CR & The White Lights - Tinted Windows.

"Tinted Windows," is the searing lead track from CR & The White Lights' forthcoming LP, My Old Self. Shot through with the ragged edge and texture of indie rock, this record is proof that honest-to-goodness alt-country is still alive and well — but you don’t need me to tell you that. Just let the epic guitar solo in “Tinted Windows” do the talking. CR Gennone tells us, "The record captures a period of time in my life when I felt un-tethered and reflective, focusing on the memories and things in the past that centered me or brought me some sense of calm in the midst of a difficult time."

Brimming with blistering guitars, shimmering pedal steel, and hard-earned heartbreak, the My Old Self channels the spirit of Neil Young & Crazy Horse and Wilco while carving out a sound entirely its own. The record arrives July 17 via Magic Door Records. 'Til then, we hope you'll soak up "Tinted Windows," and help spread the word.

Raw, loose, and gritty, New Jersey outfit CR & The White Lights’ My Old Self is a record brimming barroom philosophy and introspection set to a stack of rollicking alt-country rock. One can trace the clear lineage from Neil Young and Crazy Horse through Songs: Ohia’s Magnolia Electric Company to this record. It trades in similar traditions. But these songs are too personal and intuitive to be anything but the work of these particular players. Produced by friend of the band Phil Connor and featuring Liam Bornovski’s pedal steel guitar just about from corner to corner, My Old Self is music born for the jukebox.

Marty Kolls - Waves.

Building upon years of writing, teaching, and performing music rooted in connection and observation, London, Ontario–based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Marty Kolls releases her latest single. “Waves” is a calm and meditative folk-pop single that draws from the natural rhythms of water to explore struggle, surrender, and emotional grounding. Gentle yet resonant, the track reflects on the ebb and flow of life, offering a quiet space for reflection and release.

Inspired by time spent along Lake Huron, “Waves” emerged from Marty’s deep, lifelong connection to water. “Whether observing water from the vastness of the ocean or a ripple in a pond, it has been the root of inspiration for me for much of my life,” she explains. “Its stillness can anchor me while its waves can cleanse me.” That duality sits at the heart of the song, where moments of calm and motion coexist, mirroring the emotional cycles we move through.

The song’s origin was as intuitive as its subject matter. “It came to me at the tail end of my sleep,” Marty shares. “As I was waking up, the chord progression was in my head and I immediately went to the keyboard to record it.” From there, the track unfolded naturally, guided by feeling rather than force.

What sets “Waves” apart is its sense of flow. Layered backing harmonies move like currents beneath the surface, subtly propelling the song forward while maintaining its grounded, reflective tone. During recording, an unexpected vocal “hiccup” shifted the rhythmic phrasing of the harmonies; a moment that producer Simon Larochette encouraged Marty to embrace. “That became our favourite part,” she notes, highlighting the song’s openness to imperfection and instinct.

ADMIN - Marathon Times.

Brooklyn-based post-punk act, ADMIN returns with their latest single, ‘Marathon Times,’ from its upcoming Mirrored Construct EP for Abandon Everything Records. The EP sees release June 24. On this song, the band unleashes a menacing, down tempo groove that gradually builds before detonating into a powerful, cathartic finale. Expanding their sonic palette, the band leans into tension, restraint, and release -delivering a track that simmers for minutes before finally catching fire.

“We wanted to explore what happens when you strip everything back, we were interested in that contrast,” says frontperson, Ian Jacobs. “Lyrically, the song traces themes of suppressed emotion and the inevitability of confronting those things. “It’s really a theme about overcoming obstacles or trauma.”

Jacobs continues, “But not in a victimized or supernatural way. Knowing when to face things head on, but also when to let go and walk away, without running. You can’t change the past but it’s also not good to ignore it. In my life, I’ve definitely gotten stuck in that negative space trying to swat things aside and they always come to roost eventually, I just want to make sure I’m never living life on a treadmill. Sometimes all you can do is absorb, try to create something positive out of it and in the end just give it a healthy shrug.”

Kaktus Einarsson - Glycerine.

Kaktus Einarsson has announced his new album Factoid Happiness feat. John Grant, RAKEL, Thibault Gomez, and Jessica Winter is due in September with the new single ‘Glycerine’ out now. In a world saturated with misinformation and manufactured ideals of fulfilment, ‘Factoid Happiness’ asks a deceptively simple question; what is it that makes us happy? The third album from Icelandic stalwart Kaktus Einarsson is out on September 18th via One Little Independent Records, and seeks its answers in community, equality, and the quiet resilience of family.

Across ten tracks, Kaktus interrogates the systems that increasingly shape our emotional lives; algorithms, social media, and political polarisation. It explores how modern life dilutes attention, erodes certainty, and turns even our happiness into a commodification. “The title Factoid Happiness actually came first,” he tells us. “The word ‘happiness’ had been sitting in my notebook for a long time, before most of the lyrics were written. A lot of the album grew out of that idea, questioning what happiness even is, and where we’re being told to find it. We’re constantly being sold things as ‘truths’; feelings, knowledge, lifestyles. Algorithms decide what we see, what we believe, even what we think will make us happy. But a lot of that is unproven. It’s a factoid. Something that feels true but isn’t necessarily real.

And it’s not always negative,” he continues. “Love is also a factoid. I can’t prove my partner loves me. I choose to trust it. But the same mechanism can also derail us, especially now that we consume fragments of mass media constantly, out of context, and mistake them for truth.”

Musically, ‘Factoid Happiness’ is rich and varied, moving between intimate piano-led songwriting, warm indie-rock, funk-leaning grooves, disco-inflected rhythms, and electronic textures. It reflects Kaktus’s background as a songwriter who has moved fluidly between underground experimentation and sophisticated pop. The LP also features contributions from John Grant, RAKEL, Thibault Gomez, and Jessica Winter.

Resa Saffa Park - I Can See The World.

Oslo-based singer/songwriter and composer Resa Saffa Park today returns with new single 'I Can See The World' - a smoky, slow-burning piece of alt-pop written about the disorientation and serenity of falling deeply in love - engineered around brushed percussion, spectral piano and delicate guitar arrangements.

Born in Dubai, with her musical upbringing rooted in Liverpool (Resa is a graduate of LIPA), and now based in Oslo - Resa Saffa Park's work pulls from jazz, soul, indie and noir-pop in equal measure - drawing influence from artists as varied as Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Mitski, Julia Jacklin and Nirvana, while sitting somewhere in the orbit of Tamino, Michelle Gurevich and Portishead.

With traces of jazz phrasing and cinematic trip-hop in its DNA, the song's emotional core remains startlingly direct, as she explains: "I Can See The World is my first ever exclusively 'happy' song. I wrote it about the bliss of meeting my partner. I wrote it about love, the type of love that feels safe, but nothing close to boring. The type of love that can make mundane moments in company with them, into the best days of your life. It felt like I really experienced the world for the first time, walking in the park, noticing nature, and experiencing time in a way I had never done before. I still do, with him."

The single was recorded in Oslo alongside producer Bård Berg, becoming both the first song the pair worked on together for a new body of work and the last one they completed. "Some songs come quickly," she explains, "but others need time to ferment until you crack the code of their potential and direction. This one took a while. The bridge section was the final thing to arrive, and it made the song complete."

The Deslondes - I’m Gone.

The Deslondes will release Don’t Let It Die Vol. 1 tomorrow via New West Records. The 12-track set was recorded on analog tape and features renditions of songs by Swamp Dogg, Shelby Lynne, Johnny Cash, Clifton Chenier, and more. It was produced by the band’s John James Tourville and Ajaï Combelic (Sabine McCalla) at the band’s studio in New Orleans and follows their 2024 studio album Roll It Out which was met with wide critical acclaim.

The Deslondes didn’t want to simply exalt their heroes and catalog their influences while recording the new covers album. They wanted to also give their friends a boost as well. The poignant and powerful collection includes new interpretations of old songs by artists who’ve guided the band for years, alongside new songs by peers, tourmates, and collaborators including Nick Woods, Pat Reedy, and more. “We have so many friends who are songwriters, and we just love their music so much,” says Tourville. “Riley (Downing) and Dan (Cutler) are always kicking around awesome, inspiring old songs for us to do, but for this album we really wanted to play some friends songs, too.” Downing says “These songs are very much a close part of our lives. They’re all part of our circle, this big organism that keeps influencing itself.”

Released today ahead of the album we have a real highlight with “I’m Gone.” The song was written by their friend Kiki Cavazos, who also appears in the Joshua Shoemaker-directed video. Riley Downing says “The moment I heard Kate Cavazos' voice, I was instantly captivated and mesmerized. Who was this mysterious woman with the most beautiful omniscient comforting voice? When I first heard the chorus it gave me goosebumps, but in a reassuring way. I hope you take this cover as an introduction to your own journey of discovering her music. Keep your eyes and ears open and you might be able to find her on the road somewhere.

The Deslondes - Try Again.

The Deslondes return with Don’t Let It Die Vol. 1 May 22, 2026 via New West Records.

They’re all part of our circle, this big organism that keeps influencing itself.”

Regarding “Try Again” the band’s Dan Cutler said, “I heard the Kernal and his band play this song for the first time many years ago. It was just this lost, epic soul song, stuck into their set of mostly country numbers. It stuck with me. It’s got a very simple message of persistence, and maybe even redemption. It sounded like a plaintive plea for another chance. You wanna hope he got one."

Scorie - Gallodrome (EP).

Scorie is a beef bourguignon where the red wine has been replaced by two bottles of cognac. It’s a sunset drive with one wheel missing. It’s a tank top in the dead of winter and a  100% polyester turtleneck in the middle of a heatwave. After more than a year of meticulous distillation, the band release their first 5-tracks EP “Gallodrome” today via Géographie.

The first single from the EP, "The Leash and The Fury," was released back on June 5,2025. Halfway between a perverse prayer and a political spit-take, the track evokes voluntary servitude and the murky pleasure of being walked all over. With a catchy chorus, hypnotic keys, and a relentless groove, it already showcases a strong, unapologetic identity.

In September 2025, the band doubled down with the equally sarcastic “Legitimate Violence,” depicting a new, cold-blooded, and violent character, continuing their streak of blending  satire and cynicism. The track is driven by raw instrumentation, oscillating between a frantic urge to dance and an irrepressible need to scream into a microphone. The third single, “Room Full Of Gangsters,” arrives this coming February—a 5:33-minute crescendo set in a stifling Western atmosphere, recounting the confessions of a man staring  his existence and his death straight in the eyes.

These first three tracks layed the foundation of their aesthetic: a brand of rock that borrows its energy from the current post-punk scene and its love for cinematic atmospheres from the Nick Cave wave. This is an EP with a fierce identity, fueled by a desire to push ideas to their limit and a certain radicalism in both lyrics and sound.

Tyler Ellis - Union Song.

Award-winning Toronto singer-songwriter and extraordinary storyteller Tyler Ellis has crafted a new single, “Union Song,” that serves as a tonic for our troubled times. It’s the first single from his ninth album to date, Hardwarestore, coming out in June. “Union Song” is out today April 24th and available on all major platforms.

A heartfelt anthem of unity in the face of division, with a small but powerful choir of voices emphasizing the point, "Union Song" channels the spirit of the late, great Woody Guthrie, as we face current times of hellish late-stage capitalism. As Ellis sings, "I got my brothers and my brothers got me, I got my sisters and my sisters got me," he champions the idea that "there are no others, there's just us," people of "every shade and every hue." He's not only amplifying the idea of strength in numbers but pointing to a path forward for peace on a global scale.

"It's not just about unions and protests," says Ellis. "It's about people in general coming together, and working side by side for the common good. In the end, we're all brothers and sisters. who can stand together and help each other."

GrooveGalore MuziK - I Could Have Lied (ft. KASTICK & Valentino Music).

A reggae reinterpretation of the rock classic song by Red Hot Chili Peppers, “I Could Have Lied” is powered by the deeply felt vocal delivery from KASTICK and a warm, steady groove anchored by Rudy Valentino Jr.’s soulful edgy guitar, bringing a distinct emotional edge to the track.

Inspired by reflection and reinvention, this track blends reggae rhythm with alternative rock roots, creating something both familiar and newly felt. “I Could Have Lied (ft. KASTICK and Valentino Music)” carries a deep emotional gravity, speaking directly to anyone who understands the weight of regret and the silence that follows words left unsaid.

KASTICK’s vocals cut deep and raw, emotionally present, and fully embodied. Bringing real weight and honesty to the performance. The continued collaboration with Valentino Music strengthens the project’s reggae identity, while Rudy Valentino Jr.’s guitar stands out with an edge... gritty in all the right places, fluid where it counts, and consistently driving the emotional tone of the track.

Conscious Pilot - Face Down.

While earlier singles like ‘Internet Support’ and ‘Human Poultry’ hit with a heavier, more direct edge, ‘Face Down’ reveals another side of the band—brighter and more energetic, driven by urgent guitars, propulsive momentum, and an unexpected warmth. It’s a left turn that hints at the wider scope of what’s to come on their debut album Human Poultry.

Lyrically, ‘Face Down’ explores mortality through humour rather than despair. Written from observations during frontman Joe Laycock’s time living in Mount Florida, Glasgow, the song turns fear of death into something strangely uplifting, using wit as a shield for deeper anxieties. That tension reaches its peak in the chorus, where the narrator imagines slipping away “in the silence”, “facedown”, “in this grey, old mount” — bleak imagery delivered in a way that feels oddly comforting.

Joe Laycock says: “Inspired by my time living in Mount Florida, it’s a glass-half-full take on dying. It came from a real fear of mortality, but uses gallows humour to cover that dread and insecurity. It’s about trying to laugh through something heavy — which feels true to both Glasgow and Yorkshire. Sometimes people make light of a bad situation to comfort everyone else while hiding how they really feel.”

‘Face Down’ is the final offering from the preview releases leading up to their upcoming debut, Human Poultry—a record shaped entirely by place and circumstance. Written and rehearsed at the ‘Workshop' — drummer Chris McCrory's studio in the heart of Glasgow — Human Poultry documents the band's first two years in the city: the strange, funny, occasionally grim texture of daily life refracted through a set of songs that span employment, crime, religion, sport, technology and art. The connective tissue running through all of it is a particular kind of modern helplessness — the sensation of being quietly reshaped by your environment whether you like it or not. Every song finds a new angle on the same basic feeling — the sad made funny, the mundane made strange, the personal quietly universal.

Maren Davidsen - Tennessee On My Mind.

Maren Davidsen is a singer-songwriter from Stavanger, Norway, whose music blends Nordic americana with country influences, rooted in honest storytelling and an organic, song-led sound. After spending eight years in London, she moved to Oslo in 2023 in search of the space and clarity to write new music. Having picked up the guitar at six years old and grown up listening to artists such as Mark Knopfler, Bruce Springsteen and Willie Nelson, songwriting has long been part of her life, but it was during her early adult years in London, especially immersed in Mayfair’s party district, she began pursuing music more seriously. These experiences, both the vibrant highs and personal upheavals, led her back to Norway, where she found the clarity to write her debut album.

Her new single, “Tennessee On My Mind”, is the first release from her upcoming debut album This Is Where I Leave You, produced by Martin Vinje and released via AWAL. The track captures a turning point in Maren’s life, shaped by distance, emotional exhaustion and the first real sense of leaving a painful chapter behind. Written during a solo songwriting trip to Nashville, the song emerged at a moment when she felt both inspired and completely unsteady, caught between the excitement of somewhere new and the weight of everything she had brought with her.

“I remember arriving in Nashville feeling completely drained, physically and mentally, and suddenly very far from home,” Maren says. “I felt lonely and lost, but also excited and inspired. Looking back, that trip became the beginning of letting go, not just of a relationship, but of that entire phase of my life.”

Shorehaven - Marty Kolls - The Deslondes - Piner

Shorehaven - Oh Baby!

Can work and pleasure coexist? ‘Oh, Baby!’ traces the tension between two artists whose relationship is strained in a creative partnership, seeing cracks emerge when love and professionalism collide. Shorehaven shares the explosive single, complete with a vibrant music video, on Thursday, February 19.

Shorehaven are a Boorloo/Perth-based female-fronted indie pop-punk band, fusing the warmth of Australian indie rock with the punch and nostalgia of early 2000s pop punk. With a sound that captures youthful nostalgia while remaining modern and exciting, they’ve shared stages with Teenage Joans (Creamfest), Sly Withers (Leavers), Rum Jungle, Pacific Avenue (Pollen Fest), Dear Sunday, Drax Project, and more, earning a reputation for high-energy, fun live shows.

A song born out of a frustrating rehearsal, ‘Oh, Baby!’ marks a subtle shift in Shorehaven’s sonic direction. Produced by Matthew Templeman, it moves away from their earlier indie-rock leanings and embraces a more direct pop-punk palette, built on thick and juicy guitar tones, a tight rhythm section, and wry, tongue-in-cheek lyricism. The result is an upbeat, anthemic offering that feels immediate and assured, without losing the band’s melodic core. Hannah Gill (vocalist) explains:

“We really focused on not taking ourselves too seriously with this song, really leaning into the cliches [of pop rock and emo] and allowing the vision to develop with Matt’s guidance”. The release is accompanied by a colourful music video filmed over three consecutive days, featuring a lively cast of extras. Scenes move between a backyard wedding and a punk-rock performance, with a visual nod to Queen’s ‘I Want to Break Free’. The band describes the shoot as one of the most memorable experiences to date.

Marty Kolls - Drive.

Following years of writing, teaching, and performing music rooted in connection and self-reflection, London, Ontario–based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Marty Kolls shares "Drive," a hypnotic, consistent pop single that captures the quiet momentum of moving forward through uncertainty. Optimistic yet grounded, the track reflects on awareness, contemplation, and the importance of continuing on even when the road ahead isn’t fully visible.

Inspired by both time spent behind the wheel and her work as a songwriting instructor, "Drive" grew out of a lesson Marty taught her students. Beginning with a steady, driving rhythm, the song came together as she paired it with lyrics written during another class exercise. "I started with the driving rhythm, and it fit well with lyrics I had already written," she explains. "I put myself to the test of writing all of the assignments along with my students. It was a great source of inspiration to be presenting for them at the same time as they presented to me."

What sets "Drive" apart is its rhythmic foundation, where the piano line mirrors the physical sensation of a car in motion. The consistency of the arrangement reinforces the song's message, allowing space for reflection without ever losing forward momentum. "The rhythm of the piano feels like the movement of the car as it’s driving," Marty shares.

As the song unfolds, its final section becomes an invitation rather than a conclusion. Designed as a call-back moment, the outro encourages listeners to sing along, blurring the line between performer and audience. "I want the audience to sing along to the chorus so I can sing the extra lines over top," she says. "I want them to feel like they are a part of the song."

The Deslondes - Lawdy Mama.

The Deslondes return with Don’t Let It Die Vol. 1 May 22, 2026 via New West Records.

The poignant and powerful collection includes new interpretations of old songs by artists who’ve guided the band for years, alongside new songs by peers, tourmates, and collaborators including Nick Woods, Pat Reedy, and the Kernel. “We have so many friends who are songwriters, and we just love their music so much,” says Tourville. “Riley (Downing) and Dan (Cutler) are always kicking around awesome, inspiring old songs for us to do, but for this album we really wanted to play some friend's songs, too.” Downing says “These songs are very much a close part of our lives. They’re all part of our circle, this big organism that keeps influencing itself.”

“‘Lawdy Mama’ is a song by Edgar Blanchard who played lead guitar in bands all over New Orleans while leading his own band Gondoliers immediately after serving in World War II. He recorded it with a few of the members in 57/58 and it would be his only single recorded on the Chess record label and remain unreleased for over 20 years. I found it on a New Orleans R&B compilation of Chess singles I had picked up somewhere and it was waiting patiently to explode as the very last track with the most ripping one-note guitar solos I have ever heard. Back when the band used to tour without GPS or cell phones, I put it on a mix CD and it stayed in one of our many, many binders of CDs for years and that is how it became a Deslondes family favorite.”

Piner - Odelia.

Canadian artist Piner announces the release of her new single, “Odelia,” a powerful pop/rock track rooted in folk storytelling that confronts gender inequality, inherited expectations, and the radical act of self-trust.

“Odelia” was inspired by Piner’s reflections on the rollback of gender equality, particularly in light of recent policies emerging from the United States. Rather than giving power to the person who causes “Odelia” harm, Piner turns inward, crafting a narrative that emphasizes self-worth and empowerment.

“This song doesn’t give power to the person who wronged Odelia,” says Piner. “It’s about putting that energy back into yourself, choosing to believe in your own value, and ultimately allowing yourself to walk away.”

Musically, “Odelia” blends folk-rooted lyricism with pop and rock sensibilities, “folk at the roots, rock and pop at the branches.” While the song contains moments of rage, hurt, and vengeance, particularly in its bridge, it ultimately prioritizes reflection over fear, offering clarity instead of collapse.

The Deslondes - Jillette Johnson - Dot Allison - DIVES

The Deslondes - Dunes.

The Deslondes are set to return with Ways & Means July 8th, 2022 via New West Records. The 14-song set is their first album in five years and follows 2017’s critically acclaimed Hurry Home. Ways & Means was produced by The Deslondes & their longtime collaborator Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes) and was recorded at The Bombshelter in Nashville, TN. The album features Margo Price on the title track, as well as Twain and the multi-instrumentalist Billy Contreras on multiple songs as well.

Long combining elements of early Stax, Sun, and Atlantic Records with the influence of a more raw, stripped-down sound gleaned off field recordings from Alan Lomax and the Mississippi Records catalog, the band also incorporate psychedelic flourishes that bring to mind the sonic experimentation of Joe Meek, Lee Hazlewood and the Velvet Underground. Infusing everything from saxophone, flute, and synth to string arrangements and a full drum kit for the first time, the group naturally progresses and evolves in real-time on their third full-length offering.

Lauded as “burgeoning stars” by The New York Times, The Deslondes’ 2014 self-titled debut was a breakout hit praised by NPR as “energized, elegant, and new,” and their follow-up, Hurry Home, earned similar acclaim with Rolling Stone calling it “a gritty, grimy mix of early rock ‘n’ roll and lo-fi R&B.” Following the band’s hiatus in late 2018, members Sam Doores and Riley Downing each released debut solo albums to critical acclaim.

PopMatters called Doore’s eponymous debut “...a deeply poetic and haunting collection that draws upon the musicians’ disparate influences” and “Perhaps not since Los Lobos’ Kiko has an artist so effortlessly married avant-garde and everyman sensibilities, arriving at a place where childlike curiosity meets the fruits of patient practice and ambition. Deep knowledge and unbound imagination coexist peacefully, happily, throughout." Of Downing’s Start It Over (2021), Uncut Magazine in the U.K. called it a “dusty triumph” and described his voice  “...like Johnny Cash with a hangover,” exclaiming “His brain…is abuzz with sounds and ideas, which makes his solo debut a thrill.”

Jillette Johnson - Cul De Sac.

Nashville-based artist Jillette Johnson has just announced her new EP Normal Kid with the official video for the new song “Cul De Sac.” The four song EP, due out on June 15, was co-written and produced by Joe Pisapia who collaborated with Johnson on her critically acclaimed 2021 album It’s A Beautiful Day And I Love You.

“‘Cul De Sac’ is about wanting to feel special and wanting to belong, all at the same time,” explains Johnson. “Growing up, it often felt like I had to choose between the two, but as I got older I realized that my me-ness was only made more radiant in connection to the world around me. I am no more or less than anyone else, and by freeing myself of those comparisons, my star really has the space to shine.”

The Normal Kid EP draws upon late '70s new wave, early '80s synth-pop, and '90s R&B, finding Johnson turning personal revelations about childhood dreams and adulthood realities into universal pop anthems. The EP will arrive with a trio of music videos directed by Grant Claire that were shot over the course of a single day on a vintage Sony Betamax 88 camera. Last month, Johnson released the official video for the EP’s title track.

Normal Kid follows Johnson’s first full length in more than 4 years, It’s A Beautiful Day And I Love You. The album was praised by American Songwriter,  GRAMMY.com, No Depression, NPR Music, Refinery29, Rolling Stone and UNCUT, who called it “a springboard into '60s pop, '70s rock, and Noughties indie...It's an adventurous palette that suits her well.” The Nashville Scene said the album “...offers the kind of songwriting that can make a record feel truly timeless… anchored by floating piano and Johnson’s smooth, flawless vocals.”

Dot Allison - Cue the Tears (Anton Newcombe Remix).

Dot Allison releases the third single from The Entangled Remix EP, a reimagining of the Heart-Shaped Scars album track “Cue The Tears” by The Brian Jonestown Massacre founder and frontman Anton Newcombe. This release follows Lee “Scratch” Perry’s remix of “Love Died In Our Arms,” the final production of his career, and The Anchoress’ remix of the previously unreleased “Murder By Heartbreak.”

Last year during covid lockdowns, Dot met Anton online and they began working together, sharing songs back and forth and forming a relationship that eventually resulted in their collaborative creation of the soundtrack for the TV series “Annika.” With proven artistic chemistry between them, Anton’s remix of “Cue The Tears” showcases his unparalleled musical prowess alongside Dot’s one-of-a-kind songwriting and vocals.

The original version of the song, a sound of sparse, intoxicating dream folk, is here reimagined into a hypnotic, psychedelic soundscape under Anton’s production. Dot’s serene, otherworldly vocals are embraced and elevated by the ethereal sound, becoming an instrument of their own, floating dreamily throughout the song.

“I respect Dot's artistry so much.” Says Anton, “I have worked with a great many people, but she is truly unique and an important artist. I have the utmost respect for her personally, artistically, and for her work ethic, and it is a great honor to be asked to do a remix of sorts. Like much of our work together, I try to work around her ideas, rather than gut them, or change the arrangements too much.”

On working with Anton, Dot says, “I love Anton’s music, his unique sound, his perspective on creativity & his approach and vibe as a collaborator..”

The full Entangled Remix EP, out on May 27, also includes contributions from Saint Etienne and Lomond Campbell. Saint Etienne, who remixes the track “One Love,” have always had close ties to Dot, thanks to their mutual connection to Heavenly and Andrew Weatherall, as well as both having come up in the UK indie dance scene of the early 1990s. Lomond Campbell, a BAFTA-winning songwriter and shortlister for the Scottish Album of the Year Award, combines his ambitious creative spirit with Dot’s poignant lyricism on his remix of “Ghost Orchid.”

DIVES - Ego.

Following tours with L.A. Witch and Courtney Barnett, and fresh from being invited to record a session for NPR, Vienna 3-piece DIVES release their first UK single Ego.

DIVES are rock ‘n’ roll time travellers taking you on wild 70s road trips and through Venice beach nostalgia with their earworm blend of surf-pop, garage-rock, and Riot Grrrl attitude, with a message very much for the now: Anti-discrimination and pro-equality and humanity. Ego explores selfishness and narcissism via strange conversations, it’s about people who never listen and just keep talking. "You got to listen and stop, listen and stop,” the lyrics say, “This conversation is too odd, you better shut it up”.

The chords and melodies are the sonic equivalent of road-tripping down the highways in a convertible, tying in with the metaphoric chorus "Ego babe, it's your ego babe, you're on a one-way road and you're driving too fast”. On this one-way street is only room for the ego of the person. "Do you worry at all about someone that's not you? “

DIVES are Dora de Goederen, Viktoria Kirner and Tamara Leichtfried, the 3-piece have previously released one album, their debut Teenage Years Are Over (2019, Siluh Records) which showed them to be profound songwriters, with statements against the patriarchy and toxic macho attitudes wrapped in catchy rock ‘n’ roll songs and sweet melodies. They have played over 150 shows in 13 different countries around Europe, supporting Courtney Barnett and L.A. Witch.

Ego is taken from DIVES second album Wanna Take You There which follows in October 2022 via Siluh Records.

Many Voices Speak - Nothing's Gone.

Swedish artist Many Voices Speak has announced her second album 'Gestures' will be out on 29th April via Strangers Candy. Having released two previous singles 'Seat for Sadness' and 'Within Reach', she has now shared new track 'Nothing is Gone'. She explains: "Nothing’s Gone is about coping with the physical presence of something that is no longer there."

Many Voices Speak, the project of Swedish musician Matilda Mård, has always found its power in its ability to capture an eternity in an expression. Mård’s elegant, yearning dream-pop makes the world seem to slow down around it, where time stretches out, and you can get lost in the deep pools of memory and emotion. After the success of her 2018 debut 'Tank Town,' her new album 'Gestures' showcases her growth as a songwriter, one more comfortable in her own skin.

Working with longtime producer Petter Nygårdh, the writing process, and how Mård thinks about it, grew into something new on 'Gestures'. She wrote the early versions of the songs on piano, as she always has. But before, she thought as a singer-songwriter, determined to make the songs stand up on their own, in their stripped-back version. Here, she wrote them merely as beginnings, aware of the possibility to evolve them into something more. “I want to capture these things that I can’t really put my finger on”, says Mård. “The lyrics have become more important for me. I’ve put a lot of trust in the text this time. I could explore this darker and more cinematic sound, I didn’t just think about writing a pop song”. That step made for an album that presents a more mature, developed vision of Many Voices Speak.

As well as an artist, the album has seen Mård grow as a person through writing it. Each song represents an issue she has struggled with - they tell a story of unspectacular, but deeply meaningful, transformation. Mård says “What unites the songs is a need for inner change, to handle the things in life that can’t be changed. I’m creating strategies for myself - new ways of thinking, so I can live with certain things. The title comes from that. I’ve figured out that gestures are important because they’re proof of love, and that’s the only power we have against death and separation”. It’s a theme that’s very personal to Mård, but one that resonates with a lot of people – something that could be said about Many Voices Speak itself. The stargazing mood of Gestures makes for an album that’s powerfully moving, one that creates a space apart from the noise of the world around it – a little retreat for Mård, and her listeners, to call their own.

Susan Cattaneo - Borrowed Blue.

Boston award-winning, songwriting boss Susan Cattaneo has shared "Borrowed Blue," from her forthcoming LP, All Is Quiet, which is also released today.

This spare, beautiful track tackles the complicated relationships we, as women, have with our mothers and our daughters - "What do we, as women, inherit and what do we pass on? What roles do we play and what sacrifices do we make?" Susan asks. "I am the daughter of a mother in her nineties and the mother of a teenage daughter, and I wanted to explore these themes and show how sometimes we are caught between what we’ve been taught and being our true selves."

The most powerful voice in the room isn't always the loudest one.  On her new album, All is Quiet, Susan Cattaneo sings softly and carries a big song. Nine big songs, actually. Recorded remotely during the initial months of the pandemic, All is Quiet reflects Susan’s heartache for the world, but also reveals how she rediscovered joy and resiliency through music.

It’s been an extraordinary and challenging time to be a musician and creative person in the world. For many artists and musicians including Susan, those first few months of the pandemic were filled with uncertainty and fear. When the quarantine shut everything down, opportunities were cancelled, collaborations were scrapped and most importantly, momentum was lost. For the first time in her life, Susan felt creatively muted. All is Quiet was the project that helped her process these feelings and in making this album, she found the joy and redemption that only music can bring.

Jesse D'Kora - Dont fool with a phantom.

Jesse D’Kora is an indie/dream pop artist based in Salford (UK). His new song - ‘dont fool with a phantom’ - is his 4th single in as many months. Continuing on the one release per month plan for 2022, this latest track is fun, nostalgic, and crammed full of great vibes.

Jesse tells us "I wanted to make a song that made me feel like I was back in the 90s watching cartoons again. Inspired by those early mornings as a child in front of the tv with some sort of ridiculously unhealthy and tasty cereal, the title of this track is taken from an original classic Scooby Doo episode. Looking back I find the idea of chasing and unmasking the bad guys for them to only turn out to be someone you know and don’t expect strangely paralleltek in adult life. Specifically with the new age anonymity that the internet brings, I decided this song is for the trolls. So any internet trolls out there, this ones for you! ;)"

He continues "Musically it's similar to many of my other tracks; it's got the jangling guitars, surfing drums, washed out vocals and to the point structure. On its own, I think it's a track that wants to chase you down a hallway lined with doors, for you to go in one door and come out of another and the chased become the chaser… or something like that!"

Georgia State Line - Jackson.

Georgia State Line has been on a hot streak since the release of the highly acclaimed and ARIA charting album, ‘In Colour’, released through Cheatin’ Heart Records/Spunk Records.

As one of the most talked about Americana acts in Australia thanks to the refreshingly honest, yet melancholy sounds, that are even parts heartsick and hopeful, Georgia State Line takes the third single from the album to Australian radio, ‘Jackson’.

According to Georgia Delves, ‘Jackson’, is a track inspired by the comfort found in an old worn song.

“Just like good friends, they’re there for us in the best and worst of times, softening the blows and making us all feel a little less alone”.

The Deslondes - South Dakota Wild One.

Lauded as “burgeoning stars” by The New York Times, The Deslondes’ 2014 self-titled debut was a breakout hit praised by NPR as “energized, elegant, and new,” and their follow-up, Hurry Home, earned similar acclaim with Rolling Stone calling it “a gritty, grimy mix of early rock ‘n’ roll and lo-fi R&B.” Following the band’s hiatus in late 2018, members Sam Doores and Riley Downing each released their debut solo albums to critical acclaim. PopMatters called Doores' eponymous debut “...a deeply poetic and haunting collection that draws upon the musicians’ disparate influences” and “Perhaps not since Los Lobos’ Kiko has an artist so effortlessly married avant-garde and everyman sensibilities, arriving at a place where childlike curiosity meets the fruits of patient practice and ambition.

Deep knowledge and unbound imagination coexist peacefully, happily, throughout. Of Downing’s Start It Over (2021), Uncut Magazine in the U.K. called it a “dusty triumph” and described his voice  “...like Johnny Cash with a hangover,” exclaiming “His brain…is abuzz with sounds and ideas, which makes his solo debut a thrill.” The first sampling of Ways & Means is “South Dakota Wild One.”

Nice Vice - No Ends.

Indie-rock trailblazer Nice Vice has just released his latest single, “No Ends.” The new song vividly shows his inspiration from ‘90s rock icons and features melodic guitars, heavy undertones, and honest, reflective lyricism. “No Ends” is now available to stream worldwide on digital music platforms.

“No Ends” conveys to listeners the range of talent of which Seth Horst, known musically as Nice Vice, is capable. Being in your twenties is an exhilarating yet confusing time, and “No Ends” displays the personal strife of having to figure that out. Horst explores how to set boundaries, learn and maybe unlearn life habits, and simply understand how to let things be in his newest single.

“‘No Ends’ went through a lot of phases,” says Horst. “The chorus of this song was originally a slower verse from another track, but after some experimenting and switching things around, it somehow turned into this! It ended up being my favorite recording process of all the songs on the EP!” Similar to his previous release, “Bloom,” the new single was also mixed by Zak Van Zeumeren and mastered by Theodore Papadopoulos. Both songs have been a thrilling look into the upcoming EP from Nice Vice, which he has described as having two main themes.

“Half of the tracks deal with different stages of being in love,” explains Horst. “Some good, some bad, and just the general feeling of new love and how great that can be and then also how bad it can be. The other theme is ego death: dealing with your own personality, breaking points, and becoming someone else.” The EP, entitled First Dose, will be released later this year.
