DegHerl - Mon Rayon - Maddie Lenhart - Niki Kennedy - The Wandering Divide

DegHerl - DegHerl (Album).

Released this weekend Degherl's first album, follows two previous EPs (one live and the other in the studio), and includes songs recorded between 2022 and 2026, as well as a new version - for the vocal part - of the single Nightmare, already published in 2021 as part of a compilation. The band further deepens its sonic research within the post-punk and new wave universe, building a work that, without losing coherence and identity, also crosses shoegaze, jangle-pop and dark-folk, with a brief excursus between no-wave and psychedelia.

More than a collection of songs, the album appears as a circular path in which each song explores a different declination of the tension between shadow and light, restlessness and desire, memory and vision. To quote some influences, you will recognise the dark romanticism of The Cure, the urban shadows of Tuxedomoon and The Sound, the angularity of Xmal Deutschland, the ethereal atmospheres of Slowdive and Cocteau Twins, up to the art-punk eclecticism of DEVO and B-52's.

The presence of different generations in the Degherl lineup testifies their timeless vitality. The group's name is also the album's title. Degherl (whose pronunciation sounds like The Girl) can then become an invitation to read between the lines, make free associations between sound assonances and phonetic decompositions, to reconstruct from scratch the possibility of regenerating meanings.

Mon Rayon - Image Repertoire (Album).

Self-produced by Josef Ask and Christoffer Zetterlund, the album moves between 1960s French and baroque pop, British indie, soul, psychedelia and spaghetti-western cinema.

Much of it was recorded live in a converted chapel in the Swedish countryside, with a close group of musicians playing together in the room - keeping the performances warm, organic and alive.

The band once described their musical world as somewhere between “a full English breakfast and the Sanremo Festival in the 1960s,” which probably captures it better than a single genre tag. Mon Rayon will also celebrate the release with a special album launch show at Kollektivet Livet in Stockholm on the 8th October.

Maddie Lenhart - Why in the World (EP).

Nashville country artist and singer-songwriter Maddie Lenhart releases her debut EP, Why in the World, this weekend. From track one through track six, Why in the World explores the highs and lows of love and loss — running from heartbreak, living through it, learning to trust yourself enough to fall in love again, and finding light through the difficult corners along the way. At its core, the debut EP is rooted in intentional storytelling, with every lyric carefully considered and no line left without purpose. Sonically, Maddie Lenhart draws from her Appalachian roots, blending organic country and folk-inspired instrumentation with dreamy, ethereal production to create a sound that feels both grounded and distinctly her own.

Why in the World offers a true introduction to Maddie as an artist, showcasing the perspective, songwriting, and musical identity that will continue to shape her career in country music. Virginia-born and raised, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Maddie Lenhart has spent years developing her voice as both an artist and a songwriter. Since moving to Music City, she has written hundreds of songs and earned more than 45 independent cuts, building a reputation for sharp, deeply personal country songwriting rooted in honest storytelling.

2026 marked the beginning of a significant new chapter for Lenhart, with the successful rollout of her the singles from her debut EP, Why in the World, produced by Brad Hill (Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne). The project generated major attention pre-release, with “Empty Room” earning features from both Billboard and American Songwriter and “Newton’s First Law” landing on the cover of Spotify’s Fresh Finds Country. The EP’s title track, “Why in the World,” was co-written with Jay Knowles (Alan Jackson, Lainey Wilson) and Jen Stegall (Carter Faith), further highlighting Lenhart’s ability to pair distinctive songwriting with polished contemporary country production.

Niki Kennedy - The Space In Between (Album).

Two years ago, Toronto singer-songwriter Niki Kennedy was searching for new inspiration and a new direction. Like many emerging young artists, she realized she had fallen into the trap of chasing expectations set by others rather than following her own instincts. It was an epiphany for Kennedy, who had already earned a Masters degree in music, been accepted into several industry-sponsored creative programs, and released a handful of independent singles.

She decided to try something different—ignore what she “should” be doing, and simply start writing songs that drew from her life experiences, often in a vulnerable manner she had never attempted before that unmasked and confronted her insecurities, frustrations and fears. Kennedy has channelled all of it into her debut album The Space In Between, which showcases her entrancing voice in inventive arrangements rooted in modern adult pop with hints of country, R&B and reggae.

Niki says, “I didn’t go into this process trying to ‘write an album,’ but to capture the messy human journey of figuring it all out. At the end of it, I had a collection of songs that felt true to this chapter of my life and artistry. I chose 12 of them for this album, and it was at that point that I went into the studio with long-time friend and collaborator Shane Stephenson, who mixed the record and helped me bring it to the finish line.”

The Wandering Divide - Norte Del Sur.

We are pleased to feature The Wandering Divide's EP 'Norte Del Sur' which is described as "a sonic journey into our interior and exterior worlds." It's heartfelt, gentle and allows the musical arrangements to take the listener along on the creators personal journey. We will let Brandon give us the background...

Fronted by multi-instrumentalist and producer Brandon Cooke, the cinematic, indie-folk project is a moving exploration of displacement, longing, and what Cooke calls "melancholic joy." For years, Cooke engineered for acts such as Glass Animals, Jelly Roll, Kamasi Washington, Earlimart, and members of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails. As a touring and studio musician, he shared stages with the likes of Weezer, The Black Keys, Phantogram, and TV on the Radio.

In 2022, Cooke grew disillusioned with the hyper-commercialization of art in the modern music industry and walked away. Spending extensive time in Kolkata, Ireland, the American Southwest, and the Appalachian Mountains, Cooke found inspiration in the music of his roots, the scenery of his travels, and the stories of those he met along the way.

Upon returning, Cooke built a studio north of San Francisco and set out to write, engineer, produce, and perform a record that captured this inspiration. The result is the four-song EP, Norte Del Sur. Musically, Norte Del Sur bridges the rugged topography of the American Southwest and the inspiring sereness of the California coasts with the misty landscapes of Ireland. While Norte Del Sur is primarily orchestrated by Cooke, the EP is rounded out by a collective of talent, featuring cellist Peter Jacobsen, upright bassist Paul Livingstone, fiddler McGilvry Allen, and bassist Nate Levin.

It is music born from the physical and emotional impact of travel, a poignant reminder that when the industry strips art of its soul, the only cure is to let the heart be the vessel and hit the open road.

Andy Lauth - Lisa Bouchelle - Mon Rayon - VSQ & Girl Named Tom - Teni Rane - Karen Myatt

Andy Lauth - Under Construction.

Andy Lauth is an accomplished drummer and singer with an unmistakable soulful voice. The Lucerne-based artist moves between groovy rhythms, atmospheric art pop, and warm soul. He first attracted international attention with his 2023 single “Beautiful.” The song received numerous plays on indie radio stations around the world and was also added to the rotation of Radio Swiss Pop.

Now, the light-footed “Under Construction” marks the next chapter. Once again, Andy Lauth reveals a personal yet playful side. Stylistically, he combines elements of art pop and soul pop with an organic band sound and a strong attention to detail. Catchy melodies meet groovy arrangements, while the lyrics move between self-reflection, a playful wink, and emotional openness.

For the recordings, Lauth brought his live band into the studio: Andreas Meili, formerly a member of Mothers Pride, on keys; Steve Werle on guitar; and Simon Kaufmann, known among other things for his work with Lina Button, on bass. Together, they give the songs a lively, organic character.

“Under Construction” is a preview of the upcoming EP, which will be officially launched on 17. Oktober at the Jazzkantine Lucerne was produced by Manuel Halter, who has previously worked with artists including Luca Hänni, Child, and Remo Forrer. Singers Child and Miss C-Line add further vocal accents, appearing as backing vocalists on several tracks. In 2026, Miss C-Line received the Artist Award.

Lisa Bouchelle - Vandals, Thieves & Lovers (Album).

Lisa Bouchelle has released her new album Vandals, Thieves & Lovers. Boasting an array of special guests and collaborators including Amanda Shires, Larry Campbell, Waddy Wachtel (Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt) and E Street Band saxophonist Jake Clemons, the record finds the New Jersey singer-songwriter grappling with the full spectrum of the human experience, balancing darkness and light as she navigates love, loss and liberation.

Featuring early singles “Make This World Stand Still” (feat. Amanda Shires), “Vandal” (feat. Waddy Wachtel), “A Light To Come Home To” (feat. Amanda Shires & Larry Campbell) and “Game To Play,” Vandals, Thieves & Lovers sees Bouchelle embracing a collaborative spirit to serve the music. To that end, she invited additional all-star players like celebrated guitarist Clay Cook (Zac Brown Band), pedal steel virtuoso Doyle Grisham (Jimmy Buffett), drummer Rich Scannella (Tonic), fiddle player Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth) and bassist Hal B. Selzer (Joan Jett) to join these sessions. The album takes a similarly wide-ranging sonic approach, drawing on folk, country, rock, blues, gospel, soul and funk as it weaves together the disparate threads of American roots music into a captivating, cohesive whole. Add it all up and you’ve got a timeless work that’s as indebted to Laurel Canyon and Bakersfield as Memphis and Motown, a revelatory exploration of survival and resilience that showcases just how far Bouchelle has come, and where she’s headed.

A relentless road warrior, she has sung backup for Bruce Springsteen, dueted in concert with Jon Bon Jovi and shared bills with the likes of The Wallflowers, Train, Blues Traveler, Bryan Adams, Shooter Jennings and Steve Miller, among others. Now with Vandals, Thieves & Lovers, the spotlight remains firmly fixed on Bouchelle throughout these songs, with arrangements centered around her evocative vocals and infectiously rhythmic guitar work.

Mon Rayon - Pale Memory.

Every so often, a band comes along that feels almost impossible to pin down. Mon Rayon are one of those bands, occupying a world somewhere between “a full English breakfast and the Sanremo Festival in the 1960s”. Behind the duo’s finely detailed arrangements and carefully constructed songs is a strong sense of spontaneity, and above all, a love of playing together. “From the beginning, the whole idea has been that the music should feel alive,” explains Josef Ask. “That we play together and that everything you hear is actually being played. It should feel organic, and that’s probably one of the biggest things we’ve taken from orchestral pop.”

Made up of Josef Ask and Christoffer Zetterlund, Mon Rayon release their debut album Image Repertoire on 2 October. Across its twelve tracks, the duo draw on 1960s French pop, baroque touches of harpsichord, sweeping string arrangements and even Göran Fristorp’s 1974 Melodifestivalen appearance, while French semiotician Roland Barthes provides an unexpected conceptual thread running through the record.

What ties these influences together is Mon Rayon’s instinct for melody, restraint and understated grandeur. The result is an album that feels meticulous without ever becoming rigid. The duo produced the record themselves, with Simon Nordberg on mixing.

“A lot of the songs come from small fragments of life, brief snapshots and memories,” the band explain. “That made us think of Barthes’ concept of the ‘image-repertoire’ - the idea that we carry around an internal collection of images, memories, fantasies, cultural references and emotional associations through which we understand other people. We never really meet someone as a completely ‘new’ person. We filter them through this existing repertoire of images.”

VSQ & Girl Named Tom - Ordinary World.

Pop-culture-inspired instrumentalists Vitamin String Quartet (VSQ) have teamed up with acclaimed vocal trio Girl Named Tom for a sweeping rendition of Duran Duran’s 1993 hit “Ordinary World,” out this weekend via CMH Label Group/Vitamin Records. The revamp and accompanying performance video is a nod to their upcoming joint “Crazy Ordinary World” Tour, with both groups bringing their captivating arrangements to Nashville, Atlanta, D.C. and more.

"We loved joining forces with Girl Named Tom to create a fresh interpretation of a song as iconic and moving as ‘Ordinary World,'" says VSQ violinist Rachel Grace. "It’s a piece we’re especially excited to share with our audiences when we take it on the upcoming tour and perform it live."

“We love discovering great music from years gone by, and it's been awesome diving into ‘Ordinary World,’” says Girl Named Tom. “Somehow we've lived all our lives without knowing this Duran Duran classic (maybe because our dad was tunnel-visioned on U2, or because Bekah was only 3 years old when it came out!). Upon hearing it for the first time, we'd made a vocal arrangement and demo within 24 hours. It reminded us of the many frantic hours we spent arranging songs on The Voice! We like how this arrangement features the beautiful lyrics and also brings out the best in both our vocals and the musicians of Vitamin String Quartet."

On the upcoming tour, Girl Named Tom adds, “We can't wait for y'all to hear your favorite Girl Named Tom music in this brand new setting - in symphony halls with a string quartet! Working with these tremendous musicians has already been a great joy and we know the music we create on stage will change us - and you - every night.”

Teni Rane - Never Turning Back (Album).

Teni Rane’s new album Never Turning Back unfolds as a reflective journey through the many kinds of places people inhabit over a lifetime. Rooted in intimate storytelling and atmospheric arrangements, the album traces movement not only across landscapes, but also across inner terrain. Each song acts as a waypoint, capturing moments of arrival, departure, and the quiet in-between spaces where transformation often happens.

Geographic place plays a grounding role throughout the record with tracks like “Arkansas” and “Soil on My Soul” speaking to the pieces of our hearts that we leave behind or that we feel we’ve never fully found. The physical settings are not merely backdrops; they mirror the shifting states of the narrator and reflect restlessness, craved for belonging, and the pull of the elusive feeling of home. Rane’s songwriting uses place as memory, where a location can hold the weight of a decision or the echo of who someone used to be.

Beyond geography, Never Turning Back explores how we define and manage social and cultural place throughout our lives. “Secondhand Memories” and “Driveway Conversations” inspect the roles we are assigned, the communities we navigate, and the expectations we push against or grow into. Throughout the album, the lyrics linger in spaces of relational inflection points and introspective musings about how our inner and outer worlds are reconciled. Rane’s writing asks the listener to contemplate the quiet tension between fitting in and stepping away, between tradition and self-definition.

Rane’s sophomore release makes space for an exploration of emotional places: joy, grief, hope, resilience. The title, Never Turning Back, suggests a threshold crossed, a recognition that the journey must move forward. With warmth and her own brand of moxie, Teni Rane offers an album that feels both deeply personal and widely resonant, inviting listeners to reflect on where they’ve been, where they are, and the unseen places still ahead.

Karen Myatt - Valise (Album).

Montreal vocalist Karen Myatt has released her new album Valise. Comprising 9 original compositions (and 2 covers), Valise captures and conveys both the act and the art of sacred travel. Inspired by journeys - internal and external - over the past decade, the new songs explore time travel, spiritual quest, and multi-cultural pilgrimage - experiences that exist well beyond the veil and trappings of tourism.

“Phil Cousineau says in his powerful book The Art of Pilgrimage; ‘What matters most on your journey is how deeply you see, how attentively you hear, how richly the encounters are felt in your heart and soul.’

“This idea had a profound effect on the making of Valise,” shares Myatt, “Travel is engaging, educational and entertaining, and - I believe - vital for healing our world during times of conflict.”

Ruby James - Honeydripper.

Some songs don’t announce themselves. They take their time. Ruby James’ “Honeydripper” moves that way. It doesn’t rush to explain itself. It settles in, holds its ground, and builds until it gives way to something heavier, and impossible to ignore.

“Honeydripper” traces back to a writing session at the Holiday Music Motel’s “Love on Holiday” gathering in Door County, Wisconsin, where James connected with songwriter Kate Vargas and built the track from instinct. It began with a simple groove, and a shared sense of chemistry.

“I’d wanted to write with Kate for years,” James says. “She has this incredible voice and presence. When we finally connected, it just clicked.” What began as a playfully, provocative point of view has since taken on a different meaning.  James says, "It’s really become about owning your sexuality and your power - all the girls want to be Honeydrippers.”

It was also the song that caught the attention of Lucinda Williams during James’ first Nashville performance. Williams remarked,  “That’s the tune. That funky, soul-driven feel really suits you. Lean into that.”  With “Honeydripper,” Ruby James isn’t fitting into a lane. She’s carving one out, equal parts grit, groove, and a slow burn that eventually explodes."- Ruby James.

Paper Citizen - Station.

Paper Citizen have just released a new single Station, a song that doesn’t wait for permission; it sprints ahead. It feels like platform lights flickering past. A last call echoing through the speakers. Your bag already packed before you’ve fully decided where you’re headed.

There’s no overthinking here. No perfect plan. Just movement. Just instinct. What starts as anticipation becomes momentum. What feels uncertain turns into something electric. At its heart, Station has a question. A simple one that keeps coming back around: “Who you waiting for?”

There’s a restless energy running through it emulating late nights, loud shows, and chasing something just out of reach. The kind of feeling that pushes you forward before doubt has a chance to catch up. But this isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about leaving hesitation behind and trusting the pull of whatever’s calling you.

Brook Fox - Anywhere with You.

Brook Fox is set to release one final single ahead of his highly anticipated debut EP, 'Everybody’s in Love'. Titled 'Anywhere with You', the track arrived yesterday 8th May across all streaming platforms. A highly energetic indie-pop cut, 'Anywhere with You' blends driving momentum with a cinematic sense of escape, pairing the heartland charm of Bruce Springsteen with the jangling guitar shimmer of The Cure. It’s a restless, emotionally charged anthem that captures the tension between nostalgia and the need to leave something behind.

Brook Fox explains: “Anywhere with You' tells the story of wanting to leave your hometown before drama and jealousy boil over. It draws directly from my relationship with Burry Port, a place that shaped so much of my childhood, but one that feels like it’s deteriorating as I grow older.”

The single also serves as a deliberate companion piece to Together, the opening track on 'Everybody’s in Love'. Designed to mirror and deepen the themes introduced at the start of the record, 'Anywhere with You' expands the emotional world of the EP and hints at the narrative arc still to come. With 'Anywhere with You', Brook Fox offers one last glimpse into the world of 'Everybody’s in Love' before the full EP lands on the May 22nd.

Murray & The Movers - Dirty Laundry.

Murray & The Movers return with ‘Dirty Laundry’, a slow-burning, late-night blues-rock cut steeped in mood, tension and restraint. Fronted by Lizzie Mack, whose voice moves between raw intimacy and controlled power, and anchored by Murray Cook’s instinctive, minimal guitar work, the track leans into a darker, more cinematic space — where restraint and atmosphere take precedence over excess.

There’s a sense of narrative running through Dirty Laundry. It doesn’t rush to reveal itself. Instead, it simmers — drawing the listener into a world of shadow, suggestion and slow-release energy, with Mack’s vocal holding steady at the centre.

Murray & The Movers will also follow up the release of ‘Dirty Laundry’ with ‘Squeaky Clean’, a frisky, electrified reworking that pushes the song into sharp-edged rockabilly territory. ‘Squeaky Clean’ is released on 22nd May and together, the two versions offer contrasting moods — from slow-burn tension to high-energy release — making them a versatile pairing for film, TV and soundtrack placement.

Together, the two tracks reveal both sides of Murray & The Movers: one slow-burning and shadowed, the other sharper, louder and built for speed. Drawing on blues, country, garage rock and classic soul, the band’s sound is never revivalist. Instead, it lives in a distinctly cinematic space — music with dust on its boots, neon in its reflection, and a sense of backstory running through every musical choice.

Mon Rayon - One of a Kind.

Mon Rayon are one of those rare bands that feel entirely their own, somewhere between “a full English breakfast and the Sanremo Music Festival in the 1960s.” Blending orchestral pop, 60s French influences, harpsichord, and sweeping string arrangements, the Stockholm duo create music that feels both meticulous and alive.

Their new single ‘One of a Kind,’ featuring Vira Milton, is the first taste of their debut album, announced for later this year via Flak Records. Written at Miloco Studios with Charlie Hugall, the track brings forward everything that last year’s EP ‘Post Romantic Stress Disorder’ was praised for: tastefulness, melodic sensibility, and a gentle grandeur that continues to define Mon Rayon’s sound.

“Our core idea from the beginning has been that it should feel alive,” explains Josef Ask. “That we play together, that the playing is real. That it should sound organic in some way - that’s probably the idea we’ve embraced most strongly from orchestral pop.”

Scustin - The Lock-In (EP).

Irish quartet Scustin release the hotly anticipated new EP The Lock-In (May 8th), a radiant four-track release which blends visceral post-punk with indie tendencies, creating music which delivers intense and evocative bursts broken up by anthemic, melodic turns. Building on a year of rising momentum, the band fully deliver on their promise. From opening for Inhaler at the Royal Albert Hall, Ulster Hall in Belfast, and St Anne’s Park in Dublin, to appearing on major festival lineups and selling out their own headline shows, they’ve steadily proven their ascent. The four-track release showcases some of their most polished and impactful work to date.

From the bombastic satire of ‘Dodgy Box Pyramid Scheme’, to the biting commentary on Irish identity of ‘Scustinism’, the fizzing grit and humour of ‘Pub Talkin’ and the hypnotic, anthemic, trad-folk tinted closer ‘The Ballad Of Scampi Fries’, the EP captures the band flourishing both musically and lyrically - making music which manages to offer scathing, thought provoking social commentary, whilst retaining a vibrant and loveable sense of charm and humour.

Produced by Richie Kennedy (Interpol, The Murder Capital, Shame, Ride, The Libertines, Last Dinner Party), the EPs guitar led sound is broken up with the subtle addition of keys and brass among the bands punk attitude and indie tendencies. Spacious yet rich in texture, the instrumental backdrops carry a strong sense of depth, all brought into focus by the charismatic delivery of vocalists Joe Hearns and Liam Smith, particularly on ‘The Ballad of Scampi Fries.’

Speaking about the EP, the band add: “The Lock-In is the culmination of everything we’ve built so far, a bit of a sonic tip of the hat to the community that’s grown around us. We’ve spent the early years of this band playing and hanging out in pubs, meeting incredible people along the way, and everything always comes back to a few key things: community, humour and sincerity. That’s what we wanted to capture on this record, and I think we gave it a good shot. As we close that chapter, it feels like we’ve landed on something that’s genuinely connecting with people, you can really feel that in the shows.
