Charlie Horn - Marble and Mud.

"Marble and Mud" is from In The Pines front person Charlie Horn's whose debut solo album Rhythms Unexplained is out later this year as a self-released effort. In The Pines is widely known as Cincinnati, OH's next big psych-rock export. Horn's work, however, dials back the bombast of ITP's swelling, spacey songs in favor of stripped-back, emotionally poignant narratives that track some pretty harrowing emotional points in Horn's timeline. 

Marble and Mud both kicks off Charlie Horn’s debut album and acts as the opening salvo to listeners from the Cincinnati, OH psych rock In The Pines guitarist. Vintage synthesizers (which Horn salvaged and rebuilt) kick off the opening melody of a song that ponders the usefulness of self-deprecation and lax boundaries under the command of shimmering synths, deft guitars and Horn’s commanding voice that hits somewhere between Kurt Vile and Evan Dando.

Recorded at the In The Pines nerve-centre, a synthesizer repair shop in the basement of a decommissioned Masonic Temple in Dayton, KY, these songs have a world-weary sound of being fully lived in. Fans of Big Star's 3rd, Conor Oberst's Ruminations or the darkness around Kurt Vile's halo of smoke will find a lot to love here.

Detalji - So Call (Summer Night).

Finnish alternative electronic artist Detalji has shared another cut from their new album Imagine Life, a genre-fluid electronic record that moves between dreamlike synths, alternative pop melodies, club influences and 80s nostalgia. ‘So Call (Summer Night)’ captures a moment of possibility and optimism amid uncertainty. Inspired by a night spent dancing, celebrating and falling in love, it reflects the fleeting moments where everything feels open and full of potential.

“This song was distilled directly from a certain memory,” said Detalji. “I remember partying at a midsummer festival with my friends, being intoxicated and happy at that moment listening to techno music and dancing the entire night. And at the same time being excited that I had met a certain special person, and that even though things were uncertain and they were far away, I was feeling hopeful and falling in love with the person and just feeling thankful for being alive. At that moment I felt the world was full of possibilities.”

Imagine Life is a record about navigating contradiction, the desire to escape and the need to connect, the pull between nostalgia and moving forward, and the search for identity within the chaos of everyday life. Throughout the album, themes of longing, desire, heartbreak, anxiety, liberation and connection emerge repeatedly.

Written across Helsinki, Los Angeles and Berlin, the album captures a year of transition, exploring love, loss and reinvention. Across nine tracks, Detalji weaves together elements of electronica, trip-hop, house, drum & bass and synth soundscapes into a cohesive journey.

Young Martyrs - Only You.

Bath’s indie-americana outfit Young Martyrs return with their most ambitious statement yet. ‘Might Just Be Enough’, their third studio album, arrives on August 21st 2026 to limited edition vinyl via fledgling record label Honey Badger Records. The record’s final single ‘Only You’ is released this one week.
 
At its core, ‘Might Just Be Enough’ tells the story of a band striving for something bigger. Written and recorded after years of self-funding releases, relentless touring, and steadily building an audience through sheer perseverance, it’s a classic underdog story as old as recorded music itself: a group of friends with big dreams, refusing to stop believing that the next album might just be enough, capturing the optimism and uncertainty of a band still chasing their next breakthrough.
 
Recorded between Real World Studios and Indefra Studios, the album was created largely as a three-piece, with guitarist Rich Beeby also handling bass duties during the recording process, before welcoming bassist Phil Smith to the lineup. The record was self-produced by the band themselves alongside Sebastian Brice, engineered by Ben Koch, and mastered by renowned engineer Christian Wright (Ed Sheeran, Franz Ferdinand, Blur, Laura Marling) at the iconic Abbey Road Studios.

‘Might Just Be Enough’ represents the band’s most fully realised work to date. Across the album’s ten tracks, the record explores the essence of the human condition: love, longing, grief, hope, mental health and perseverance. Combining driving rhythms, expansive guitars, rich harmonies, addictive choruses and cinematic soundscapes, the album captures a band reaching a new creative peak, all the while remaining grounded in the honesty that has defined their music from the beginning.

The Brook & The Bluff - It Can't Be.

In continuation of their banner year, beloved indie/rock group The Brook & The Bluff have announced a new EP titled Lookout Pond will release on September 25th through Dualtone Records. Comprised of five brand new songs, along with a reimagined version of “Moving Along,” Lookout Pond finds the Nashville-based quartet reuniting with acclaimed producer Micah Tawlks (Hayley Williams, Mat Kearney), who also produced their latest full-length Werewolf. 

They also shared the lead single from the EP titled “It Can’t Be,” a driving, piano-drenched sing-a-long “about the first fall,” described the band. “When you really start to love a person and you feel like you are floating through the air and the only thing that can touch you is the breeze.”

After a packed spring headline tour, plus festival appearances at Hinterland and more, The Brook & The Bluff will jump back on the road this fall for a new round of US headline dates, true to their roadwarrior spirit. Kicking off at the top of October, the route includes stops in Alabama, Knoxville, Savannah, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, St. Louis, New Orleans, and Florida among many others. The band will also appear at this year’s AmericanaFest in September, which will include a performance at Dualtone’s 25th Anniversary Bash at The Basement East on September 17th.

Julian Taylor - Drive.

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Julian Taylor shares “Drive,” a stirring new track that reflects on the uncertainty of the current moment while offering a reminder to keep moving forward. Blending thoughtful lyricism with a warm, full band arrangement, the track explores themes of hope, compassion, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of a more connected world.

Written when Julian observed growing tension, confusion, and hurt between people, “Drive” was born from a desire to counter those feelings with something more hopeful. Inspired by the writers, thinkers, and teachings that shaped his worldview including Martin Luther King Jr., Maya Angelou, Handsome Lake, and The Giving Tree, the song serves as a reminder to continue striving toward kindness, understanding, and positive change.

“The song was inspired by the times in which we are living,” Julian explains. “It’s a strange time and I think people are stressed, confused, hurt, and it feels as if those emotions are being taken out on each other. I want to keep spreading the good word.”

That sense of purpose is reflected in the song’s title. After considering several options, Julian ultimately chose “Drive” as a daily reminder to himself and others to keep pushing toward meaningful goals. It speaks to the internal force that motivates creators, thinkers, and everyday people to continue working toward something bigger than themselves. At its core, “Drive” is about the commitment to growth, compassion, and finding a way forward even when circumstances feel uncertain.

Kate Schutt - Drumfire of the Hurricane.

Award-winning singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer Kate Schutt shares “Drumfire of the Hurricane,” a moving new single inspired by the extraordinary true story of Austrian painter and writer Christiane Ritter’s 1934 memoir A Woman in the Polar Night. Blending folk-rooted storytelling with sweeping adult contemporary arrangements, the song captures a moment of profound uncertainty: a woman alone in an Arctic hut, facing a violent winter storm and the terrifying realization that her survival depends entirely on herself.

The song’s title comes directly from Ritter’s description of the storm as “the furious drumfire of the hurricane,” a phrase that immediately stayed with Kate after first reading the memoir. “Ritter’s phrase is pitch perfect,” Kate explains. “Her writing is so visceral, capturing the overwhelm and terror of being inside a major winter storm. It’s my hope that my song adds another dimension to Ritter’s incredible, indelible story.”

“Drumfire of the Hurricane” explores a moment suspended between fear and action. Ritter knows the danger she is facing, but she has not yet found the courage to act. The song exists in that liminal space between the person she was before the storm and the person she becomes after surviving it.

The track’s emotional intensity is rooted in Kate’s commitment to storytelling. Guided by the songwriting advice that “songs are like little movies,” she approached the song with a cinematic mindset, carefully considering every lyric, sound, and moment. “I knew in a song I’d only have about 150 words, so every word (and every sound we recorded) had to count,” she says.

Cat Nova has just released her new single “Parallel World” and we have to say it's both beautiful and lyrically thought provoking. So many of us have experienced troubling relationships, this song is both personal and more broadly relatable to the listener, we will let the background story tell the rest. 

"It's about a relationship that felt impossible to live with and impossible to leave." – Cat Nova. Parallel World tells the story of a passionate and turbulent relationship from Cat Nova's early twenties. Before taking a hiatus from music to complete a doctorate, write a book, and establish herself as a clinical psychologist, 

Cat spent a decade as a much-adored front woman of Oxford-based indie rock bands the Courtesy Kill & At Risk (the latter's catalogue recently re-issued for streaming by indie label Quickfix Recordings), supporting the likes of Kasabian, King Adora and other 00s luminaries at the now legendary Zodiac in Oxford. "I wrote the lyrics and vocal melody soon after (the relationship ended) and the song just lived rent-free in my head for the next fifteen years until I finally recorded it."

The release marks a new chapter for the singer-songwriter, who has traded (at least for now) her primary writing instrument and accompaniment from the guitar to a piano, with sparse instrumentation that allows the melodies to take centre stage. Drawing inspiration from artists including The Cure, AFI, Cigarettes After Sex and Garbage, her instinctive songwriting process blends atmospheric indie pop rock and her trademark open-hearted, somewhat doomed romantic lyricism with an intimate yet cinematic feel.

The Falls - Loaded Gun.

Manchester's indie-rock four-piece The Falls are pleased to unveil their powerful new single ‘Loaded Gun’, just released on July 3rd 2026. The track is the third to be taken from their upcoming second studio EP ‘Would You Do It All Over Again’ which arrives on September 18th 2026 via Revo Pro.

Since forming in 2023, The Falls have hit the UK's indie scene with remarkable momentum, quickly establishing themselves as one of Manchester's most exciting emerging bands. The band have cultivated a strong live presence, playing key venues UK wide, whilst consistently selling out venues in their hometown of Manchester. February 2026 saw the band play their biggest hometown headline show to date, at Manchester's iconic Manchester Academy, marking another major milestone in their rise. Young Martyrs - Seventeen.

Bath England's alt-Americana four-piece Young Martyrs returned (July 3rd 2026) with their new single ‘Seventeen’, the third track to be taken from their forthcoming third studio album ‘Might Just Be Enough’, arriving August 21st 2026 via Honey Badger Records on limited edition vinyl. Formed in 2020, Young Martyrs released their debut self-titled album that same year. Their coinciding debut headline tour saw them sell out shows throughout the UK, which led to them sharing the stage with the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, The Hooziers and McFly, as well as playing slots at a variety of festivals including Glastonbury and Rock Oyster. Their second album ‘Time Is Not On Our Side’ was released in 2023, expanding their fanbase beyond the UK and saw them playing shows across New York City.

A reflective anthem wrapped in driving rhythms and soaring melodies, 'Seventeen' explores the blurred line between missing a past relationship and missing the person you once were. Built around a sparse, tom-heavy groove before opening into an expansive chorus, the song captures the bittersweet pull of nostalgia, asking whether it's an old love that is being longed for - or simply to feel the way they felt at a certain time in life that can never be revisited.

Felicity Hamer & Black Leather Rose - Heavy Hitter.

Felicity Hamer & Black Leather Rose brings together three of the most prominent names on Montreal’s alt-country and garage rock scenes to create a new sound that combines classic honky tonk with modern indie in ways only Montreal musicians can.

That sense of adventure is palpable on the group’s self-titled five-song debut EP (six if you get it from Bandcamp), that will officially arrive on July 24. It presents surprises at every turn, with melodies drawn from icons such as Tammy Wynette and Emmylou Harris blending with ambient soundscapes and psychedelic overtones inspired by contemporary Americana heroes like Neko Case.

Along with Felicity Hamer, whose CV contains stints with United Steelworkers of Montreal, the Slowinks, Filly & The Flops and other projects, the trio is comprised of guitarist Roy Vucino, a staple of Montreal’s punk and experimental scenes who has worked with Evan Dando, Mac DeMarco and Mike Watt, and engineer/multi-instrumentalist Sebastien Perry whose studio experience includes David Usher, Nikki Yanofsky, Florence K, and a host of other beloved Quebec artists. Tracks also feature Berlin native Omri Gondor (Saba Lou, Hellshovel) on drums as well as appearances by various Montreal musicians.

Today they share the EP’s first single “Heavy Hitter,” a tribute to Canada’s greatest boxer, George Chuvalo. Felicity explains, “Roy had this idea for a song about a boxer who never gave up, and he shared a melody with a few lines: ‘He won’t throw in the towel, when he’s on the ropes.’ I didn’t know any boxing lingo, but I know how to conduct research!

Ringlets - Hard Evidence.

Ringlets have just shared ‘Hard Evidence’, their sassy and supernal new single, via Flying Nun Records. Touching on labour, collapse, and stolen trousers - arriving with a music video directed by Martin Sagadin - the visual collaborator behind much of Aldous Harding’s acclaimed work - The track finds the Auckland post-punk four piece in vivid, uncompromising form.

‘Hard Evidence’ was recorded over a day at Roundhead Studios with De Stevens - more time than the band have previously been allotted for a single track. That space allowed the song to be developed fully in the room, and the result is audible: delicate, more industrial in texture, and underpinned by a melody a little sweet beneath the surface. Sagadin’s video takes that same physicality somewhere more surreal, where support and strain occasionally look indistinguishable.

Live, Ringlets are a different proposition again. Their first Australian tour culminated in eight sold-out shows, an appearance at BIGSOUND Festival in Brisbane, and festival slots at Rhythm & Vines, Twisted Frequency, and Laneway Festival. They recently opened for Black Country, New Road, and tomorrow will begin a 28-date run of the U.K and Europe including appearances at The Great Escape Festival, ArcTanGent, and headline shows at The Windmill, The Hug & Pint and Supersonic Paris.

The Legendary Ten Seconds - Sci Fi Hi Fi (Album)

We are always on the look out for something a little different and The Legendary Ten Seconds have consistently delivered on that front both musically, lyrically and by genre. So this time we have and I quote "An album of science fiction and astronomy themed songs featuring the sounds of the Mellotron." The album comes from the South West of England, recorded at Rock Lee, Torquay. Mixed and mastered by Lord Zarquon at Rainbow Starshine Studio in Marldon, South Devon. There's something different in the water the further West you go in England, whatever it is, certainly seems to make the creative juices flow (pun intended).

The album features: Ian Churchward vocals, guitars and keyboards, Jay Brown bass guitar, six string electric guitar and keyboards on The Time Stream, Ashley Dyer trumpet, Alfred Bolt electric guitar, George Bolt keyboards and backing vocals on the Lonely Planet and Lord Zarquon on drums and keyboards.

The Legendary Ten Seconds started off as the solo music project of Ian Churchward during the time when he was the lead guitar player of The Morrisons who were featured on John Peel's radio one show back in 1987. In 2013 Lord Zarquon joined Ian's music project and since then the line up has gradually expanded and various guest musician's and vocalists have helped out in the recording studio.

Pam Ross - That Kind of Summer.

Award-winning singer-songwriter Pam Ross returns today Friday, May 8 with her new track, “That Kind of Summer,” the first taste of her upcoming LP Wait for It. Built on sun-soaked imagery and a carefree spirit, “That Kind of Summer” captures the kind of moment you don’t plan—you just fall into. From “flip flop summer days” to “a hidden path on an old beach road,” the song leans into spontaneity and escape, pairing vivid storytelling with a breezy, radio-friendly hook: “It’s a top rolled back, that kind of summer…”

Original psychedelic rock pioneers Strawberry Alarm Clock return with the new single "The Sky Isn't Falling," a swirling rocker laden with gorgeous harmonies and lysergic guitars that continues to built the buzz for the legendary band's new album due this Summer from Big Stir Records. Together with the recent singles "Blow Your Mind" and "Monsters," it's strong evidence that Strawberry Alarm Clock is still going strong with five original members, and may be the most vital force from their generation on the scene today.

Strawberry Alarm Clock occupies a unique place on the 21st Century psych and indie rock landscape. Few true '60s veterans can boast a lineup as close to their original roster, but here they are with fve members who've been part of their legacy since the start – Mark Stephen Weitz (keyboards), Randy Seol (drums), George Bunnell (bass), Gene Gunnels (drums/percussion), multi-instrumentalist (and Oingo Boingo co-founder) Steve Bartek, plus guitarist Howie Anderson who's been a full member for forty years. 

Even more amazingly and importantly, while they embody the spirit of their original era, they trade not on nostalgia but on pursuing the musical ambition, experimentalism and unbridled creativity that made them shine in those early years. Young Martyrs - Sugar On My Tongue.

Hot on the heels of April's 'Is There Anybody Out There?, Young Martyrs return today May 8th with their new single 'Sugar On My Tongue' and accompanying music video, the second single to be taken from their upcoming third studio album 'Might Just Be Enough', arriving this Summer. 

'Sugar On My Tongue' was recorded and produced at both Real World Studios in Bath and Indefra Studios in Frome by the band themselves, with co-production from Sebastian Brice and engineering from Ben Koch. The track was mastered by Christian Wright (Ed Sheeran, Franz Ferdinand, Blur, Laura Marling) at London's renowned Abbey Road Studios.

The song is one of three on the album written by lead guitarist Rich Beeby. It sees the band explore the desperately vulnerable yet universally relatable feelings surrounding undeclared feelings and physical longing.

Discussing the lyrical themes explored in the single, Beeby says, "The band rocks and rolls in this song so it needed a lyric that's raw and does most of its thinking from the neck down. It's about the visceral feelings of unspoken attraction and physical longing, and how those feelings might be suppressed, but can eventually develop into fantasy or obsession. It's really down to the listener to decide if surrendering to that intoxicating lustfulness should be avoided or celebrated."

Rusty Shackle - Your Arrows.

'Rusty Shackle' are back with an explosive statement of intent. Their new single 'Your Arrows' is released today May 8th and is our first taste from the brand new album 'Mayfield' that the band will release and showcase at Caldicot Castle on Saturday 29th August with special guests Taff Rapids, Tom Jenkins and Ernie Emmanuel.

A defiant, cinematic anthem about choosing your own path, the track channels American Western imagery into a modern inner battle between self-doubt and belief. With a vivid, time-bending narrative and a rallying battlecry chorus, it captures the clarity that comes when true intentions are revealed, and the strength it takes to stand up for what you believe in. 

Musically, the track is driven by a bluesy stomp that channels the swagger of Led Zeppelin, opening with a punchy, recognisable drum intro that propels it forward. Eve Goodman + SERA - Alice Phoebe Lou - Young Martyrs - Ivan Moult

Eve Goodman + SERA - Anian.

Continuing with their nature-inspired theme, Anian (the Welsh word for Instinct) is a song that addresses modern life and burnout; a clarion call urging us to return to the rhythms of nature. This is the third in a run of singles by singer-songwriters Eve Goodman and SERA from their upcoming collaborative album, Natur, due for release in the Autumn of 2025. It follows their first single Blodyn Gwyllt which was released in July, and Cwlwm Cariad, which was released in August.

The song draws you in with a satisfyingly hooky melody, woven with percussive textures and harmonies. The lyrics lament an existence where forgetting to rest and breathe is normalised, and urge us to ‘stand still’ and ‘listen to our instincts,’ making this track an important listen amidst the fog of a burnt out and overworked society. The bridge opens out into a spacious delivery of a home truth: ‘to remember our nature, we must look to nature’. It is a song about remembering that as humans, we are not separate from nature.

The track was recorded at Wild End Studio near Llanrwst, North Wales, with co-producer Colin Bass. (member of Camel and also producer of the Tincian album from 9 Bach which won ‘Best Album’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award in 2015). Alice Phoebe Lou - Darling.

Alice Phoebe Lou shares her radiant new single ‘Darling’, ahead of her sixth album Oblivion, which will be released on 24th October via Nettwerk Music Group. Young Martyrs - Never Gave You The Blues.

Bath (England) based alt-americana four-piece Young Martyrs are pleased to reveal the music video for their single ‘Never Gave You The Blues’, released this weekend.
 
Formed in 2020, Young Martyrs released their debut self-titled album that same year. Their coinciding debut headline tour saw them sell out shows throughout the UK, which led to them sharing the stage with the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, The Hooziers and McFly, as well as playing slots at a variety of festivals including Glastonbury and Rock Oyster. Their second album ‘Time Is Not On Our Side’ was released in 2023, expanding their fanbase beyond the UK and saw them playing shows across New York City.

‘Never Gave You The Blues’ was produced with Sebastian Brice (Indefra Studios) at Real World Studios. Featuring guest vocals from Natalie Brice (Sinnober), the track, originally released as a single as part of 2023’s second studio album ‘Time Is Not On Our Side’, fuses delicate rhythms, gorgeous harmonies and soaring country-esque guitar lines to delve into the breakdown of a meaningful relationship. 

Discussing the single, vocalist Tom Corneill explains, “‘Never Gave You The Blues’ is about the breakdown of something beautiful, but he sees it one way and she sees it another. He says if he’d known it was going to hurt them both he would never have started it… but we know that’s not really true. It’s a classic he said / she said story; Not everyone can be telling the truth.”

Ivan Moult - Did You Think That I Was Lost?

The first glimpse of a brand new upcoming album from Cardiff-based artist Ivan Moult will be Did You Think That I Was Lost?, which is out now via Bubblewrap and across all streaming platforms.

Ivan explains: “The song is a reflection on the emotional paths instinctively taken when you feel under pressure, and in the aftermath, about how we mend bridges and rekindle love and affection. The sound is late evening, woozy admittance and reconciliation. Soulful clipped beats and tremolo wobbles underneath as questions are asked, explanations given and the song builds towards clutches and releases of remorseful electric guitar riffs in psychedelic octaves.”

Ivan’s signature sound remains at the core: a seamless blend of 1960s/70s folk and blues infused with modern textures, drawing influence from John Martyn, the late great Terry Reid and Ry Cooder. On the new album entitled 'Stood Out In The Storm', that familiar intimacy is expanded with a greater presence of guitars and organs, adding new depth and urgency to the sound. 

As with his previous records, Ivan wrote, played, recorded and mixed the album at his Cardiff home studio, and the record sits as a companion piece to Songs From Severn Grove.
