Schizo Fun Addict - French Films - Simone White - Georgian - Silke Bischoff

Schizo Fun Addict - Desolate Ecstasy (Album).

Schizo Fun Addict New Jersey’s finest and the first band ever to grace to grooves of Fruits de Mer Records bring you their new album, ‘Desolate Ecstasy’. Is it dreampop? shoegaze? drone? maybe a bit of all three - you'll have to have a listen a judge for yourself. (A limited edition vinyl release happened today 10 June, however it was sold out on pre order a while back).

Over to Jet Wintzer from the band to explain the background to the band/album “Desolate Ecstasy a concept album about the 27 year career of Schizo Fun Addict. We were the first band on Fruits de Mer Records prophesied to be "a label of love" by Ian McCan reviewing us in Record Collector. 

We were Mark Barton's favorite band (see his liner notes to our lp "The Last Wave"). Greg Healey gave us 5 stars twice in Shindig! Brian Bordello is our biggest fan. Everett True said we were as good as The Stone Roses in Mojo. Prog compared our "El Shoegaze Bossa Nova" lp to Jobim and Brasil 66; Dave Thompson in Goldmine told everyone we were "the greatest musical secret of the 21st century." Another prophecy which remains true..." It’s true, the band stepped in to record covers of George Martin’s ‘Theme One’ and the intro theme to ‘Ogdens Nut Gone Flake’ back in 2008 when the label was all but dead in the water before we’d even learned how to doggy-paddle.

French Films - Dearly

The return of French Films continues with Dearly, the band’s second comeback single. After almost ten years away, the new material has brought French Films back into the conversation around Finnish indie music. Helsingin Sanomat recently published a major interview on the band’s return, and this weekend French Films will play their first live show in years at Kesärauha Festival in Turku.

In the 2010s, French Films toured across Europe and Asia, played Roskilde, and became one of the most notable Finnish indie rock exports of their generation. Their biggest song has passed one million Spotify streams, despite being released in an era when CD was still a central music format.

Dearly is not nostalgia cosplay. It sounds like a band reconnecting with the thing that made them matter in the first place: bright guitars, romantic urgency and a little bit of northern restlessness.

Simone White - Fortunately Gone.

Simone White has teamed up neo-classical composer, cellist, and producer Brent Arnold, and the pair have conjured-up a delightful take on The Breeders’ “Fortunately Gone”. Stripping away the grunge-infused stylistics of the original and replenishing them with bright string sections and crisp vocal duets; the result is a refreshing revision of the 1990 ‘Pod’ album classic.

As Simone White says of the track: “With pulsing plucked strings launching into a playful and soaring arrangement, this delicate short duet is sweet and like two swallows flying on a spring day, suddenly gone.” Tying-in neatly with her new album release ‘Letter To The Last Generation’, the producer of "Fortunately Gone”, Brent Arnold worked with Simone on the stunning recent single “Blueprint”, which preceded the record. "Fortunately Gone” is streaming on all services now.

Hawaii born singer-songwriter Simone White has released eight albums spanning simple acoustic folk, Americana and electronic indie. You may remember her from her records on the UK’s Honest Jon's label: I am the Man (2007) , Yakiimo (2009) and Silver Silver (2012) all critically acclaimed by Der Spiegel among others (MOJO, Uncut). German Rolling Stone made a five page focus piece on her in 2009 calling her "one of the really great American songwriters".

Georgian - Medusa.

Manchester-based Georgian have shared the final introduction to their forthcoming EP ‘Crackled Grounds’ with focus track ‘Medusa’ ahead of their debut full-length release on Friday. via Heist or Hit (Westside Cowboy, Her’s).
 
Formed in 2024 and with three previous singles in their musical catalogue, Georgian are a five-piece outfit comprising Georgia McKiernan (vocals, acoustic guitar), James Poole, James Polglase (both lead and rhythm guitar, BVs), Connor Alder (drums) and (bass). Together Georgian have an expansive sound that reflects each of the band’s tastes, retaining a modern approach, but keeping the sound of their influences alive. Wrangling ‘60s pop, country, folk, shoegaze, psychedelia and further-flung traditional styles, their songs tell tales of navigating harsh emotional environments and lived experiences.
 
The debut ‘Crackled Grounds EP’ was laid down with producer Arno Stols at Magenta Studio in the peaceful Amsterdam countryside. Taking a leaf from Brian Jonestown Massacre’s melodic revivalism, Georgian began emulating the warm, unsettling, mysterious 60s-70s production of artists to which they had mutually become accustomed. Lyrically taking the listener to a place of escapism, the songs tell of battling the elements, female empowerment, and deep-rooted nostalgia.

Silke Bischoff - Northern Lights.

For far too long, the artistic legacy of iconic German dark wave and synthpop act Silke Bischoff has been withheld from the world. This will change soon with "Tears - A Collection of Silke Bischoff Songs", which is the first step in making these important milestones of the goth scene officially available to the public again. The compilation album with carefully remastered tracks and even a new song will be released on September 4, 2026.

Silke Bischoff comments: "The track 'Northern Lights' was conceived during one of our creative forays into the Netherlands", Axel Kretschmann recalls. "We had rented a beach bungalow in Zandvoort to dive completely into our music for a while. Even all our studio gear and the instruments got carted there by our label, which meant that we were working under near perfect conditions. By the way, the song title, 'Northern Lights', had quite a profane origin. It was the name of our favourite brand of 'funny cigarettes' at the time. And yes, they were quite helpful and inspiring our creativity back in the days."

Silke Bischoff were an iconic band that left a massive legacy and were mournfully remembered far beyond the electronic and goth scenes that they championed particularly in Germany during the 90s. Their albums are regarded milestones until today, but internal friction, legal issues, and most of all the tragic passing of one of its founding members, Felix Flaucher, has left their works in a limbo for many years. The compilation "Tears - A Collection of Silke Bischoff Songs" is the first step in making their oeuvre available to the public again.

“‘Rock N’ Roll’ is the companion song to PLHH,” said Marian’s Dylan Ward (he/him). “It captures the loudness and hardness of the record, and sits directly in the transition point between adolescence and adulthood. This song is the anthem to doubling down, sticking to your guns, and turning up the sound to block the noise.”

“K-Leigh,” meanwhile, channels the same loud, carefree rock energy, but with a gentler message. Jerry-Faye Ward, who works as a teacher in addition to being a musician, wrote the song after seeing so many children having a tough time fitting in. “It’s hard to know your worth if you don’t have anyone telling you that the things you’re insecure about are insignificant to everyone but you,” she said. “This song is for anyone who’s ever felt left out.”

Teagan Johnston - Beat a Dead Horse.

Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist Teagan Johnston shares her latest offering, “Beat a Dead Horse,” a deeply reflective and emotionally charged single that examines the lingering impact of past relationships and the process of releasing what no longer serves you. Rooted in indie rock and singer-songwriter sensibilities, the track moves through grief, awareness, and ultimately toward a renewed sense of hope and forward motion.

The song was sparked by an unexpected moment during a psychic reading in New York City. “I’m not sure what I believe when it comes to psychics,” Teagan shares, “but something she said really hit me. She told me I was allowing old experiences of dark and painful love to dictate how I love now and in the future.” In that moment, Teagan felt a renewed urgency to step out of cycles of emotional repetition and into something more present and alive.

That sense of reflection carried directly into the song’s visual world. The accompanying video was filmed during a trip to Spain with Teagan’s parents, revisiting a place she hadn’t been since her time living there between the ages of 13-14. “Those years in Spain were before the trauma I reference in the song,” she explains. “It felt like the perfect place to reconnect with feelings of optimism and openness.”

Armed only with a digital camera, Teagan approached the shoot with a return-to-basics mindset, documenting beauty, colour, and everyday moments with a sense of curiosity and emotional clarity. The result is a visual companion that mirrors the song’s central theme: revisiting the past not to live in it, but to finally move beyond it.

Brother Wallace - You’re The Man.

Brother Wallace doesn’t just have a voice, he has command. Now, the West Point, Georgia-bred singer, pianist, and soul revivalist shares 'You’re The Man' alongside an official music video, offering a powerful new centre piece from his forthcoming debut album, 'Electric Love', which arrives this Friday, 8 May via ATO Records.

A darker, harder-hitting side of Wallace’s “Electric Love soul music,” 'You’re The Man' moves with a moody ferocity — a song that stares straight at pride, power, and the stories we tell ourselves when we think we’re untouchable. Built for big rooms and bigger feelings, it’s a performance that doesn’t blink: Wallace’s vocals land with preacher’s conviction and street-corner truth, carrying a narrative that’s both unflinching and strangely compassionate. “That song comes from someone I know personally getting caught up in a treacherous life and thinking they could somehow escape the consequences,” Wallace says. “But then of course they ended up in trouble.”
 
Now midway through a spring tour supporting St. Paul & The Broken Bones across the US, Wallace is set to arrive in the UK for the first time this May. The visit includes performances at The Great Escape and Cross the Tracks, as well as two headline shows in Manchester and London.

Asara - Thank You, Thank You.

Following the success of his first single "Cute," Asara returns with "Thank You, Thank You," a new track announcing the release of his debut album "028 Crises," scheduled for July 3rd on the Géographie label (Dog Park, Marble Arch, etc.).

With its catchy melody, this second track is built on the groove of a drum machine derived from an old Farfisa keyboard from the 70s, which belonged to his grandfather. Balancing sweetness and gentle melancholy, the song infuses the track with a touch of humor, also present in the music video, and radiates a decidedly positive energy.

Asara is a French multi-instrumentalist artist launching her first solo project. For the past four years, she has been a member of the band Dog Park, where she has played guitar, bass, keyboards, and vocals. She now opens up a more intimate space with her solo project, Asara.

Composed throughout 2025, this debut album is structured like a sonic diary, almost a documentary, retracing this year rich in personal emotions. This collection of songs places the voice at the heart of the project, and the eight tracks that make up "028 Crises" oscillate between melancholy and rhythmic energy. Asara recorded at Studio 48L with her longtime friend and sound engineer, Baptiste Leroy.

The Call & Todd Rundgren - The Walls Came Down.

We are catching up somewhat with this release on Beehive Candy, however we feel it's more than worth a share, so here's the back story & please enjoy. Critically acclaimed American modern rock band, The Call along with legendary performer Todd Rundgren announce a fiery call to action on a new studio version of The Call's "The Walls Came Down", which is out now. "The Walls Came Down" is a politically charged 1983 song orginally recorded by The Call, known for its Cold War themes and biblical Jericho allegory, featured on their album Modern Romans and popularized by its black-and-white MTV video, with singer Michael Been leading the band. The song reached #17 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock tracks in 1983.

Michael Been died of a heart attack in 2010, and the remaining band members (Tom Ferrier, Scott Musick, Jim Goodwin) reunited occasionally but never officially broke up. Taking over lead vocals, this is Todd Rundgren’s first collaboration with The Call.

Released as the lead track from the The Call’s 1983 album Modern Romans, “The Walls Came Down” landed in a world steeped in political tension. The Cold War was at its height: the Berlin Wall still divided East and West, the nuclear arms race dominated headlines, and Reagan’s “Star Wars” defense initiative was on everyone’s lips. Fear of global conflict wasn’t abstract—it was nightly news. Against that backdrop, The Call delivered a track that felt less like a pop song and more like a warning broadcast.

Four decades later, “The Walls Came Down” remains one of the most enduring political anthems of its time. It captures the uneasy heartbeat of 1983, but its message remains timeless. Every generation has its walls—literal and symbolic—and every wall eventually falls. Todd Rundgren would sometimes perform a cover version of “The Walls Came Down” in his solo concerts and get an enthusistic reactions. The remaing Call band members (Jim Goodwin, Tom Ferrier, Scott Musick) came across his videos on Youtube and reached out to see if he would like to collaborate on a new version.

Bea Elmy Martin - Deer Tick - Eauclaire - Susto Stringband - Georgian

Bea Elmy Martin - Written On Me.

Bea Elmy Martin is carving out a vital space within the UK alternative landscape. London born and bred, her music is defined by emotional precision, blending ethereal vocals, orchestral intimacy and brooding electronics. Raised on the sounds of classic soul artists like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Donny Hathaway, Bea developed an early understanding of melody and feeling, using songwriting as a way to process life, love and loss from a young age. She describes songwriting as her journal, a way of breaking overwhelming emotions into something tangible and manageable, allowing moments of beauty, pain and connection to surface naturally.

After the release of her 2021 debut single “Blue Escape”, which earned early BBC tastemaker support from Jack Saunders and Lauren Laverne, Bea began a slow, intentional creative journey alongside her producer Dominick J Goldsmith (HÆLOS). That collaboration led to Under The Yew (Vol. 1), released in May 2025, a luminous meditation on loss, healing and renewal. She has continued that emotional thread through subsequent releases from Under The Yew (Vol. 2), including “Lost”, “Born To Fly”, “Unscarred” and more recently “Anouk”, each one deepening the world of the project ahead of the arrival of her upcoming album Under The Yew (Vol. 2).

“This project has been a personal excavation,” says Martin. “Under The Yew transforms loss into light, each track a step toward resilience.” The record draws comparisons from Air and Portishead to Billie Marten and Adrianne Lenker, all anchored by Bea’s raw emotional clarity. Her new single “Written On Me” offers another intimate chapter in that journey, this time turning toward love, closeness and the ways another person can become part of you. The track captures the feeling of falling in love and becoming deeply intertwined with someone over time. “I wrote ‘Written On Me’ at home one night,” Bea says. “I remember going in without too much of a plan, just a feeling I couldn’t shake. I started playing around with a few ideas and this one just sort of fell out naturally. It didn’t feel forced at all, which I think is why it ended up being such an honest song.”

Deer Tick - Everything Born.

On 5th June, Providence’s Deer Tick will release their ninth studio album, 'Coin-O-Matic', via ATO. This week, they tease the album with a new single, the intimate 'Everything Born', which touches on the LP’s underlying theme of impermanence. The band’s guitarist/singer Ian O’Neil shares: “‘Everything Born’ was written quickly about the tenuousness of life and the precious time we have to spend with the people that come into our lives. It’s about family, friends, neighbors, strangers and how these thoughts burrow a little deeper the older we get. I was thinking about my son and the people of Providence, RI while writing it.” 

Deer Tick recently went into Rhode Island’s Big Nice Studio and filmed the song live. 'Coin-O-Matic' casts a bright light on a little-known facet of the American mythos: the hidden histories of the band’s home state of Rhode Island, where the everyday dramas of working-class families long collided with the menace of the mafia underworld. As they tapped into their infinite fascination with that strange duality, singer/guitarist John McCauley, guitarist/singer Ian O’Neil, drummer/singer Dennis Ryan, and bassist Christopher Ryan assembled a batch of songs exploring desperation, grief, redemption, and resilience with both cinematic detail and lived-in emotionality. A sharp new turn from one of indie-rock’s most enduringly vital forces, Coin-O-Matic arrives as a complicated love letter to a way of life slowly slipping from the collective memory.       
 
The follow-up to Emotional Contracts (hailed by Uncut as one of 2023’s best albums), Coin-O-Matic takes its title from a cigarette-vending-machine company that served as the headquarters of Raymond Patriarca—a legendary mobster who ran one of the most ruthless crime families in U.S. history. “If you grew up in Rhode Island years ago, you’d see all these mobsters on the news and then run into them at a restaurant on Federal Hill,” says McCauley, referring to Providence’s version of Little Italy. “They were criminals but also very colorful characters, and I wanted the album to partly reflect a certain nostalgia for that kind of seediness.”

Eauclaire - Heaven On Earth.

“Heaven On Earth” is Eauclaire’s (pronounced “ō-claire”) latest indie-rock anthem, born not in a studio, but in the open desert. Written at the Heaven on Earth Music Festival in Moab, Utah, right beneath the Looking Glass Arch, the song captures a moment where awe meets the ordinary. With driving guitars, heartfelt vocals, and a chorus that feels both intimate and expansive, “Heaven On Earth” wrestles with getting out of your head and back into the present—back into the beauty that’s been there all along.

The bridge takes that idea literally: the gang vocals were recorded live on top of the Looking Glass Arch, with voices echoing across the canyon as the sun dipped low. It’s a song about noticing—wildflowers, starlight, golden hour, morning light—and realizing that heaven isn’t somewhere distant or abstract. It’s here. It’s now. And it’s found in the everyday moments we’re so tempted to rush past.

Formed by college friends Bryant Urich, Kyle Kicker and Justin Barnett in 2010, Eauclaire (pronounced “ō-claire”) released their acclaimed debut, Océan Bleu, in 2019, followed by 2022’s Timber, the latter of which chronicles a deeply personal season of loss and rediscovery for the band. Eauclaire’s single “Depths” was showcased in the CW and Netflix series All American, and their music has also been featured on MTV, MTV2, and in various international advertising campaigns.

Susto Stringband - Hands In The Dirt.

Susto Stringband, led by frontman Justin Osborne of the highly lauded alt-country band Susto, just released their new single “Hands In The Dirt.” The track comes from their upcoming Susto Stringband (Volume 2) LP, which is out on May 29 via Missing Piece Records. The album features bluegrass and old-time reworkings of Susto favorites alongside a couple tracks that have never been released including today’s new single, which Osborne wrote before Susto began to take shape. Built around a mournful fiddle, the song reminds the listener to literally touch grass in times of turmoil and despair.

“‘Hands In The Dirt’ is an older tune of mine that actually predates Susto,” says Osborne. “I wrote it based on some advice my dad gave me in my 20s, when I was feeling burned out from DIY touring, and ready to give up on the dreams of writing and performing that I’d been pursuing. His advice was basically to work harder (lol) which over time has proven to be sound advice. 

My dad passed away back in 2020, and since then I’ve enjoyed bringing this one back into the sets from time to time, because it really reminds me of my dad and makes him feel closer. It was a blast to work up this Susto Stringband version of the song for Volume 2, and I’m really proud to finally be re-sharing a song that I’ve had such a personal connection to for many years.”

The first introduction to their forthcoming EP is the alternative Western-inspired title track and new single ‘Crackled Grounds’, which atmospherically recalls a barren apocalyptic landscape where the sun is blazing and rain feels like a distant past. Blending haunting imagery with beautiful instrumentation and poignant vocals, it is a mournful song that also inspires reflection and hope. The band says; “This song was probably a result of watching Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and listening to Nancy & Lee within the same week. We got the opening riff and then it blossomed very quickly from there. It feels like the ultimate culmination of our journey so far.”

Far Caspian - Emily Hines - Georgian - Gelli Haha

Far Caspian - An Outstretched Hand / Rain From Here to Kerry.

Far Caspian is Irish singer-song writer and producer Joel Johnston. Joel writes, records and performs everything on his albums from his studio in Leeds, UK and tours as a 6-piece band. Far Caspian have released two albums to date and sold out numerous shows across the UK, EU and USA whilst quietly building a streaming audience internationally totalling over 200m streams across platforms.  Autoficion is Far Caspian's third album due July 25th.

On his new album Autofiction, Far Caspian’s Joel Johnston is learning to make peace with the cards he’s been dealt. Following his Crohn’s disease diagnosis in 2021, Johnston felt stuck mourning the loss of his life before, and struggling to cope with not only his new reality, but also an ongoing battle with OCD and anxiety. Autofiction finds the Irish musician discovering the tools he needs to keep moving forward. “I’m now at the point where I don't really let it define me,” he says. “The lyric ‘your mind changed from a fear to a song’ [on ‘Lough’] is my expression of freedom: to no longer be held down by something you’ve got used to. I’m trying to not even make sense of it all, but just live in it, and be grateful for the things I do have.”

The lyrics across Autofiction—which dive deep into mental health burdens, self-forgiveness, recovery, and gratitude for supportive, uplifting partnership—are Johnston’s most direct, diaristic and literal to date. As such, it’s also his most vulnerable release yet. “I just wanted to get the message across,” he says. “People will sometimes comment on songs of mine saying ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about.’ I wanted to make a record that was a bit more heard. I even made my vocals louder than I usually do.” Freeing himself from any internal judgments or inhibitions, Johnston wrote songs for Autofiction with a simple motto: “I’m enjoying this right now and therefore it’s good enough.” The process helped him reconnect with the joy of music, the reason he started making it in the first place. It felt like the first time he made an album for himself, rather than an audience. “The fact that I was less self-critical and worried about others' opinions–I think that’s why the lyrics became more straightforward. I didn’t feel the need to dress them up or hide behind something.”

Nashville songwriter Emily Hines releases "All Of Our Friends" this week, the third single from her debut album These Days, out August 1 via Keeled Scales.

Emily writes: "I wrote this song in a guy's bedroom while he was working in the other room. Fresh out of college, I was naive and earnest, putting everything under a microscope. I’d fallen in love a little too quickly and felt the familiar nausea of an intimacy hangover. The lyrics are mostly questions I knew better than to ask out loud."

About the recording, Hines continues: "One of my favorite parts of the recording was when we asked two of my dearest collaborators and confidants, Madelyn Baier and Liv Greene to come over and add some harmonies. We sat in a crescent and sang into an omni mic. At some point, my dog, Birdy, waltzed in and made her debut in the first verse. Because we’re sentimental and silly, we kept it."

The single comes with a music video directed by Nashville filmmaker Abby Holmes. "When I asked Abby to make a music video with me, she showed up to coffee the next morning with several pages of hand sketched storyboard to show me. I love working with her so much. Her tenacity is incredible. We shot this video in two days with the help and generosity of many friends. It felt a lot like camp. I was so happy to be with everyone, all my anxiety about being on camera melted away."

Georgian - Learning to Forget.

Manchester based Georgian continues to explore her poised melancholic sound with new single and first new music of the year ‘Learning to Forget’ out now via Heist or Hit.
 
Formed and fronted by Georgia McKiernan and completed by her band (Harry George, James Poole, James Polglase and Connor Alder), Georgian’s genre fluid output is expansive; a soft bloom of sullen 60s psychedelia and folk horror peppered with Southern Gothic inclinations and a sophisticated jazz leaning. With lyrics that are mournful yet comforting, painted alongside a vivid cinematic landscape, her sound is one that is modern yet nostalgic.
 
Georgian introduced herself with the singles ‘Big Lips in Leather’ and ‘Soleil’ last year and new track ‘Learning to Forget’ continues to showcase the accomplished musical array of Georgia and her band. Produced and recorded in Amsterdam by Arno Stols (Magenta Studios), it is a track that is both intimately warm yet darkly melancholic, blending progressive rock with dark folk and building in intensity and emotion throughout. The video, filmed in Georgian’s hometown of Manchester and directed by harry right here, sees Georgia struggle through the emotions of re-emerging from a broken relationship.
 
Georgia says, “’Learning to Forget’ has a true Georgian structure, from starting quite slow, melancholy and reflective, to progressing to a heavy, distorted and powerful sound – expect the unexpected! The song itself discusses heartbreak and how you can be so eager to forget everything when a relationship ends. Even though you don’t want the memories and small reminders of that person, they still happen.”

Gelli Haha - Spit.

In Gelli Haha’s latest single “Spit” - only S-words are allowed. The track has underground-club grit, with a strong, consistent bass line and strange electronic effects. On “Spit”, participation is encouraged and surrender is required. The accompanying music video, directed by David Gutel, features Gelli strapped to a spiraling operation board as Gelli Kompany scientists conduct a surreal experiment on her.

A shapeshifter, a sonic acrobat, a performer with one foot in the cosmos and the other in arthouse theatrics, Gelli Haha (pronounced Jelly-Haha) is a space for pure creative chaos that exists somewhere between Studio 54 and Area 51. Gelli’s music thrives on duality: playful but profound, tongue-in-cheek but sincere. Her debut album Switcheroo, out next month via Innovative Leisure, is the soundtrack to the Gelliverse, a sensory adventure sphere created by Gelli.

With a shared taste for off-kilter pop and vintage gear, producer Sean Guerin (of De Lux) joined Gelli in turning freshly-formed demos into a high-voltage experiment, abandoning meticulous structure for something freer and more electrifying. Every song on Switcheroo makes use of a myriad of recording toys; wacky analog effects, such as the Eventide Harmonizer, MXR Pitch Transposer, and various Electrix units, fashion an intentionally flawed and strictly silly texture throughout the album. Switcheroo is an exercise in letting go, an inside joke turned theatrical spectacle.
