Lord Sonny the Unifier - FEART - Blank Instrument - Holly Wild - Miko Marks - Shane Pendergast

Lord Sonny the Unifier - The Escape Plan Handbook (Album).

Brooklyn-based purveyor of brazen, psych-tinged rock n' roll and biker punk, Lord Sonny the Unifier, returns with his most brazen and raw offering yet on new album "The Escape Plan Handbook". Staying true to his trademark radical honesty, this release is a literal daredevil that boldly captures collective frustrations and the cultural zeitgeist like lightning in a bottle. Lord Sonny the Unifier is the artistic brainchild of Greg Jiritano, multi-instrumentalist musician, vocalist, lyricist, painter, biker, rebel and a downright nuisance to the uninspired status quo.

"The Escape Plan Handbook" is an eclectic sonic blast that will appeal to fans of Viagra Boys, The Lennon Claypool Delirium, Ty Segall, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Motorhead, The Beatles and Jack White. In other words, expect dark storytelling and gritty, untethered rock. Greg Jiritano happily revels in pure, uncut menace with diabolical vocals, grunts and screams, expressing his frustrations with aplomb.

"When I was working on this album I kept thinking: Keep it dirty...and real. All analog, tube amps and wild, near incoherent synths from the early 70's, like a very used Motorcycle's vibes. I kept thinking about those times that don't exist anymore, before the internet and social media when people could leave for a while and nobody knew where they were. No way at all to track you down. Even just a walk down the road, or a weekend vanish. The freedom in that, which was subconsciously guiding us. It was in the superconscious, in the Archetype of humanity, that unbridle freedom. In America it was easier to live then, for a lot of people. In the 60's and 70's rent was cheap, food was cheap, even minimum wage covered the basics. There wasn't an undercurrent of fear for basic survival which forces us to do things we don't really want, like spend most of our day at a shi66y job with no reward at the end of the day or week.

I was thinking of those times, thinking of really cool woman in their cutoff shorts and all of us meeting at hidden spots many days drives from home to a wilder uninhabited America. Some in Vans, some on motorcycles, some in small Campervans. This is The Escape Plan. Iconoclasts who disregard the day to day politics and realities of daily life who say, I see you and don't accept an iota of it. I disregard all of you and I'm gonna go this way with my tribe, and we are the happy ones here, and you aught to be us. You, including the ones in power and the ones trapped in the day to day of your own making. You want to be us. All the songs on this album were dreamt up thinking of that world, of those people, of those times, written from the perspective of being either  IN IT or of looking AT IT from the outside."

FEART - a boy can dream.

We don't know much about FEART (pronounced 'fear-t') beyond the info below and that he is an Amsterdam-based Scottish indie artist. The featured song however is something quite special, exuding a raw emotional feeling without any self indulgent overtones, allowing the listener to be drawn into a shared experience, something we might simply relate to today or through past memories.

This single was written, recorded, and produced by the solo Scottish artist known as FEART. It's a rich, analogue track with a somber and melancholic undertone.

The second single 'a boy can dream', was released yesterday 25 September, from the upcoming full-length LP 'bonnie mourn'. Musically it's an intriguing mixture of alternative acoustic, along with some beautifully placed orchestral arrangement.

Blank Instrument - Know Nothing.

Blank Instrument, the musical project of Boorloo/Perth-based singer-songwriter Kim Franklin, whose new single, ‘Know Nothing’, was released yesterday  Friday, September 25. This track marks the third single from her forthcoming debut album, ‘Jumping at Ghosts’, which is out in just a month's time on Friday, October 23.

As the third single from ‘Jumping at Ghosts’, ‘Know Nothing’ continues Blank Instrument’s deeply personal songwriting journey while shifting the focus more directly onto Franklin herself. Warm Hammond organ, acoustic guitar and subtle vocal harmonies create a reflective country-folk atmosphere, while lively drums add a brighter, more buoyant edge.

Where earlier singles ‘Brand New’ and ‘Green and Blue’ were shaped in part by the memory of her late friend Julie, whose generosity continued after her passing and helped fund the project, ‘Know Nothing’ turns inward, exploring Franklin’s relationship with intuition, perfectionism and decision-making.  Inspired by her tendency to search for the “right” choice, the track reflects a shift in mindset as she learns to accept uncertainty and embrace the idea that there can be several workable paths rather than one perfect answer. Franklin states:

"Some decisions aren’t simple or easy. I've struggled with the idea of making the ‘right’ decision. This is, I've realised recently, because I'm a perfectionist. While it's often seen as a positive trait and the perfect job interview answer, living with it can be difficult. There is no amount of information that can make a decision easier, when you’re looking for a level of certainty that’s impossible to find."

Holly Wild - So Annoying.

Sydney-based artist Holly Wild channels the jealousy of an annoyingly perfect friend into a new sarcastic, punchy indie-pop rock single, ‘So Annoying’, out this weekend alongside an accompanying music video. The single comes ahead of her debut album 'Technicolour', out Friday, October 16. Since releasing her debut single in 2021, Holly Wild has built an array of music, television and international collaborations, working with highly acclaimed industry talents including producer David Arkwright (James Arthur, Teddy Swims, Katelyn Tarver) and Australian ARIA chart-topper Jolyon Petch, demonstrating her growing industry recognition.

Now turning that growing experience towards a punchier, more playful side of her sound, Holly Wild brings a garage-rock edge to ‘So Annoying’. Distorted electric guitar riffs and powerful drums collide with catchy, lo-fi spoken-word vocals, before gritty vocals push the track into a slightly chaotic explosion of raspy frustration and upbeat energy.

'So Annoying' uses playfulness and exaggerated sarcasm to capture the envious feeling of having a friend who is effortlessly perfect. It combines internal feelings and critiques to reflect pettiness and jealousy, focusing on the self-awareness and irrationality of knowing how ridiculous and unhinged it may be. Wild takes this jealousy and turns it into a sarcastic and funny commentary on the envy that isn’t always shared. As Holly Wild shares:

"’So Annoying’ is about that one friend who makes everything look way too easy... gorgeous, unbothered, life just falling into place. My co-writer and I got a bit ridiculous imagining every petty thought you could have about her, and somewhere in all that laughing, the song showed up. I like to think of it as the anthem for 'friend-vy'... the jealousy nobody likes admitting to."

Miko Marks - Hell or High Water.

Miko Marks releases “Hell or High Water,” the deeply personal title track from her forthcoming LP Hell Or High Water, due October 30 via Redtone Records. Drawing from the losses and struggles that have shaped her life, Marks looks to the wisdom she has gained, the people she has loved, and the ancestors she carries with her as sources of strength to keep moving forward.

The song reaches back to Marks’ roots in Flint, Michigan, a city she remembers thriving during her youth but has since watched struggle, with much of her family still there. Her own life has brought profound loss as well, including the deaths of her mother and sister and the end of her 29-year marriage. As grief accumulated, Marks found herself struggling with depression and isolation and trying to escape sadness she could not outrun.

“I lost my way and tried to drown my sadness and grief to no avail,” Marks shares. “Depression kicked in and isolation was becoming a friend. Through support and help, I was able to climb out of a self-imposed misery and find my joy again.” That journey takes on powerful symbolism throughout “Hell or High Water.” The “stone in my pocket” Marks sings of represents the wisdom and inner strength she carries with her, while the “spirits all around me” are her ancestors and loved ones whose presence reminds her to keep moving forward.

“Perseverance could be my middle name,” Marks explains. “Despite my willingness to give up, I have not. I have a ‘stone in my pocket’ that I carry for wisdom and inner strength. The ‘spirits all around me’ are my ancestors, loved ones, and they encourage me to keep going even when things are not as I believe they should be. I will continue to make it through, and I’ll press on through whatever comes my way.”

Shane Pendergast - Jack Pine.

Prince Edward Island singer-songwriter Shane Pendergast shares “Jack Pine,” an introspective yet uplifting folk song inspired by the rugged resilience of its namesake tree. Rooted in earthy imagery, live instrumentation, and Pendergast’s deep connection to the landscape and literary traditions of Prince Edward Island, the track finds beauty in adapting to difficult surroundings without losing sight of who you are. It’s the title track from his upcoming fifth album, Jack Pine, set for release on October 23rd, 2026.

The song takes inspiration from Pendergast’s longstanding fascination with jack pines: hardy, unconventional trees capable of growing in barren and unforgiving ground. Their ability to bend, adapt, and assume unexpected forms offered a natural reflection of ideas that have increasingly found their way into his songwriting.

That connection is also rooted in the work of legendary Prince Edward Island poet Milton Acorn, whose writing about the tree particularly resonated with Pendergast. “The Jack pine grows to any shape that suits the light, suits the winds, suits itself,” Acorn wrote, capturing the same rugged individualism that drew Pendergast to the image.

Throughout the song, the Jack pine becomes more than a piece of the Maritime landscape. Its bent branches and ability to withstand difficult conditions offer a metaphor for resilience, adaptability, and the tension between yielding to outside forces and holding onto something essential within yourself.

Just Pearls - Blank Instrument - The Music Of Sound - Cherry Vance

Just Pearls - Comes Love.

Just Pearls is the project of musician and author Kate Pearl, who grew up in Ohio, USA, and has been living in the Bernese region (Switzerland) since 2001. Her musical and literary biography is as diverse as it is impressive - it includes collaborations with Balts Nill and Ursula Hotz (Rodeo Ranchers; collaborations with Tammy Wynette, Brent Moyer, and Hans Holzherr, among others), as well as personal support from renowned songwriter Tom Paxton.

Just Pearls new single 'Comes Love' was released yesterday August 7th. The song is reminiscent of Tracy Chapman's striking directness, Patti Smith's poetic power, and Courtney Barnett's distinctive energy. At the same time, "Comes Love" is a first taste of the album "Flutterby," which will be released on October 23rd.

The new album features contributions from renowned musicians from the Swiss scene, including Serge Christen, Dave Jutzi ("Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtrack, collaborations with Joe Cocker, Nils Burri, and 4Accord), Tom Gisler (Bo Katzman, Nubya, Zia Lisa & Gattopardo, Mario Capitanio’s bands (formerly Polo Hofer)), and Phillip Bühlmann.

Particularly intriguing: "Comes Love" is part of the album "Flutterby” which is also the musical soundtrack to Kate Pearl's fairy tale and songbook of the same name, to be released in September. Music and literature combine to form a shared story about confidence, connection, and the power of imagination.

Blank Instrument - Green and Blue.

Blank Instrument, the pen name for Boorloo/Perth-based singer-songwriter Kim Franklin, shares her second single of 2026, ’Green and Blue’, released (Friday, August 7). Following the June release of the single ‘Brand New’, ‘Green and Blue’ is the second single from her upcoming debut album, ‘Jumping at Ghosts’, due later this year.

‘Green and Blue’ continues to expand the world within ‘Jumping at Ghosts’, acknowledging her late friend Julie while finding solace in recognising the need for emotional respite. The piano-fronted ballad encompasses the feeling of escape, both physical and emotional, with the song’s warm, lulling tones that encourage reflection and emotional openness.

‘Jumping at Ghosts’ is the product of Franklin's emotional vulnerability and Julie's immense generosity prior to her passing in 2023. Julie and Kim Franklin, long-time friends, brought together by work and sewn together by their mutual love of music, storytelling, and conversation, remained close after moving on to different careers, emphasising the connection between the two women. Prior to her passing, Julie bestowed a gift to Franklin, leaving her some money so Franklin could “pursue her dreams”, a gift that led to the funding of ‘Jumping at Ghosts’, Blank Instrument’s debut album.

Written during a visit to Byron Bay in the months following Julie’s passing, coinciding with what would have been Julie’s birthday, ‘Green and Blue’ weaves warm piano with a mantra of finding escape and “waiting in the blue” for the motions to come to you, accepting what is and what is to come. The track, harmonious and inviting, encapsulates the need for respite and finding emotional clarity, using the picturesque locale of Byron Bay’s grassy coast and rolling waves as motifs for reaching understanding and realigning your beliefs of the world. “Taking the coast road, city streets, a distant memory… Bare feet on a bush track… feel my tension ebb away, each step I’m whole again… my soul is at ease."

The Music Of Sound - Shimmer.

London’s UK-Indian dream-pop group The Music Of Sound are pleased to unveil their powerful new single ‘Shimmer’, released August 7th 2026 via Monochrome Motif Records. Bringing together generations, cultures and musical backgrounds, The Music of Sound has developed a distinctive sound that blends dream pop, electronic music and cinematic songwriting. Comprised of Gen Z musicians Sherin and Elena alongside veteran composer, producer and radio broadcaster Neil March, the trio have drawn comparisons to Beach House, Saint Etienne, Chromatics and Future Islands while carving out a musical identity that defies comparison, and is unmistakably their own.

Originally formed by Neil March for a BBC Introducing performance at Latitude Festival, the band has evolved from their avant-garde and post-classical roots into the immersive electro dream-pop outfit they are today. The Music of Sound’s current incarnation began in 2024 when South Indian vocalist Sherin moved to the UK to pursue a career in music after growing up in a culture where opportunities for young women were heavily restricted.

Meeting Neil March at London’s ICMP music college proved transformative for her, leading to an endorsement from Arts Council England as an ‘exceptional talent’ for a Global Talent Visa, her appointment as the band’s lead vocalist, which proved to be a pivotal role in shaping the band’s distinctive sound. Together with flautist Elena, the trio create music that explores empathy, identity, anti-fascism and social unity.

Following the acclaim surrounding recent singles ‘Tyche’, ‘Paradigm’ and ‘Ebbw Vale’, ‘Shimmer’ continues the band’s evolution through shimmering dream-pop textures, spacious electronic soundscapes and emotionally resonant songwriting. At its heart, the single delivers a message of hope and unity to an increasingly divided world, celebrating kindness, compassion and resilience over fear and hatred.

Cherry Vance - better.

Nashville pop-punk band Cherry Vance officially kicks off a new chapter with the release of their single, "better," available everywhere now. Blending hard-hitting instrumentation and emotionally driven lyrics, the self-produced track introduces listeners to a band quickly gaining momentum in Nashville's alternative scene.

"'Better' is about loving someone through their darkest moments and holding onto hope that they'll choose to become the better person you know they can be. Even though the song opens with a breakup, it's really about not wanting that goodbye to be permanent," shares the band. "We self-produced the track and recorded it at East Iris Studios in Nashville, Tennessee."

Self-produced and recorded at Nashville's East Iris Studios, "better" pairs emotionally charged lyrics with infectious pop-punk energy, exploring the hope of reconciliation and believing in someone's ability to change.

Although "better" marks Cherry Vance's first official release, the band has already established itself as one of Nashville's rising alternative acts. Recently praised by the Nashville Scene, Cherry Vance has shared the stage with Slow Pulp, Cameron Whitcomb, and Josiah and the Bonnevilles, and has become a staple at the city's Emo Night and Grunge Night events. The band has also performed at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and will join Ian McConnell on select tour dates this September.

Re Mattei - Blank Instrument - Real Monte - Killian Walsh - Brand New Heartache - Cassandra Coleman

Re Mattei - Hot Mess.

After earning chart success, industry recognition, and a growing reputation for crafting songs that resonate with everyday life, country artist and songwriter Re Mattei returns with "Hot Mess," an empowering new anthem for women who embrace every side of who they are.

Set to appear on her forthcoming album Stories Lived, arriving later this summer, "Hot Mess" captures the duality familiar to millions of women: the polished professional during the week and the adventurous, carefree spirit who emerges when the workday ends. Co-written by Mattei and Courtney Bach, the song is equal parts country swagger, heartfelt storytelling, and unapologetic celebration of authenticity.

Inspired by a group of women Mattei worked alongside in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, "Hot Mess" tells the story of a woman who spends her weekdays making deals in heels but lives for weekends filled with tailgates, four-wheelers, fishing trips, and quality time with the people she loves.

"I was fascinated by how these women balanced so many responsibilities while still making time to enjoy life," says Mattei. "They weren't worried about being perfect. They weren't afraid to get dirty, laugh hard, and simply be themselves. At its heart, 'Hot Mess' celebrates those moments when we allow ourselves to be perfectly imperfect and are loved just as we are."

Blank Instrument - Brand New.

Boorloo/Perth artist Blank Instrument, the musical project of singer-songwriter Kim Franklin, unveils her new single 'Brand New', out yesterday Friday, June 26, the first taste of her forthcoming debut album 'Jumping at Ghosts', due later this year.

While the warm, country-tinged folk release explores the end of a relationship and the hope that follows, it also marks the beginning of an album made possible by Franklin's late friend Julie, whose encouragement and generosity helped bring the long-held dream of recording a full-length record to life.

The album's origins can be traced back to one of Franklin's final conversations with Julie, a close friend she met years earlier while working together in the public service. Bonded by a shared love of music, storytelling and conversation, the pair remained close long after moving on to different careers.

Before her passing in 2023, Julie told Franklin she wanted to leave her some money to help "pursue her dreams". That gift ultimately funded the recording of 'Jumping at Ghosts', allowing Franklin to enter Sundown Studios and realise a project that may otherwise have remained out of reach. More than a debut album, the record stands as a lasting tribute to friendship, generosity and the people who shape our lives.

Real Monte - Take Me To The Sky.

The vintage soul-pop journey of Real Monte continues with its second chapter! With their new single "Take Me To The Sky," the Swiss band once again has a great tune to offer.

Swiss radio station Radio Basilisk summed it up perfectly in April: "Real Monte invite listeners on a musical journey that stylishly blends the past and the present." Meanwhile, Belgian music blog Concertmonkey described the band's sound as a "vintage soul-pop journey," and youth radio station 4TNG in Winterthur selected their debut single as its Song of the Day.

Together with countless live performances, these accolades have helped Real Monte build a loyal and steadily growing fan base over the past few years. Their debut single "Go Go Go" achieved remarkable success this spring, receiving more than 500 radio plays on stations across Switzerland and abroad.

Now it's time for the follow-up: "Take Me To The Sky." An upbeat, carefree summer soul-pop song with a modern touch, it captures the timeless spirit of the 1950s and 1960s while bringing it into the present day.

Killian Walsh - Ise (Album).

Experimental electronic artist and multi-instrumentalist Killian Walsh releases his new album ‘Ise’, accompanied by focus track ‘Let’s Dance’, featuring his daughter Elise SW. Following the release of previous singles ‘Let’s Float’ and ‘Let’s Play Bongos’, the full body of work now arrives as a deeply personal and emotionally expansive collection that cites a journey through grief, reflection, healing and renewal.

The album is named after the Irish word for “she”, with ‘Ise’ serving as a gesture of respect to the women who have shaped Killian’s life. Created during a profoundly transformative period following the deaths of his wife and father, the album emerged organically as a creative response to loss, gradually evolving into a complete work that captures both emotional vulnerability and artistic growth.

Killian Walsh comments: “Music has been part of my life from a very young age, and I had what I can only describe as a pull to do something. This album is effectively the story of the journey of my grief, realising that grief is a form of madness and all the emotions attached to that. It's also the journey of me looking into my past, because you really start looking at yourself and asking, ‘What are you doing? Why am I here? What is the point in all of this?”

Across the album’s eleven tracks, ‘Ise’ draws upon a broad spectrum of electronic influences including Ambient, House, Trance and Techno, while also reflecting Killian’s roots in traditional Irish music. Developed alongside collaborators in Dublin, Berlin and Australia, including renowned producers and engineers Tobias Neumann and Johannes Manuel, the album balances analogue textures, immersive sound design and melodic depth with an unmistakably human emotional core.

Brand New Heartache - New Alchemy.

"New Alchemy" is the third single and title track from Brand New Heartache's forthcoming debut album, A New Alchemy (Mule Kick Records), arriving July 24. The single and accompanying video was released yesterday. Brand New Heartache, the husband/wife duo consisting of Eleese and Matthew Meschery, take their cues from the rich traditions of authentic Americana while channeling anthemic, indie-pop vibrations and dreamy harmonies. After having formed the band in Oakland, CA, the pair made a consequential move in 2022 to Madison, TN just outside of Nashville. With a rotating cast of session players that included members of Chuck Prophet’s band, Counting Crows, and Aimee Mann's touring band, they’ve sharpened a captivating sound and built momentum in East Nashville as they gear up for their release on Mule Kick Records.

Blending dreamy harmonies, Americana roots, and indie-pop atmosphere, "New Alchemy" explores the exhilarating uncertainty of a first romantic connection—that moment when attraction seems to bend reality and transform ordinary time into something magical. As songwriter and vocalist Matthew Meschery explains: "That first hint of romantic love seems to transform time and space and defy the laws of physics and pure reality."

Brand New Heartache is the husband-and-wife duo of Matthew and Eleese Meschery. Originally formed in Oakland before relocating to the Nashville area, the pair draw inspiration from artists such as Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Aimee Mann, The New Pornographers, and The Head and the Heart. Their debut album was produced and mixed by Michael Patterson (Beck, The Notorious B.I.G.) and features contributions from an accomplished cast of musicians from the Nashville and Bay Area scenes.

Cassandra Coleman - Maggie.

Emerging singer/songwriter Cassandra Coleman has released her new single “Maggie.” A wistful ode to faded friendships, “Maggie” reflects on the ambivalence of growing apart from someone over time. Coleman’s sharp vocals cut through the driving instrumentation as she reminisces about bittersweet truths and blunt realities. “‘Maggie’ represents friendships lost by time and change - the bittersweet reality of outgrowing parts of our lives while still carrying gratitude for what they meant to us,” stated Coleman. “It hurts to lose a friend and it hurts to get older and realize you invested more into your dreams than your people.”

Cassandra Coleman will make her television debut next week on June 30th where she’ll perform the new single on The Kelly Clarkson Show. After closing out a batch of tour dates with AMBLE earlier this month, Coleman announced she will be performing in front of her biggest audience to date at Hyde Park in London on July 4th with Mumford & Sons. The appearance will cap off a limited run of Europe and UK dates opening for Angus & Julia Stone. This fall, Coleman will also perform at Oceans Calling Festival in September and Austin City Limits in October.

“Maggie” arrives after a series of new singles that have quickly established Coleman as one of indie-pop’s most compelling new voices, hailed for her “immense talent” (Paste) and “an artist who refuses to be defined by any one thing” (Rolling Stone). She previously released the “ethereal…haunting” (Melodic Magazine) “Dying Star” this spring, which finds Coleman with eyes on the horizon as she envisions a prescient visit with her future self. The sweeping instrumentation soars beneath her lush vocals anchored by wisdom-seeking lyrics that grapple with fate, longing, and the search for meaning. “‘Dying Star’ is a walk with the woman that I’ll become,” stated Coleman. “Curious of the knowledge that time has given her, I ask what the future holds. She reminds me that worry is a thief, time is an illusion, and the ones we love make the journey worth walking.”
