Golden Earring - Live in The Hague - 1989

Image
Considering Golden Earring formed in the mid 1960's, and have enjoyed popularity in Holland and a number of European countries ever since, it's great to see them still touring and recording right up to date, and with gigs scheduled into 2010! They scored their biggest UK and USA success with the classic rock song 'Radar Love', which in some ways over shadows a considerable amount of other great material they have produced down the years. For your enjoyment this is Golden Earring live in concert at the Parkpop Festival, Den Haag (The Hague), Holland on the 25th June 1989. Source: FM radio broadcast (this is from a later 're-broadcast'). Sound Quality: Very good, 320kbps stereo 'off air' recording. Genre: Rock (from 'classic' to 'prog' to 'Nederland beat') Set: This is the full broadcast material, it excludes the first two songs from their performance (Back Home & To Much Women), the total recorded time was 51:28 (117mb). The Rezillos - BBC & WFMU Radio Sessions

Image
Here's another example of just how many great bands have come out of Scotland. The Rezillos formed in Edinburgh, Scotland, back in 1976, and were quickly associated with the punk and subsequent new wave movement in the UK, with their panache for short, sharp, three minute pop gems. The band toured constantly with the likes of The Ramones and The Undertones, by 1979 it was all over. In 2001 they reformed for a one off gig, and reignited, leading to their continuing and welcome musical presence in 2009. Source: BBC and WFMU Radio sessions - Total Playing Time 44:43. Love - Live At The Fillmore West 1970

Image
Love started out playing the L.A. club scene in April 1965, and by the time of this concert in 1970, had already experienced a turbulent history, with line up changes, problematic tours, and the ravages of drug excesses. The one constant was the late Arthur Taylor Lee, along with some superb sixties albums and singles. This then is Love with both the early and late shows at the Fillmore West, San Francisco, USA, back on the 21st November 1970. Source: Concert soundboard. Sound Quality: Very good, 320kbps stereo (a few glitches due to age, that do not distract). Genre: Psychedelic rock, garage rock, sixties west coast. Set: Early and Late show performances. Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash - Sessions 1969

Image
This is hardly making it's Internet bootleg debut here, however the Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash sessions from 1969, remain elusive for many collectors, and I am happy to do my bit to help. The often asked question regarding these sessions is, why have they never been officially released ? The musically historical importance, audio quality, and perhaps the actual performances themselves, make that a reasonable question, however in all honesty forty years on, the 'cats out of the bag' if you get my drift? The contents of the sessions are detailed in track lists below, if you have just passing interest in either of these two artists, I would suggest that the recordings are well worth a listen. Source: Taken from an early generation silver CD. Sound Quality: Very good stereo soundboard, studio and auditorium. Genre: In all fairness Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash will suffice. Track List: BS studios, Nashville, TN , USA - February 17th -18th, 1969 . 01 Good Ol'

Curtis Mayfield - Live & Studio Rarities

Image
This is a wonderful collection of Curtis Mayfield rarities, that was released as a bootleg entitled 'Keep On Keepin' On' . I think the original version came into circulation on silver disc, not that long after Curtis passed away ( ten years, this coming December). Since 2003 it has appeared predominately on a limited number of Soul, R&B, and Funk enthusiasts web pages. However Curtis Mayfield had a message that went way beyond just musical style or genre. Part of the Wikipedia entry for him states: 'Curtis Mayfield is remembered for his introduction of social consciousness into R&B and for pioneering the funk style in the 1970s. Many of his recordings with the Impressions became anthems of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, and his most famous album, Super Fly , is regarded as an all-time great that influenced many and truly invented a new style of modern black music' . It is the case that his 'social consciousness' in the 1970&#

Groucho Marx - I Never Kissed An Ugly Woman

Image
This is wonderful, a bootlegged vinyl album of Groucho Marx , predominately singing songs, as only this comedy legend could have (no apology for using the over used legend word, in this case) . As I understand it, the actual vinyl bootleg album is very rare, so if you have one keep hold of it! If you were a fan of The Marx Brothers , or indeed just Groucho, then this is a must have. If you just like nostalgia, or appreciate comedy old and new, then this is a must have. If you are just someone who must have, must haves then this is a... Source: I do not know the specifics, I am guessing mainly from CBS radio programmes. Sound Quality: Direct vinyl rip (1st generation), warm and old, with a few crackles, and so very, very listenable for fans, and interested parties a like (its stereo in places). Genre: Comedy and musical styles from a bygone era. Track list: Hooray For Captain Spaulding Just Wait To I Get Through With It I Want My Shirt Omaha, Nabraska The Countr

Texas - Paradiso, Amsterdam, 1989.

Image
Considering Texas only formed in 1986, and made their live debut in March 1988, by the time of this concert in June 1989, they sounded very polished and professional, having already scored a top ten hit in the UK and parts of Europe. Was it really twenty years ago ? This concert was performed at The Paradiso, Amsterdam, Holland on the 12th June 1989. Many of their tour dates were bootlegged at this time, this concert circulated as 'First Dive' on CD, but did not include the full set. Source: The concert was recorded by Dutch radio and broadcast at a later date. Sound Quality: Very good FM Stereo rip @ 320kbps. Genre: Indie Pop to Indie Rock. Set: Majority of live concert (last track fades out). Boz Scaggs - Expo 1985 - Live in Japan

Image
This is Boz Scaggs live in concert at The Budokan, Tokyo, Japan, on March 15th, 1985, part of Expo 1985. I do not intend to go on about Boz Scaggs in detail here, when his 'official' fan site has a mass of information that would keep the most ardent fan amused and interested for hours. All I will say is, if you remain unfamiliar with Boz's music and you like a quality singer - song writer, who plays the guitar superbly, and enjoy anything from Rock to Soul, Blues to Pop, take a listen to this recording. Source: Originally circulated on CD bootlegger's 'Fire Power' (FP9045), who used silver discs rather than CDR's, the original was recorded from an FM radio broadcast. The Tubes - Darted In My Own Armchair - 1976

Image
My first memories of The Tubes , was hearing Radio Caroline play 'Don't Touch Me There' back in 1976, at a time when BBC Radio & the UK's fledgling commercial stations bent over backwards to ban anything that was remotely risque, or questionable... well anything! A number of The Tubes band members were students at the same high school in Phoenix, Arizona, as Alice Cooper, what were they putting in the water back there and then? This recording was made at a time when The Tubes were arguably moving towards their first creative peak, which was both visual and musical. This then is The Tubes live at the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, USA, on the 26th June 1976. Source: Tricky one this. I thought it was definitely an expanded version of a King Biscuit Flower Hour recording, however their site partly contradicts this, any how it's a professionally mixed recording. Sound Quality: Very good stereo soundboard quality @ 192kbps. Genre: Rock, from Pop Rock to New Wav

Nils Lofgren - Pinkpop Festival 1977

Image
It was the UK's NME (New Musical Express), that introduced me to Nils Lofgren , way back when I was a much, much, younger person in the second half of the 1970's. I was so impressed I went about purchasing his earlier material with 'Grin', and feel a strange personal satisfaction that has been such a key member of Bruce Springsteen's 'E Street Band'. This then is Nils Lofgren and band, back on the 30th May 1977, at the Pink Pop Festival, Geleen, Holland. Source: Local FM radio broadcast. Sound Quality: Very Good quality FM Stereo off air recording converted to 320kbps MP3. Genre: Rock, Blues Rock, high quality guitar and vocals. Set: Part of the festival set (as far as I know), for FM broadcast featuring key songs. Set List: 1.Incidentally it's over. 2.Like rain. 3.Code of the road. 4.Keith don't go. 5.Moon tears. 6.I came to dance. Total Playing Time 38:01 Links: Official Site (very good) HERE . The Rutles - Rehearsals

Image
Who can forget the legend that was Ron, Dirk, Stig, and Barry? The 'Prefab Four' remain in our hearts forever, a legend in their own lunchtime, always to be remembered as The Rutles . OK I hope you know the story, and some of the music, if not, and if you like The Beatles and love a good laugh this is the perfect parody. This particular recording is from The Rutles pre tour rehearsals, not sure where, its great music though, and also known as 'Sweet Rutles Tracks'. Source: Studio rehearsals 1978. Sound Quality: Good quality stereo (studio rehearsal 'live' recording). Genre: Parody, comedy, musically think The Beatles. Set: Part of studio rehearsal's with some archive Rutles video soundbites.
