Jeff Buckley - Various Sessions 1994 - 95

Image
This is another selection of radio sessions and promotional appearances by Jeff Buckley mainly in support of the album Grace and the associated touring. These short sets along with the further insight we can gain from the various (even shorter) interviews help add further insight into the man whose brief musical career continues to please and move so many people. Jeff comes across as really enjoying these sessions and I wonder if it is because of the time in his life when he could just turn up at a cafe and play without any hype or crowds of expectant fans. I mention this because of the brief December 1996 'tour' where he appeared on his "phantom solo tour" of cafés in the Northeast  in December 1996, appearing under a series of aliases such as The Crackrobats, Possessed by Elves, Topless America, Martha & the Nicotines, and A Puppet Show Named Julio. By way of justification Jeff Buckley posted a note on his Internet site stating that he missed the anon

Gods and Monsters - New York 1992

Image
By 1988 Gary Lucas was making a name for himself in New York as a solo artist having left Captain Beefhearts Magic Band some years earlier. Having written 'Grace' & 'Mojo Pin' with Jeff Buckley in 1991 Jeff began performing with Gary Lucas in his band Gods And Monsters . As has been mentioned on the previous Jeff Buckley post, days after Gods and Monsters officially debuted in March 1992, Jeff Buckley decided to leave the band. In October 2002 Gary Lucas released 'Songs To No One' an album of material from studio sessions, home tapes, and club performances over two years of collaboration between himself and Jeff Buckley. The final track on that album 'Grace' was from a live performance at the Roulette Club in New York. This is the full set recorded live at Club Roulette, New York on the 5th April 1992. Jeff Buckley - The Music Faucet 1992

Image
By the time Jeff Buckley performed on WFMU's The Music Faucet in October 1992 some of the songs that would appear on his debut album Grace less than two years later were already well developed albeit with a few notable differences to what would become the final studio versions. His love for performing covers from an incredibly diverse range of artists and styles has been well documented and throughout 1992 those fortunate enough to catch him at cafe's and clubs in Lower Manhattan may have heard him perform an eclectic selection of covers from a range of artists including Led Zeppelin, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Bob Dylan, Édith Piaf, Elton John, The Smiths, Bad Brains, Leonard Cohen, Robert Johnson and Siouxsie Sioux. This is Jeff Buckley live on WFMU New Jersey on the 11th October 1992. Source: Soundboard. Sound Quality : Very good stereo mp3@320kbps Genre: Alternative Rock, Folk. Set: Full set. Set List: 01. Lost Highway 02. Eternal Life 03. Please Send Me

Jeff Buckley - Live In Hamburg 1995

Image
It has been well over a year since Jeff Buckley last appeared on this site, my love for his music has not diminished. I guess in a way it's cyclical, time goes by, and for all types of reasons I am drawn back to playing one of his albums or songs. Because Jeff has already appeared a number of times on the Beehive, it has been easy to put this to one side, also some of the tracks can be streamed on Last FM. However this is a great concert recording, and with Jeff's passing almost twelve years ago (one month from now), lets remember him again as he was, a fabulous artist, a joy to listen to. This is Jeff Buckley recorded live at the Logo Club in Hamburg, Germany, on the 22nd February, 1995. Source: Pre FM (DAT clone). Sound Quality: Very good stereo quality. Genre: Alternative Rock, Folk, Singer songwriter. Set: Full Set. Set List: 01 -Announcer Intro 02 -Dream Brother 03 -So Real 04 -Last Goodbye 05 -What Will You Say 06 -Lilac Wine 07 -Mojo Pin 08 -Grace 09 -Eternal Life

Jeff Buckley - Live at WNEW - 1995

Image
Having posted a number of Jeff Buckley live performances last year, I will try hard not to repeat myself. The previous boots are still available, and continue to be downloaded, I guess by new visitors to the Beehive, and a few who discover us through Googling Jeff etc. This is Jeff live at WNEW (Sony Studios) with a very fortunate audience, who also got to 'enjoy' his wine, as well as the music - it will all become clear when you listen. It is so good to hear him in such a fantastic mood, and the intimacy of the event really makes this performance special. WNEW-FM were at this time just into a new music format, that was promoting, less mainstream 'alternative rock' artists, and Jeff fitted in well to these aspirations. It's a great shame the station did not stick at this, but at least they are back to music these days, rather than the horrendous 'talk radio' set up, that existed a few years back. This then is Jeff Buckley live at WNEW, Sony Stu

Jeff Buckley - Liquid Room Tokyo 1995

This is Jeff Buckley live in japan in 1995. The audio quality on this concert is superb for an audience recording. The concert took place on January 30th 1995, and as far as I know was just one of two gigs he undertook in Japan. The full concert listing is as follows: 1. Dream Brother 2. Grace 3. So Real 4. Last Goodbye 5. What Will You Say 6. Lilac Wine 7. Mojo Pin 8. Eternal Life 9. Improvisation / Lover, You Should've Come Over (10. Vancouver) (11. Kanga-roo) 12. Hallelujah / I Know It's Over (Smiths cover). I am afraid that my copy of the gig does not include Vancouver and Kanga-roo. This was a wonderful concert. My life flies by. It is now over ten years since the tragic loss of Jeff Buckley, I still often wonder what may have followed if only... This is the last full concert bootleg of Jeff Buckley for a while on Beehive Candy, however more are planned to follow. I am in the process of going through 'one offs', studio rarities and so forth, and as time permi

Jeff Buckley - Arlene's Grocery - 1997

Jeff Buckley was born in California's Orange County in 1966. He died in a tragic drowning accident on May 29 th 1997. He left one near perfect album, several live concerts recorded and released in full or part prior to, and/or after his death, and the material that may have lead eventually to a second 'proper' album. If you are a fan this leaves a void, that can never be filled. Sadly for an artist as talented as Jeff, the 'unofficial' recordings remain sadly few and far between. In away this is a good thing, as a badly recorded concert, would be such an injustice, to someone who was capable of such incredibly moving music, and never had the chance to expand definitively beyond his debut album. The bootlegs that I have of Jeff Buckley are few in number. I know of around fifteen, that are supposed to be of good quality, the live radio material seem to be those most widely circulated. This is my favorite. The copy I have was called 'The Grace Of J&#
