Øyunn - Hector Gannet - Night Swimming - debdepan

Following a summer of festival appearances including Roskilde — drummer, rapper, vocalist and genre-defier, Øyunn is pleased to present her electrifying debut studio album ‘I Know U Can Do It’, a powerful blend of breakbeats, rap, raw honesty and soaring vocals, which is being released via Copenhagen-based label Midnight Confessions.

With her dynamic range and unmistakable sound — groove-driven energy and lyrical openness — Øyunn delivers an extroverted yet emotionally nuanced record that pulses with self-reflection and fearless vulnerability. Throughout the album, Øyunn proves herself a fearless songwriter with a sharp ear for catchy melodies with an edge — each track standing strong on its own while forming a compelling whole.

Co-produced by Øyunn and Brian Batz and recorded over four years between Copenhagen, Malmö, and Aarhus, the album is a deeply personal creative vision, with Øyunn leading on drums and vocals. She is joined by longtime collaborators Jens Mikkel Madsen on bass and Kasper Staub on synths, and the result is a warm, organic sound shaped by a tight, intuitive band.

Behind the name Øyunn is Siv Øyunn Kjenstad, a diverse artist born in Norway but now based in Copenhagen. She released a live album ‘Aspects’ in 2023 which was originally a film, performance and concert created for Ultima Festival. The album led to Øyunn winning ‘New Jazz Name of the Year’ at the Danish Music Awards 2024. She is also known for being the touring drummer for Danish indie legends Efterklang, as well as drumming for Bugge Wesseltoft, Nils Frahm & Guldimund.

Hector Gannet - The Jetty's End.

Northeastern masters of ancient-and-modern folk and rock Hector Gannet make a compelling return with their new double A-side single, out now on 12-inch etched vinyl and digital. Hector Gannet are currently working on their third album. They’re set to accompany it with a range of dates in 2026 – from the local (an already-sold-out 600-capacity night in North Shields), to the national and the international, including dates in Belfast in January and the SXSW festival in Texas in March. Hector Gannet live shows vary between full band performances and Aaron appearing as Hector Gannet as a solo act.

Admired by music maniacs from Chris Packham to Sam Fender and acclaimed as “North Shields’ answer to Crazy Horse” (Uncut), the literate, dreadnought-passionate words and music of Tyneside group Hector Gannet have built through two previous albums. There have been live dates with artists from Elbow and Sea Power to Lindisfarne and Richard Thompson – plus massive shows with Sam Fender at the vast Northeastern shrine that is Newcastle United’s St James’ Park ground. All this now culminates in the exhilarating and ambitious dimensions of new double A-side single “The Jetty’s End” / “Until My Bonnie Can Be Revived”. These moving clarion calls will be followed by the third Hector Gannet album, in 2026.

The jetty of “The Jetty’s End” is a very specific structure in North Tyneside, dilapidated but rich in atmosphere – an age-old “hailing station” where an official would stand and hail passing ships, recording their cargo and destination. This track sees Hector Gannet add church bells, brass and a youth choir to a song that explores Northeastern place and memory. All this is transformed into a gorgeous metaphorical wash, a song that brims with a universal sense of wonder. A crescendo is fired on by lyrics that take in human history, human connection and our devotional rituals – prayer books, work, war, the sea. And not forgetting the cormorants perched on the jetty – prehistoric creatures, their wings drying in heraldic repose, like birds at the end of the world.

Night Swimming - Submarine.

Bath (England) dream-pop band Night Swimming today announce their signing to Venn Records and share new single ‘Submarine’ - produced by longtime collaborator Peter Miles (TORRES, Orla Gartland) and mastered by Simon Scott of Slowdive. The new single is accompanied by a video directed by Matthew Deeley, and arrives ahead of a UK headline tour this month, before the band join Miki Berenyi (of pioneering UK shoegazers Lush) on select dates this winter.

Their 2024 debut EP 'No Place To Land' cemented them as a compelling addition to the country's new wave of dream-pop / shoegaze acts - drawing admirers from some of the genre’s original icons. Dream-pop at its most haunted and tactile, 'Submarine' unfolds with a quiet intensity - a slow build of layered guitars, hypnotic rhythms and restrained urgency. Meg Jones’ vocal moves like a signal through static - “Undone by nights that gleam and glean / strange how it’s always here waiting,” she sings, capturing the song’s suspended state between memory and reality.

Speaking on the release of new single 'Submarine', lyricist Meg Jones said: "‘Submarine’ is about loss - the song likens it to feeling as though you’re submerged at the bottom of the ocean, unable to focus fully on what is happening around you. It grapples with the shock of feeling as though your world has fallen out from under you, and finding metaphorical shards from the wreckage which trigger surges of grief (when life seemed to have more meaning). It reflects on how you feel as though you are constantly living somewhere between reality and this underwater realm, and the waves of emotion are always waiting for you when you least expect them. It also comments on how people who have experienced loss will often notice it in others."

debdepan - Ghost.

With their sophomore EP Lovers & Others arriving November 28th, Margate duo debdepan are building unstoppable momentum. Having already delivered the cyclical intensity of "Habit" and the raw aggression of "The Girl", the pair now reveal their most emotionally complex offering yet — "Ghost", out today November 5th via Silent Kid Records.

At first listen, "Ghost" feels like uncharted territory — a slower, more melodic moment reminiscent of Florence and the Machine's atmospheric grandeur. But just as you settle into its deceptive softness, the track pivots sharply into something unmistakably debdepan: edgy, hard-hitting, and deliciously sleazy. This sonic bait-and-switch perfects the push-pull dynamic the duo are rapidly becoming known for, proving they're just as dangerous when they whisper as when they scream.

"Oh, where did you go? We weren't exclusive but 6 months and then you Ghost!?" the duo lament. This emotional journey is central to the track's architecture — beginning with slight hopefulness before slowly turning dark as insecurity creeps in, culminating in a chorus that feels like a total release of pent-up emotion. "This song had to feel like a journey," the band explains. "It needed a big fat pop chorus to juxtapose the dark and miserable verses."

Recorded with engineer Mike Collins in Ramsgate, "Ghost" benefits from his inspired production choices. "Mike had a wicked idea to layer a bunch of guitars in the middle 8 to really build some tension," the duo shares. The result is a track that balances delicate vulnerability with explosive catharsis, showcasing debdepan's evolving mastery of sonic contrasts.

The accompanying music video offers a playful, Halloween-inspired counterpoint to the track's stark emotional reality. Shot, produced, and edited entirely by the duo across various Margate locations, it features them dressed as ghosts in delightfully DIY fashion—complete with a visible drone controller peeking out beneath one costume. This quirky, self-made approach perfectly captures their friendship-turned-band chemistry: creative, unpretentious, and utterly committed to having fun while making music.

Bathed in the ethereal glow of dream-pop, Night Swimming's new single 'In The Real World' captures the ache of youthful detachment. The band's new single is released today alongside news of their debut UK headline tour this autumn, alongside dates supporting Miki Berenyi this May.

'In The Real World' follows the success of the Bath/Bristol outfit's 2024 debut EP, 'No Place To Land,' which drew support from well-respected tastemakers including NME, The Line of Best Fit, Dork Magazine, CLASH Magazine, Under The Radar Magazine, Rough Trade, Notion, along with keen airplay from BBC 6 Music and Radio X.

Night Swimming now return with a track that further showcases their ability to craft immersive sonic landscapes. Produced by trusted collaborator Peter Miles (TORRES, Orla Gartland) and mastered by Simon Scott of Slowdive, 'In The Real World' delves into the perspective of a young person trapped, both emotionally and geographically - capturing the sensation of the world existing just beyond reach.

Deeply rooted in the rural landscapes of Shropshire, where vocalist and lyricist Meg Jones spent her teenage years, she commented on the song's inspiration: "In The Real World is written from the perspective of a young person who feels physically and emotionally isolated. It expresses a longing to be part of something bigger, but not feeling sure what that might look like."

Palindrones - Chapter Two The Slender Blade (Album).

UK darkwave duo, Palindrones have announced the release of their latest full-length album, Chapter Two: The Slender Blade. The album is preceded by the single "Animus" which was released in February.

Chapter Two: The Slender Blade is the next part of the story which began in 2023 with the album, Chapter One: With Fearful Velocity, a mythical science fiction tale centered around humankind’s first contact with extraterrestrial life.

The Slender Blade’s story picks up in humankind’s dark forest of the soul, evolving into archetypal themes of hope, redemption, transcendence, universal consciousness and human connection. It’s a story of existence, exploration and discovery. It’s the haunted echoes of a lost civilization on a doomed planet, a fear of the unknown and the irrepressible euphoria of the human bond,

Night Swimming - The Orchids - Lilly Winwood - Girlpuppy

Bath-based dream pop five-piece Night Swimming are pleased to announce the release of their debut double single ‘Freight Train // A Wall’ today August 12th.

Formed in 2021, the band have spent the last year honing in on their sound at sold-out headline shows in their home city of Bath and supporting the likes of China Bears and Parlophone Records’ own Sad Night Dynamite. They were also scouted by the Close Encounters Club to be featured in Glastonbury Festival’s 2022 ‘Longlist’ - chosen to be one of their 90 top acts.

Night Swimming’s sound incorporates the ethereal, melodic elements of the early Wolf Alice EPs and Slowdive albums; combining them with the minimalism of local idols Portishead and Massive Attack.

Produced by Calum Wotherspoon at Joe’s Garage in Bristol, and mastered by Novatines’ Tom Cory, their debut release Freight Train // A Wall is instantly striking. Combining atmospheric guitars, ethereal vocals and airy synths with echoing percussion and hypnotic choruses; each individual element is equally as evocative, while perfectly blended with a sugary sweet delivery that you can’t help but get lost in.

Freight Train was written as an introductory piece to the second track ‘A Wall’. The use of trip-hop influenced rhythms and sustained atmospherics evoke a trance-like feel, conveying a strong sense.

The Orchids - Didn't We Love You.

Sometimes it can take several years to realise what you’ve been missing.  Sometimes it can even take decades....  (If you already know all about The Orchids, well, you’re going to like Dreaming Kind a lot.)

The Orchids were making sophisticated pop music right back in the early 1990s when Sarah Records first started.  Their songs were as emotionally pure as anything else on that label, but they were always a step ahead of their peers in terms of song arrangements and musical ambition.  With a casual, unpretentious air they made writing perfect pop songs seem easy, almost accidental, and several great releases followed.  The Orchids gained a passionate following: people knew a good thing when they heard it and they hugged it close.  But now it’s time for the rest of the world to be let in on the secret.

The songs themselves are a beautiful mix of strength and gentleness.   They wrap you in a powerful embrace, making you feel comfortable and secure – and then whisper their insecurities and anxieties into your ear.  They say: ‘it’s OK to admit weakness.   It’s OK to be fragile.  That’s where true strength comes from’.  From Glasgow, and proudly Scottish, the band shares a musical lineage with other great groups from that city, from Aztec Camera to Orange Juice, Lloyd Cole to Teenage Fanclub. All bands that specialise in song-writing that that can tell big stories through small fragments, that can make the ordinary extraordinary.

Producer Ian Carmichael has helped the band create a perfectly-crafted masterpiece. He subtly accentuates the drama of the songs, with a sophisticated choreography and gloss that never overwhelms the tenderness of the music.  In ‘This Boy Is A Mess’ (the first single from the album), the lyric confesses frailty while the music gets stronger and stronger.  It is bittersweet and exhilarating at the same time. ‘I Want You, I Need You’ has harmonies as big as a house – but the yearning message remains intimate and close.  ‘I Don’t Mean To Stare’ is a sophisticated new version of the track that first appeared on the Under The Bridge compilation earlier this year.

Album opener ‘Didn’t We Love You’ daringly opens up empty spaces where the reverb of the drums is the only thing you can hear... and then floods your ears with a harmonised chorus, sweet guitar melodies and sweeping effects.  Even then, the lyrical lament, expressing the desire to live in a better place - a place unspoilt by the greedy phonies who’ve taken over – comes across as clearly as if Hackett were leaning over for a friendly chat in the snug bar of The Orchids’ favourite Glasgow pub.

Lilly Winwood - Keep It Spinning.

“They say musicians can’t always be music lovers but that, by far, is not the case for me,” says songwriter Lilly Winwood. “I think a lot of music has saved me in so many ways and this song recognizes that.” The song she’s speaking of is Winwood’s brand new single, “Keep It Spinning,” a breezy rocker that sits comfortably between a Tom Petty classic and a late 90s country radio hit. “Do you ever have one song that just really does it for you and puts a smile on your face?” Winwood quips. “And you play it over and over and over again?” She channeled that feeling, but with a spin, tying it in with relationships, her career, and even her newly found sobriety—the impetus for a number of songs from her upcoming album Talking Walls.

“I’ve been chasing that song that came right at the moment when I thought all I had was lost.”

Burned out after her last album cycle and in the midst of a pandemic, Winwood took a job to pay the bills—but she couldn’t stop writing. She knew she was on the cusp of something important. “I’d be working in a restaurant all day and then at night, come 3 a.m., I’d be pulling half-written songs out of my apron,” she recalls. “Then it all came together.”

Talking Walls captures that tumultuous period during the pandemic, with Winwood literally “talking to the walls” as she looked inward with new purpose. Penned over long sleepless nights, with clear eyes and a willingness to ask tough questions, each song takes a different tack into the introspective wind, backed by a minimalist-roots sound. The now East Nashville-based artist (and daughter of Grammy-winning British rocker Steve Winwood) simply wrote her story and brought it to her band at Nashville’s Trace Horse studio—no producer needed.

Girlpuppy - I Want To Be There.

Last month, girlpuppy (aka Becca Harvey) announced her debut LP When I'm Alone, which was produced with Slow Pulp member Henry Stoehr and Alex G guitarist Sam Acchione and will be out October 28th on Royal Mountain Records (Wild Pink, Pillow Queens). 

The album arrives on the heels of her Swan EP, her 2021 debut on the label that she made with producer Marshall Vore who is known for his work with folk dynamo Phoebe Bridgers. The five song collection drew remarkable acclaim immediately, earning praise from outlets like NPR, FADER, Paste, Under The Radar, Coup De Main, Office Magazine, i-D, Line of Best Fit and NYLON who called her "one of indie folk's most promising newcomers."

This week, girlpuppy is sharing a second single from her forthcoming LP, a contemplative track built around a tumbling acoustic guitar shuffle entitled "I Want To Be There".

“I wrote 'I Want To Be There' about the pain I felt when my old landlord kicked me and three of my best friends out of our dream home, and all three of my roommates moved to New York," Harvey explains. "I was left all alone in Atlanta and it was a really bad time for me. I was jobless and I felt like I had no friends which made me wonder what was wrong with me, which kind of made me spiral into self-hatred. I like to call this one the “self hate anthem” of the album."
