Nameless Friends - The Quiet Part, Loudly (Album).

With their album The Quiet Part, Loudly released today April 15, 2026, Toronto rock collective Nameless Friends continue to build momentum with the release of their third single, “Clara,” which dropped February 25. Expanding on the foundation laid by their 2023 debut Blasphemy, the new record finds the band sharpening both their sound and their message—blending gravity with irreverence as they confront injustice, identity, and the realities of modern Canada. 

It also marks their first collaboration with renowned engineer Nyles Spencer, known for his work with The Tragically Hip, Broken Social Scene, and Alvvays. Drawing from the band’s experiences touring across the country, The Quiet Part, Loudly delivers an unflinching look at systemic oppression and personal transformation while still pulsing with the raw, joyful energy that defines the group. “This album is a love letter with constructive criticism to our home country,” says frontperson Number One. “If you didn’t care about improving the relationship, you wouldn’t bother giving the criticism.”

Across the album, Nameless Friends push their genre-blurring instincts even further, weaving heartland rock, folk, punk, and protest traditions into a sound that feels both urgent and celebratory. The songs wrestle with themes like the erosion of human rights, generational trauma, and the legacy of colonial violence, yet the band is determined to keep the music alive with movement and possibility. “I refuse to make joyless, preachy music,” Number One explains. 

“That’s not going to be effective at anything.” Spencer’s production helps capture the band’s restless spirit, balancing raw spontaneity with careful craft—whether in prairie-gothic stompers, plaintive folk ballads, or sprawling protest anthems that draw inspiration from artists like Neil Young and Kendrick Lamar. Since the release of Blasphemy, the London, Ontario–formed band—featuring Number One alongside Number Three, Number Five, and Number Seven, with touring member Number Six—has built a reputation for explosive live shows and fearless songwriting, selling out rooms like Toronto’s legendary Horseshoe Tavern while amplifying issues from climate collapse to trans rights. With The Quiet Part, Loudly, they’re doubling down on that mission—loudly, unapologetically, and with plenty of glitter.

MOMO. - Egum Eô.

MOMO. is a London-based Brazilian multi-instrumentalist whose music moves across borders. With roots in Brazil but a life lived in Angola, the US, Spain, Portugal, and now the UK, MOMO. crafts a sound that transcends place. His upcoming album, Tum Tum Tum, sung in Portuguese and English, is built around the idea of continuity and forward momentum featuring guest appearances from bossa nova and Brazilian legend Marcos Valle and Smoke City's Nina Miranda.
 
Recorded live in South London with his tight-knit band including long-standing collaborators and UK jazz trombonist Rosie Turton, Tum Tum Tum is a free flowing, warm, expansive and fully assured album, his 8th to date and exudes a playfulness, a sense of someone who is truly in their element and at peace when writing and recording.
 
Lead track “Egum Eô” is a wonderfully Brazilian opening and sets the scene perfectly with MOMO.’s vocal sounding much like the album’s title ‘Tum Tum Tum’, pushing the positivity sky high in unison with a gorgeous horn hook. The broken groove slowly rolls in like a curling surf-perfect wave before the band all join the jam leaving the listener joyfully entranced.

The artist shares, “Egum Eô feels like an invocation. In Candomblé, Egum refers to ancestral spirits, and the phrase appeared naturally while we were playing, following the Afro-Brazilian pulse of the drums.” The visualiser for “Egum Eô” was developed by Raíssa Pardini in collaboration with Conor Lumsden, with Pardini also creating the album artwork.

The City Gates - Capitol Hill.

Known for their dark, melodic, and emotionally charged sound, Montreal, CA-based The City Gates have established themselves on the international alternative scene with two albums, Age of Resilience (Icy Cold Records / Velouria Recordz), and Forever Orbiter (Northern Light Records). The City Gates have been featured on several top album charts across the globe, and in outlets such as Post-Punk.com, Sonic Seducer, Orkus, and Sanctuary.cz.

Their latest single "Capitol Hill" blends driving post-punk rhythms with hazy shoegaze textures and distant, echoing vocals. The track introduces their third LP, Chimera, arriving on May 15 via Icy Cold Records and Velouria Recordz, a dark and expansive record that pushes their sound further into cold, atmospheric territory. The new album will include their stellar tracks "Lapidation", and "La douleur (des mortels)."

The City Gates present the music video for “Capitol Hill,” a stark, brutalist exploration of an urban landscape in moody black-and-white. The clip moves through the geometry of the city, with snow-cloaked sidewalks, blurred trains, corridors and revolving doors, passing bodies, and overexposed close-ups of faces. It all hints at fading warmth and social disorientation, echoing the song’s overarching themes of isolation.

Emily Mercer - Flatlining.

Manchester-based artist Emily Mercer returns with her kaleidoscopic new single ‘Flatlining’, released April 15th; a lush, propulsive track that captures the frustration of feeling stuck in your own patterns, and the quiet determination to break free. Blending indie, folk, alternative pop and jazz-tinged sensibilities, ‘Flatlining’, produced by Rhys Jiang, sees Mercer at her most emotionally direct, the track contrasting its upbeat musicality with a deeply introspective core.

“Flatlining was born out of frustration at feeling stagnant and stuck in life, going round in circles, getting in my own way and knowing I can be better than I allow myself to be,” Mercer explains. “It’s about feeling trapped by your own mind, falling into the same patterns over and over - but ultimately it’s a call to action. It’s that moment of realising you’ve been waiting for life to happen, and deciding to fight against the apathy.”

Originally from the Suffolk coast and now based in Manchester, Mercer has spent years crafting her distinct voice, one that blends classic piano songwriting with lo-fi textures, rich arrangements and quietly disarming lyricism. Her work explores mental health, self-sabotage and what she describes as “a messy humanity,” delivered with dry humour and emotional clarity.

Her music draws comparisons to artists such as Fiona Apple, Mitski and Weyes Blood with a vocal reminiscent of Tracey Thorn in early Everything But The Girl. She effortlessly pairs confessional songwriting with rich, genre-fluid soundscapes.

Alex Amor - Meet On The Moon.

Scottish-raised singer-songwriter Alex Amor has signed to New York independent label VERO Music and today shares new single 'Meet On The Moon' - a celestial meditation on grief and feminine mysticism - ahead of upcoming performances at Liverpool Sound City and The Great Escape. Co-produced by Alex Amor and Karma Kid (Jessie Ware, Jalen Ngonda), 'Meet On The Moon' was written during a month-long creative reset back home in Glasgow, marking a turning point in Amor’s artistic direction.

Opening the door to a more expansive sonic palette - built around shimmering guitars, soft-focus synths and hypnotic melodies - 'Meet On The Moon' unfolds in a hazy, slow-burning alt-pop space reminiscent of Cigarettes After Sex, with shades of Samia’s pop introspection and the melodic sensibility of Clairo’s 'Sling' era.

At its core, the song is a tribute to a close friend Amor lost, imagining her watching back from the moon, as she explains: "I wrote 'Meet On The Moon' a few years ago, at a time when I was aching to create something different, to step into a new sonic world entirely. I went back to Glasgow for a month, put fate in my own hands, and started producing myself. It felt like reclaiming something. Meet On The Moon was the second song I wrote there.

The song is about a friend who completely embodied the mystical, magical woman archetype I sing about in the lyrics. A few months before I wrote it, she passed away. I found myself thinking about her magnetism - the magnitude of her spirit, the force of her nature - and how, in some strange way, Earth felt too small to contain her. For many reasons, this song had to come first in this body of work. It’s an homage to the divine feminine, which the moon - in her glowing, milky fullness - has always symbolised. Women are cyclically tied to the lunar rhythm, and that beautiful, elusive pull of the moon became the heartbeat of the song’s ephemeral sound.”

Ark Identity - Closer.

Toronto dream pop artist Ark Identity (Noah Mroueh) returns with “Closer,” a dreamy, euphoric indie-synthwave track that captures the feeling of standing on the edge of something bigger. Blending nostalgic production with deeply personal songwriting, the single reflects the emotional highs and restless momentum that come with chasing creative ambition and believing that your dreams are just within reach.

Inspired by his journey as a musician, “Closer” explores the moment when progress becomes tangible; when you feel yourself approaching a new chapter, yet realize that every step forward only reveals another horizon beyond it. The title itself reflects that sensation of being on the brink of something transformative, whether it’s a creative breakthrough, a personal evolution, or the quiet realization that the pursuit of a dream is a journey without a clear finish line.

This song marks a milestone for the Ark Identity project. It’s his first fully self-produced release, with every instrument performed by the artist. During production, he was experimenting with vocal ideas when his girlfriend walked into his DIY studio and started adding melodies. That spontaneous moment helped shape the song and they finished writing it together.

“One of my favourite lines is ‘Coming home from Hollywood leaves me wanting more.’ That lyric captures the song’s essence, the feeling of chasing something bigger and realizing no matter how close you get, there’s always another level you want to reach,” Noah explains, “I hope listeners connect to the message and are inspired to pursue their own dreams and passions.”

Indiepop legend Tammy Ealom of Dressy Bessy fame debuts the new solo project and single / video Junk Mail under the name The Tammy Shine. 

On February 20, 2026, one of indie rock’s most enduring and vibrant figures will reintroduce herself to the world. Tammy Ealom, best known as the snarling frontwoman and creative force behind Denver’s legendary Dressy Bessy, presents her debut solo album The Tammy Shine, Ok Shine Ok. Released via Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records (HHBTM), the album marks a pivotal moment in Ealom’s three-decade career. Ok Shine Ok is the first time she has taken complete command—writing, performing, engineering, producing, and mixing the record entirely on her own.

The Tammy Shine presents a collection of songs that are as gritty as they are glossy, embodying the DIY ethos that has defined her life since childhood. Ealom’s songwriting on Ok Shine Ok is a masterclass in blending disparate genres, a skill she developed through her father’s eclectic record collection. Her first personal purchase was Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall, a polished masterpiece of pop production.

Seeing her enthusiasm, her father gifted her a stack of vinyl that included the album Hang On Sloopy by The McCoys. Perhaps the most compelling narrative of Ok Shine Ok is Tammy’s role as the technical architect of the album. In an industry where female artists are often assumed to be just the "voice" or the "face," she has quietly become a formidable studio engineer.

The James Hunter Six - Here And Now.

This week, The James Hunter Six shares the dreamy new single "Here And Now," arguably the most beautiful tune on the band's new album Off The Fence, which releases on January 16 with Easy Eye Sound. A moving song written for his wife, Jessie Perez Huntsman, "Here And Now" showcases Hunter's ability to conjure up his own musical atmospherics as a guitar player, with his lilting, evocative fretwork recalling the great instrumentalists of the ’60s. 

James Hunter on the new single: "I first got talking to Jessie at a gig I was playing in New York. A year later she came to a show in Wilmington. We struck up a friendship, stayed in contact and had our first date in Jamaica, NY after I had played in New York with Van Morrison. She drove from her cousin's wedding in New Jersey to meet me, and we hung out for a couple of days before I had to fly home. She dropped me off at JFK, and I checked in while she looked for a parking spot. It took her a long time to find one, and the departure time was getting closer. With perfect timing, just as I was reluctantly making my way to the departure gate, she threw herself at me from behind in a frantic rugby tackle. We embraced, and I saw a tear in her eye. I told her I loved her, something I'd never done on a first date. And I've felt that way ever since. This song's about her."  

British singer, songwriter and GRAMMY-nominated James Hunter has been a legendary fixture in the scene for over three decades, with MOJO dubbing him “The United Kingdom’s Greatest Soul Singer." His eleventh studio album delivers another dose of timeless rhythm & soul, marking 40 years since his recording debut. Featuring twelve self-penned gems, each song is delivered with Hunter’s customary blend of smooth vocal control coupled with heart-worn grit and wit. The band has already shared two singles, including the infectious blues blaster “A Sure Thing” and a rare duet with legendary Irish singer Van Morrison called "Ain't That A Trip."

ARK IDENTITY - Falling Apart.

Toronto indie pop artist ARK IDENTITY (Noah Mroueh) returns with "Falling Apart," a late-night anthem that captures the ache of modern heartbreak in the digital age. Built around a heartbeat-on-the-edge pulse, the track unfolds with hypnotic layers of synth, reverb-soaked guitar, and ARK IDENTITY's signature ethereal vocal delivery – a sonic mirror of what it feels like to come undone through a screen.

"We all experience heartbreak at least once in our lives," Noah shares. "The song's lyrics were inspired by modern-day breakups that mostly unfold through screens and text messages. In some ways, it's a reflection of how people can grow apart in the digital age."

Originally titled "On My Cell Phone," the song evolved into "Falling Apart" – a title that felt truer to its emotional weight. Recorded in a single session, the song came together almost effortlessly. "It just poured out," Noah explains. ""One of those rare days where every sound seems to find its place before you have time to overthink it. The rhythm section gives it a heartbeat-on-the-edge pulse that ties the whole track together."

The production choices were intentionally imperfect. The choruses carry a low rumble – almost like interference – that mirrors the experience of losing connection both literally and emotionally. "I didn't want it to sound too clean; heartbreak isn't clean," Noah adds. "It's messy, blurry, and human."

Melanie Crew and Ross Palmer - Some Other Stories (Album).
  
We are really pleased to feature Melanie Crew and Ross Palmer. They tell us "Music doesn’t need to raise its voice to be powerful" and describe their sound as "gently harmonised voices and palette of fingerpicked acoustic and shimmering electric guitars" This is musically everything they want to say, and I have to say it is absolutely gorgeous. Sometimes talent can excel quietly, this is a case in point! 

Melanie and Ross began playing together when Melanie was bitten by the songwriting bug and began to play her songs live. Ross – also a songwriter and veteran of many folk and roots bands – sat in on guitar and started to sing some harmonies. Before they knew it, their personal partnership was also a musical partnership. Since then, they’ve released an EP, Away from the City, a debut album, Quiet After Midnight, and now Some Other Stories, their second full-length record as a duo.

Produced and largely recorded at their South London home, Some Other Stories contains 11 self-written songs and one arrangement of a traditional. Drawing on influences from Fairport Convention to Elliott Smith, it pushes the themes they explored on Quiet After Midnight into new territory. The songs contemplate the connections we make with each other and what happens when those connections break down. They examine the people we are and how we become those people. They look at the past with a kind eye and to the future with cautious optimism.

While handling the majority of instruments between themselves, Melanie and Ross brought in a team of exceptional players to add light and shade to their songs, including Adam Beattie and Colin Somervell on double bass, Basia Bartz on violin, Nick Frater on piano and Hammond organ, and Ben Handysides on cello. Ross’s Great Days of Sail bandmates Yo Zushi and Russell Parton also feature in the choir on the traditional ballad Our Captain Cried All Hands. Jon Clayton recorded some of these musicians, and Dave Milligan mastered the album. These wonderful people helped Melanie and Ross to tell their stories.

The Promise - The Last Drop.

This is a sensitive and very touching song from The Promise who tell us "Love is hard. Despite the best efforts of the couple it doesn’t always work out. The grief may last a lifetime. This song is about reaching the final stages of that grief – when all that’s left is the last drop."

Artist Background - We are a folk rock indie band formed in 2025 to carry forward our collective love of music and of making music together. 

Andrew Curran (songwriter and vocalist) is also a paediatric neurologist with 38 years experience working at the front line of the NHS. Flo, Julia and Aiden are rising stars in the folk scene in the South West (England) with numerous appearances throughout the region including Glastonbury festival. Noah and Fraser are established musician and producers in the Manchester area. Noah is also Andrew’s son.

Argyro - Lifeline.

Multi-instrumentalist, charting songwriter, and featured actor Scott Argiro, known musically as Argyro, releases his brand-new single and official music video “Lifeline” today Friday, December 5th. The song marks the final release of an exceptionally strong year for Argyro—one that has seen him expand his presence across music, film, and entertainment.

“Lifeline,” originally featured on Argyro’s acclaimed album Glitterati, stands out as one of his most emotionally resonant and lyrically urgent works. Built on themes of unity, compassion, and human connection, the track showcases Argyro’s hallmark multi-instrumental performance—drums, bass, keys, guitars, vocals—and his instinct for blending introspective songwriting with cinematic pop soundscapes. The accompanying music video, also premiering December 5th, visually amplifies the song’s message with a bold, heartfelt narrative that reflects the tension and hope embedded in the lyrics.

Clover County - ARK IDENTITY - Jon Nolan & Good Co.

This week, emerging Georgia singer/songwriter Clover County releases the new single “Good Game” from her upcoming debut LP Finer Things, out September 26 via her own label Undercover Lover Records in partnership with Thirty Tigers. Co-written by Will Taylor of Hovvdy (who also provides background vocals), the song finds Clover taking the high road — wishing her ex well with a dash of ‘bless your heart’ irony instead of putting him on blast.

“‘Good Game’ was inspired by a D-3 college athlete with a god complex — someone my friends and family couldn’t stand, and honestly, neither could I by the end,” shares Clover. “I was deep in his insecure manipulations for way too long, and breaking free felt like winning a championship. I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of a breakup song, especially since, right after we split, everything started falling into place for me…while he moved back into his parents’ basement. So I leaned into a ‘bless your heart’ kind of energy – wishing him well, because Lord knows he’ll need it.” 

Produced by Carrie K (Noah Kahan, Maggie Antone, Koe Wetzel), the album is a coming-of-age soundtrack that explores romantic, familial and platonic love with a winking charm and an observing eye. Already, Clover has shared the album’s first single “Virginia Slim,” which arrived last month alongside the album announcement. Equally inspired by the classic country of Dolly Parton and the ‘90s rock of Sheryl Crow as she is by her contemporaries like Waxahatchee and Hovvdy, the album blends the twang of timeless country songwriting with tongue-in-cheek observations on modern love.

ARK IDENTITY - Can't Stop Loving You.

Toronto indie pop singer-songwriter and producer ARK IDENTITY returns with "Can't Stop Loving You," a confessional, melancholic new single that captures the ache of a love that lingers long after it's ended. The track is the latest offering from the artist's upcoming EP Deluxe Nightmare, out October 24th.

Drifting between dreamy textures and vulnerable lyricism, "Can't Stop Loving You" leans into the still-burning embers of a past connection. For Noah Mroueh, the artist behind ARK IDENTITY, this song cuts deep. "This song captures the bittersweet ache of a love that just won't fade," Noah shares. "It's a raw, honest look at the lingering feelings after a breakup, the kind where you're trying to move on but your heart keeps pulling you back."

As with much of ARK IDENTITY's work, the soundscape is immersive and hazy—pulling from dream pop's ethereal textures and indie pop's emotional immediacy. Lush synths wrap around sparse percussion and Noah's soft, aching vocals, evoking the solitude of late-night drives or quiet moments of reflection.

"This song is incredibly personal for me. It's about that universal feeling of trying to move on from someone you deeply cared about, but realizing a part of you just can't let go," Noah explains. "That 'crack in the pavement' moment, where something small triggers a flood of memories – I think everyone can relate to that."

Jon Nolan & Good Co. - Sea Glass.

Today, Jon Nolan & Good Co. released “Sea Glass,” the latest single from Slow Cooker, Nolan’s forthcoming album with Good Co., his band of hometown friends, out September 19 via Strolling Bones Records. On the album, the New Hampshire native underscores his relatable storytelling with eloquent folk-inspired songcraft accented by flourishes of country and rock brought to life during cozy and relaxed jam sessions which took place in his hometown of Newmarket. Released alongside a gorgeous, heartfelt music video, “Sea Glass” beautifully captures this spirit using imagery of ocean-worn glass and driftwood to reflect on how love, grief, and time shape who we become.

The music video stars two of Portland, Maine’s most respected and prolific musical figures—Jon Roods (Rustic Overtones, Paranoid Social Club) and Anna Lombard (Gypsy Tailwind, Love by Numbers)—and was co-directed by Nolan and Jay Boyington. Boyington’s rich, cinematic style brings the beauty of Maine as a spectacular backdrop that’s as layered as the song itself. The story of the video follows a fictional romance between a lobsterman (Roods) and his mysterious new neighbor (Lombard). What begins as a lighthearted and visually lush montage of new love evolves into a more emotional journey—mirroring the song’s metaphor of sea glass: once whole, then broken, reshaped by time and turmoil, and ultimately rediscovered with even more beauty.

“Sea glass is a lovely metaphor for life and relationships,” says Nolan. “Not everything that is beautiful is built in comfort. Trust is so often built in repair. Things get broken and tossed around by the world, and still come back more interesting, more textured, more valuable—that felt deeply human. Jon and Anna brought that to life with incredible heart. They are fierce and fearless creatives. I’m so happy they were willing to join me in this endeavor.”
