Mystery Art Orchestra - Love (Album).

We have to say this is one wonderful album that delivers all the band promises in their press release, talking of which, we include in full for a clear and concise background. Since the early 2010s, 'Love' has as part of the alliterative phrase 'Live, Laugh, Love' degenerated into a cheesy cliché that acts as a set of self-deceptive blinkers to the actual absence of that capitalistically corrupted trinity.

The noise-pop formation Mystery Art Orchestra (MAO) explores this theme on their second studio album, which has just been released including on vinyl April 3 2026.

Wrapped in soundscapes that, with a touch of self-irony, evoke the over-the-top cheesiness of early shoegaze escapism, repetitive post-punk rhythms, and pathos-laden new-wave anthems, the voices in the eight tracks inquire after emotional belonging, the value of trust, and hedonistic escapes from one’s own reality.

These are by no means excursions into romanticism, but rather an illustration of cracks in a frigid present that looks back on a romanticized past. In no way is the motif of ‘Love’ self-indulgent; it focuses instead on the vacuum left in the wake of its absence. MAO consists of singer and guitarist Tino Bogedaly, André Wlodarski on synthesizers and Bastian Müller on drums. The members live in Berlin and Brandenburg. The tension between urban and rural spaces influences both the band’s cool soundscape and a sense of a lack of belonging and persistent disorientation.

The Surge - You’re In Love With Yourself.

South Coast England alt-rock outfit The Surge return with their sharpest statement yet in new single “You’re In Love With Yourself”, released today 4 April 2026 as the lead track from their upcoming four-track EP.

Built around the band’s trademark tight, heavy sound and cutting lyricism, “You’re In Love With Yourself” taps into a familiar modern trait — the tendency for some people to put themselves front and centre above everything else. Rather than pointing fingers, the track leans into a tongue-in-cheek tone, playfully calling out those whose closest relationship might just be with their own reflection. It’s a knowing, self-aware take that admits none of us are perfect… but some definitely think they are.

The single sets the tone for the forthcoming EP, which sees The Surge expanding on their signature blend of driving riffs and incisive storytelling. Across its four tracks, the record moves through themes of social commentary, relationships, and political observation, all delivered with the energy and precision the band have become known for.

Hailing from across the Hampshire/Dorset border, The Surge have spent the past year writing and recording new material, building momentum ahead of a busy 2026 that will also see the release of their second full-length album — the follow-up to their 2023 debut Amped. Their rise hasn’t gone unnoticed, earning them a nomination for Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2024 Original Music Awards and cementing their place as one of the UK’s most exciting independent acts.

Brand New Heartache - Raise the Shade.

Nashville-based Eleese and Matthew Meschery (Brand New Heartache) are launching their new single, "Raise the Shade" a song that fuses authentic Americana with anthemic indie-pop and dreamy harmonies. It's off the upcoming album, A New Alchemy (July 24,  2026).

The track releases on April 3rd on Mule Kick Records, and features a stellar cast of players; Matthew Szlachetka, Grammy nominated keyboard artist, Jimmy Wallace, Darren King (Mutemath, Earthsuit), and Sarah Aili. It's the first single off of the upcoming album, A New Alchemy (spring 2026) and was produced and mixed by Michael Patterson (Beck, B.R.M.C., She Wants Revenge).

In Eleese's own words: '“Raise the Shade” is about reconciliation — written in the wake of our own dark stretch, when we weren’t connecting and weren’t sure how to find our way back. The song picks up just after a fight, in that fragile space between bitterness and breakthrough. In that moment, it felt like the only way forward was to let a little light and air into the room — and to reconnect with the things that brought us together in the first place.

For us, that meant music, humor, and time in nature. It’s a love song for the aftermath — when connection doesn’t come easy, but you choose it anyway. With lyrical nods to Chaka Khan and The Jayhawks, and a wink toward the hard-earned wisdom of therapy, “Raise the Shade” turns vulnerability into something triumphant."

Frog - Dark Out.

On April 17th, New York’s Frog will release their eighth studio album, Frog for Sale. A continuation of the series that began with 2025’s ‘1000 Variations on the Same Song’ and was followed six months later with ‘The Count’ (which found fans in Wednesday, Friendship, Dry Cleaning, and MJ Lenderman). These twelve songs see the brothers take inspiration from songwriters like Paul McCartney and Buddy Holly.

Since Daniel Bateman returned from a four-year Frog absence (with the addition of his younger brother Steve on drums) to release the highly acclaimed ‘Grog,’ the band has been incredibly prolific. Frog for Sale is their third album in just 14 months, while the band have been on the road for multiple tours of North America with numerous sell-out shows, in addition to sessions for the likes of KEXP, WFMU, and WFUV.

“This is an album about how money sometimes gets in the way of love,” says Daniel. Aptly, while Frog continues to barrel ahead with a growing audience in tow, the album’s cover, a childhood image of Daniel holding Steve as a baby, allows the brothers a chance to look back.

Divorce Attorney - Always Something (EP).

South UK art-rock 5-piece Divorce Attorney release the striking debut EP Always Something (April 3rd). Showcasing the band’s brooding, alternative-rock meets shoegaze and post-punk flavoured sound, the EP captures the essence of the band’s live sound with its raw edge whilst highlighting the depth of their musicality with inventive song structures, psychedelic flourishes and vibrant dynamics.

Produced by Spencer Withey (Back/Burden, Man/Woman/Chainsaw; Cowboy, Alien Chicks) and mastered by Felix Davis (Geese, CQ Wrestling, Westside Cowboy), the EP brings together dark, bubbling live instrumentation with affecting melodies, cathartic, emotive delivery and poetic lyricism to create a sound unique to Divorce Attorney.

Speaking about the EP, frontman and rhythm guitarist Nathan Key explains: “A lot of the influences into the EP were 80’s to Noughties goth and post-punk and from that one of the principles going into the project was to make something still in line with the gothic aesthetic, but also danceable so people at our shows can engage in a way they want to receive the music.”

Making a name for themselves as a live band touring across the UK, Divorce Attorney have opened for the likes of SANAM (Beirut), Alien Chicks, University, Lunar Vacation, Lifeguard among other bands, played sold out shows at The Windmill, Green Door Store, and have played on Homegrown Festival & Wanderlust Stages. With growing support across tastemaker press and national radio, the band are building a driving momentum into the release of the new EP.

Thomm Jutz - Ring-A-Bellin (Album).

“I wanted to start recording every song with the smallest musical unit appropriate to the song,” says singer-songwriter, producer, guitarist, and composer Thomm Jutz of the process behind recording his new album, Ring-A-Bellin’. “And only add what felt necessary and relevant.” That’s what Jutz’s carefully crafted songs deserve, and through a series of thoughtful recording sessions, that’s exactly what they received. “Some songs started and ended with just me singing and playing, others with me and bass player extraordinaire, Mark Fain, or as a trio with Tim O’Brien and Michael Rinne.”

All of Ring-A-Bellin’s main ingredients were played live, in the room, especially Jutz’s at once soothing and haunting vocals. “It was extremely liberating to record like this, in the moment, with almost no premeditation, no direction to the players, not even much, or any, direction to myself. It felt immensely freeing to my guitar playing and reconnected me with an energy I wasn’t sure I still had.”

With Ring-A-Bellin’, the German-born, Nashville-based Jutz shows off his alchemy-like songwriting talents for which he has been tapped by the likes of John Prine, Nanci Griffith, Todd Snider, and Billy Strings, to name a few. These tunes are modern creations, steeped in history, but crafted by a man with his finger on a much deeper pulse, influenced by the analytical psychology of Carl Jung as much as he was by the Stanley Brothers or John Hartford.

The result of Jutz’s involved and thoughtful process is an album that feels old but not nostalgic, and whatever the opposite of gimmicky might be. Ring-A-Bellin’ is a shining example of what it looks like to respectfully carry the torch of traditional music into the modern era.

Fanclub - Blaire - Beverly Kills - Mystery Art Orchestra

'Imprint' from Fanclub is a beautifully flowing song with appealing vocals and a finely arranged musical back drop. With their music aptly described as Punkgaze, Blaire give us 'Mimer' a distinct and hook filled song that helps explain their musics description. Gothenburg’s Beverly Kills might have created a stir locally, however 'In This Dim Light' might well be bright enough (pun intended) for their music to get noticed far and wide. We have the A side and one of the two B sides from Mystery Art Orchestra's new single as the Berlin based band demonstrate just how good their take on post punk music is!

Fanclub - Imprint.

Fanclub have just shared their new single "Imprint". Fanclub is Mike Lee, Leslie Crunkilton, and Daniel Schmidt from Austin, TX. Mike and Leslie immediately knew they wanted to craft songs driven by their love of all things twee, indie, and dreamy.

What they didn’t expect was that the songs would come out as the most mature and dazzling things they’ve ever worked on. What they also didn’t know was that Fanclub would give us a distinctly new sound that is also so incredibly nostalgic.

On the heels of their debut EP release with already over half a million streams, they want to further craft songs that find hope in the melancholy and bring that same sentiment on the road. With more and more tour dates being announced, hopefully you’ll get to see for yourself.

Tour Dates:
05/22 - Houston, TX - White Swan Live
05/22 - Austin, TX - Hotel Vegas.

Blaire - Mimer.

Building a kingdom of textured and multifaceted guitar music—brilliantly labelled as punkgaze, Blaire creates sonics that is both visceral and maligned, maximalist and minimal. Hidden behind an explosion of layered guitars and noise lies subtlety and beauty—something Blaire have come to perfect in their two-year career.

Blaire is proud to release the new single into the world. After turning plenty of heads last year with two astounding tracks, 'Youth' and 'Smiling', Blaire's new track, 'Mimer', is out today via GD FRNDS.

Blaire has never sounded so polished and forward. Their pretence of sweltering punk swashed underneath a shoegaze current remains omnipresent, though embeds itself in a dichotomy of deepened pop movements. Using a synth for the first time in a Blaire track, there was a conscious effort to make a dreamy and otherworldly vibe on 'Mimer'.

Sparked by the passing of a family member, Blaire frontman Ben Stagg constructed a contrast of "efflorescent dreaming" and "ephemeral nightmares" to deal with or distract himself in that time.

"Mimer takes a look at the idea of distance," explains Stagg. "Whether that be a friend who lives far away, someone who's passed, a favourite place, country, anything. It is a reflection on the fact that you can still feel whatever's missing from you in a range of ways, and can be 'mimed' by something else."

Beverly Kills - In This Dim Light.

Beverly Kills are creating an impressive name for themselves as one of Gothenburg’s up and coming bands to watch. Last year saw the band release ‘Fourteen’, ‘Melodrama’ and ‘Dreamless’, gathered great acclaim from both local and international press including being mentioned as one of the “Best Swedish Indie Debuts 2018” by HYMN and being nominated for "Breakthrough of the Year” in the Gaffa Awards. This also saw the band playing Gothenburg music showcase festival Viva Sounds and a side show at this years by:Larm Festival along with shows supporting Agent blå, Moaning(USA- Sub-pop) and Västerbron.

The release of ‘Revellers’ earlier this year came with the announcement of their debut physical release ‘In This Dim Light/Melodrama’ limited edition 7” vinyl through Australian Indie label Hell Beach. ‘Revellers’ received a plethora of editorial support among being added to Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlists, featured in Hype Machines most blogged charts and saw new live dates including taking the stage at this year’s SPOT Festival and shows supporting Terra and Westkust. ‘In This Dim Light’ signifies a new era for Beverly Kills as they join the Welfare Sounds roster, aligning with amazing fellow label artists such as Linn Koch Emmery, Terra and Tyred Eyes which is set to propel the band forward into a future that is looking very bright.

‘In This Dim Light’ may be Beverly Kills most compelling single to date and further encapsulates the bands signature sounds as they suck you in with dreamy and infectious hooks then spit you right back out with raw and thumping energy. The initial tone of the song is set by Alma Westerlund’s beautiful vocals that flow effortlessly over melodic, dreamy synths which is then completely augmented as Viggo Mattson and Hampus Höggren lay down a powerful stomping rhythm section that propels the song into full motion.

As the song builds towards its final climax, John Jonsén’s punchy and articulate guitar performance carries the song through sections of tension and release as the band artfully blend raw and energetic sonic landscapes with dreamy lush vocals. Lyrically, Alma poetically reflecting on the type of people who compulsively start talking about their exes after they’ve had a drink or two, ending up ranting about them for the rest of the evening, almost as a process of self-purification.“A gray wall can become a sky or an ocean if you look close enough, we played an eye for an eye and you took them both”. ‘In This Dim Light’ clearly demonstrates Beverly Kills song writing prowess and further establishes their emergence in the ever-exciting Gothenburg indie scene.

Mystery Art Orchestra - Enjoy The Violence / Losing Relation.

Berlin-based Post-Punk / New-Wave band Mystery Art Orchestra released their new EP last Friday. Following six years of work on their debut album “Prismatic Dream” (2018) and several live performances, Mystery Art Orchestra returned to the studio and produced the 7" Vinyl “Enjoy The Violence”.

This cheeky new EP contains three new tracks and comes with an emergence of new darker sounds. Light-minded or not, fragments of sounds are the only form that Mystery Art Orchestra trust. Measured against the east german landscape of their hometowns, its only slightly sentimental.

Hypnotic, disruptive and sometimes strangely familiar, almost as if different musical decades have been torn apart and stitched back together in unexpected ways.

"If you like blurry guitar sounds, melancholic vocals and long stretches of instrumentals lining your car rides, lonely walks or meaningful stares out of the windows, you’ve reached the right address with Mystery Art Orchestra"

Eliza Shaddad - Becca Mancari - Clare Means - Omni - Mystery Art Orchestra

Eliza Shaddad - White Lines.

Background - Eliza Shaddad is back with 'White Lines', the first preview from her long-awaited debut album Future.

Eliza Shaddad's singular artistry was not formed in any one crucible alone, her work is the flourishing product of modernity without borders. Born to Sudanese and Scottish parents, she’s the descendant of a long line of progressive artists and poets dating back to the 1800s. She also speaks four languages and holds an MPhil in Philosophy and spent a postgraduate year at the Guildhall School studying Jazz Vocal Improvisation. Not beholden to the politics of indie or commercial regionalism, every facet of her music, from vocals to lyricism to performance and production, is the purest distillation of herself.

Even without the fascinating esoteric trivia that radiates from of her unique background, Eliza is a musician fit for the world stage. Having released two EPs on indie label Beatnik Creative, her music has found acclaim amongst the loftiest tastemakers. On the airwaves Shaddad’s slick songwriting has gained followings from all the key tastemakers across Beats 1, Radio X and BBC Radio 1, 2, and 6Music, along with critical support from publications as diverse as FADER, Sterogum, i-D, Nylon, Wonderland and The Sunday Times to name a few.

Her latest single ‘White Lines’ is the first to be taken from her upcoming album Future, which is produced by her Mercury-nominated longtime collaborator Chris Bond who also worked on her Run and Waters EPs. With it’s chorus-soaked guitars and throbbing leviathan bass grooves, it grips with a vitality and cleverness that’s rarely seen in indie of any period. Nothing feels spare in Eliza’s impassioned performance as she voraciously co-opts a nostalgic love of classic melodic-pop songwriting into her effortless alt-rock soundscapes. On writing the song during a spell of solitary travelling up Australia’s east coast Eliza says: "White Lines is about the jubilation felt on finally being brave, making the right decision, and heading into the great unknown." TWITTER.

Eliza Shaddad's vocals are melodic and smooth on 'White Lines' whilst the music arrangement is faster paced as it adds layers of instrumentation and ups the energy level. Indie pop/rock with plenty of hooks.

Becca Mancari - Golden (Acoustic).

Background - Becca Mancari has released a new recording of her song "Golden" that originally appeared on her 2017 debut album Good Woman. The new version was produced by Juan Solorzano and features harmonies from Mancari's Bermuda Triangle bandmates Brittany Howard and Jesse Lafser.

"'Golden' is one of those songs that just keeps coming back. The story lives on. For this version, I wanted to recreate the song in way that focused on the vocals and felt dreamy like a memory," explains Mancari. "Juan Solorzano produced and wrote the most beautiful strings on this song which help bring the listener to such a special place.

I have been singing 'Golden' on the road with my other band, Bermuda Triangle, and I was thrilled to have my band mates and best friends, Jesse Lafser and Brittany Howard, on harmonies. It's just such a special moment for me, tracked in the same room at Trace Horse Studies. I could not be more excited to share this stripped down version of 'Golden!'" WEBSITE.

The new acoustic version of 'Golden' is gorgeous. The vocals are pristine, the harmonies beautiful, and the music is both calm and arranged to a very high standard. A perfect unwind song to dream away to.

Clare Means - Hollywood Zoo.

Background - In today's world, the definition of a Folk/Americana artist is constantly evolving. Finding roots in the politically turbulent 60s, folk artists used their platform to highlight hypocrisies and expose wrongdoings whether they be social or political. Los Angeles singer-songwriter, Clare Means, is bringing the activism back to folk music with her new single, "Hollywood Zoo."

She is using her voice to express how she feels about the endless misogyny that is circulating around the city she calls home. "Hollywood Zoo" brings to light the constant state of sexism and mistreatment women in entertainment have had to deal with. Clare knows firsthand saying, "I've had experiences that were unsettling as have many women I know in the industry."

Clare Means is known in the LA music scene for her smoky voice, memorable melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. She’s about to release her fourth studio album, Sidewalk Astronomy, a cohesive patchwork of musings on life in Los Angeles, love, forgiveness, and the recent loss of her estranged father. As Clare says,

"Most of the songs were written over the course of a couple years and were sparked by a variety of moments in my life... the day I found out my father was sick, when I fell in love, when I knew my relationship was doomed, when I got my heart broken, the day my father died, and when I woke up from a strange dream about sheep." Clare’s quirky take on life is fresh and comforting at the same time. She’s a true underdog’s champion. WEBSITE.

Clare Means vocals are earnest, passionate and have plenty of power on 'Hollywood Zoo' a song with a message that is clearly delivered. Indie pop meets rock in a very catchy manner!!

Omni - Confessional.

Background - As the good fortune of Omni continues to soar, Chunklet is fortunate to release yet another single by this Atlanta three piece. Omni now shares the second single from Chunklet, "Confessional" on Immersive Atlanta.

"Confessional" follows the release of "Sunset Preacher".  Recorded exclusively for this single, “Sunset Preacher” and “Confessional” are a resounding one-two in the gut reaffirming, yet again, that Omni are far and away one of the best bands going right now.

Frankie and Phillip continue to tighten the screws in their song writing and effortlessly bounding further down the path started by their masterpiece records on Trouble in Mind. Why is it every time you hear new Omni, it just makes you reach out your bowl and say “yes, I’ll have more please!” BANDCAMP.

Feisty and with of plenty of hooks 'Confessional' is hard to pigeonhole. The songs musical arrangement reminds me a little of Television, I think it's the guitar style, however the band carve out a fresh energised sound that is very much their own. Music like this is made to perform live, something the band plan to do very soon.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mystery Art Orchestra - Awake.

Background - So the world did not end in 2012 after all – but that same year, the German singer and guitarist Tino Bogedaly was drawn to Berlin to discover a new one. The city's rock 'n' roll underground, centred around the legendary 8mm bar, provided what he’d been missing out in the sticks. Inspired by the local music culture – he founded the Mystery Art Orchestra.

What started as a warmer psychedelic sound turned cooler when André Wlodarski joined the band on keyboards and has since evolved into a modern interpretation of post-punk - but without losing sight of its roots. Drummer Bastian Müller is the driving force, giving minimalistic rhythm to varied guitar arrangements while electronic bass and synthesizer add another dimension, echoing and observing the musical scenery from an ethereal distance.

The result is sometimes disruptive and sometimes strangely familiar, almost as if different musical decades have been torn apart and stitched back together in unexpected ways. After several live shows in Germany, England and Portugal, Bogedaly, Wlodarski and Müller have produced the debut album "Prismatic Dream", which will be released on 25 May 2018 on their own label robojim. It seems we can be lucky the apocalypse has been postponed for now. WEBSITE.

One of eleven tracks on the forthcoming 'Prismatic Dream' album, 'Awake' is a very good indicator of the bands style and musical direction. What's more the overall quality of this collection is consistently impressive and very addictive. I am confident to say that if 'Awake' is your thing, the album will be a massive delight. Mystery Art Orchestra are unpretentious, solid and just get on with being a notable rocker of a band.
