This is The Black Crowes during the making of their second album 'The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion' with some of the tracks close to the final album release versions and a few at an earlier stage.
The Black Crowes remain one of my all time favorite live bands and their studio offerings have never disappointed. On three of these songs I had to go back to the official release to check for any differences, there are, but not that much.
The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is the second album by the The Black Crowes, released on May 12th, 1992. It was the first record by the band to feature Marc Ford on lead guitar, replacing Jeff Cease, who left the year before.
It features four hit singles; "Remedy" ( number 1 on the Album Rock Tracks chart for 11 weeks), "Thorn in My Pride" (number 1 on the Album Rock Tracks chart for four weeks), "Sting Me" (number 1 on the Album Rock Tracks chart for two weeks), and "Hotel Illness" (number 1 on the Album Rock Tracks chart for six weeks). It was a record for an album to feature four album rock number-one hits (previously set by Tom Petty in 1989, with three). The album itself reached the top spot of the Billboard 200 album chart, propelled by the success of these singles.
In 2006, the album was ranked number 100 on Guitar World magazine's list of the greatest 100 guitar albums of all time.

The Black Crowes - Live In London - The Following Evening

Back on the 26th July, I put up the full concert from the 19th March 2006 at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire.
The following evening (yep - I make that the 20th) they played a second concert, and here is where you start to learn just how cool, unique, talented, and other thingies the Black Crowes are.
They play a very different set, different songs, unique jams, and a stonking performance.
Now the 19th March gig can still be downloaded, so if you are new to the band, why not download the first part of the 19th and compare it to the first part of the 20th March performance.
If you are not a fan at the end of both, do the following. Go and stand in front of a full length mirror, look yourself up and down (no touching) and say out loud, "I am not a rock'n'roller".
There is no known cure for this condition, however a quick dose of James Blunt, or five minutes in front of MTV (sorry it needs to be switched on), may cause sufficient reaction to try again.
Here in absolutely crystal clear stereo soundboard, is the full 20th March 2006 concert, by The Black Crowes, at London's Shepherds Bush Empire.
Buy some Black Crowes music HERE.
I am sitting on (OK - not literally) eight Cd's of live Black Crowes covers, of other artists material going way back in time, along with a lot of other studio and live performance nuggets, so be patient, I will start to work my way through these soon for sharing.
Remember The Black Crowes have always been pretty cool about boots, so please think about the official stuff as well.
(Edit 01/Aug/2010 - I must have been in a bit of a flippent mood to say the least, when I originally posted this, still the Crowes are one fine live band and I will try and get round to sharing some more).

The Black Crowes - Live In London

Well actually your welcome to stay, have a look around if you like, but expect some Black Crowes along the way!
A pristine recording awaits, recorded at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on the 19th March 2006.
An excellent venue for a rock'n'roll gig, not to big, so it gets hot, and you can get up close to the band..
This is the full concert.
REPLACEMENT LINK IN DOWNLOADS BELOW OR CLICK ON THE PICTURE (21ST OCTOBER 2009).
A little feed back is always appreciated, especially as I am sitting on some more Black Crowes treasure.
You can buy The Black Crowes albums HERE.
You can visit the official Black Crowes site HERE (it's excellent if you have not been there before get there now!).
