Montreal's Taxi Girls arrive with Static, their debut full-length album, out June 26 on Stomp Records. If the first two singles introduced the band, Static is where the full picture develops. Across ten tracks, Taxi Girls pull together giant hooks, sharp songwriting, dual-vocal chemistry, and a deep appreciation for the women who made rock and roll dangerous, stylish, and impossible to ignore. There are flashes of The Runaways, Girlschool, Nikki Corvette, The No Talents, and the melodic punch of classic power pop throughout the record, but never as imitation. These songs feel less like homage and more like continuation.

The album feels born from afternoons spent digging through dusty bins, arguments over forgotten punk singles, and record bags slung over shoulders. Mile End bars become afterparties. Somebody always puts on the perfect 45 at exactly the right moment. The city is everywhere on Static, not as subject matter, but as perspective. It’s the sound of a band raised on great records, great stories, and the belief that a three-minute song can still change your day.

While the album carries plenty of swagger, it also reveals a band willing to dig deeper. Across Static, Taxi Girls explore love, loss, mental health, postpartum depression, self-doubt, and the strange comfort of nostalgia. The songs don't offer neat conclusions or easy answers. Instead, they trace the difficult path toward self-acceptance, resilience, and learning when to let go of the things that no longer serve you.

The album's title captures that tension perfectly. Static represents the feeling of being stuck while somehow remaining in motion, caught between reflection and reinvention. Even the lemon on the album cover reflects that spirit. It's a symbol of making the best of life's worst situations, finding meaning in setbacks, and pushing forward when standing still would be easier.

Cimarron 615 - Aruba.

Acclaimed Americana collective Cimarron 615 returns with Same Sky, arriving August 7th via Blue Élan Records. The band’s third album and most fully realized statement to date, is introduced by the lead single, “Aruba,” a breezy horn-driven reggae ode about escaping life’s daily pressures. “It’s a party song about a lost weekend,” says bassist and vocalist Jack Sundrud. “The story of a guy who goes to the Caribbean on vacation and parties so hard that he not only has no memory of what happened, he apparently didn’t even make it out of his motel room.”

The album finds Poco veterans Jack Sundrud (bass, vocals), Michael Webb (keyboards, accordion), Rick Lonow (drums, percussion), and guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Ronnie Guilbeau, Combined, the band builds on the chemistry that first brought them together following the passing of Poco co-founder Rusty Young.

The story of Cimarron 615 begins with Poco, one of the pioneering bands of the country-rock movement. After Rusty Young’s passing in 2021, Blue Élan Records founder Kirk Pasich assembled Lonow, Sundrud and Webb for a tribute concert and recording project. The chemistry was undeniable. When Guilbeau—who co-wrote Poco’s 1989 Top 20 hit “Call It Love”—joined the lineup, what began as a tribute quickly evolved into a band with its own identity.

Collectively, the four musicians represent decades of American music history. Beyond Poco, their résumés include Burrito Deluxe, Great Plains, Brooklyn Cowboys, Palomino Road, and GYG, along with recording and touring credits alongside Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Loretta Lynn, Chris Stapleton, John Prine, John Fogerty, Hank Williams Jr. and many more.

Dave Clark - Through The Wall.

The journey continues. Dave keeps us intrigued with “Through the Wall” an intimate reflection on disintegrating relationships and our desire not to accept reality. The masterful guitar complements the lyrics without overwhelming, allowing us to sink into the melody.

Producer Glenn Kerrigan created a lush atmospheric backdrop for the song with floating synths and intricate beats. “We’ve all buried our heads in the sand when things go wrong in a relationship," said Dave. “Rather than write the standard. "You write the now and I’m sad type of song."

"I thought it would bring something new and reflect on how we cling on, even when we know it’s well past its sell-by date." Dave continues to release intriguing and listenable songs, each with it’s own character but recognisably his own, making him one of today’s more interesting songwriters.

D.B. Tait - Before You Go.

As the latest artist to appear out of the fertile musical soil of Ontario’s Prince Edward County, D.B. Tait makes a powerful first impression with his debut single, “Before You Go.” A haunting cosmic country ballad with echoes of Jason Molina and MJ Lenderman, the song is a preview of a full-length album entitled Losing Time that is sure to establish Tait as a vital new voice within the alt-country world.

Tait explains, “I wrote ‘Before You Go’ as a song about knowing there’s something difficult coming, in any sort of relationship, whether it’s romantic or platonic, and the anxiety and stress that comes with waiting to have that sort of confrontation—almost like waiting to hear if you got a job or if you made the cut on a sports team, but on a more personal and even existential level. The anticipation of that confrontation can be a real struggle sometimes.”

Tait recorded “Before You Go,” as well as the rest of Losing Time (release date TBC), largely in his home studio, tracking most of the guitars and vocals on his own. Close collaborators Ian Roantree and Mitch Cory from the band Kojak added overdubs, while fellow Prince Edward County singer-songwriter and Littleknown Records head David James Allen handled the mix.

Since co-founding Kojak in 2018, Tait has gradually embraced a parallel path as a solo artist in order to express different themes of life’s everyday problems and how facing them helps to break free of destructive cycles. His songs explore how these actions affect love, death, relationships with friends, and the need to gain control of one’s self-governance. In naming the album Losing Time, Tait is essentially taking up the fight for all of us against letting our personal hourglasses run out.

Austel - Mirror To Mine (Album).

Devon-born artist and producer Austel (Annie Rew Shaw) has shared her exquisite second record ‘Mirror To Mine’. The ten track body of work sees Austel dig deep, seeking answers and courageously excavating long-lost memories. The album is a self-produced accomplishment, released independently and mixed by the brilliant Grace Banks (English Teacher, Squid, Haim). 

The album's focus single and closer ‘Coast To Coast’ is a rich offering that ruminates on a decade-long journey, which began when Austel left home. From taking bold, brave strides into music to finding a more established sense of belonging, it was written just a few months after meeting her long-term partner, as things started to fall into place. The track touches on shifting priorities and moving into a different stage of life. ‘I think I always know which songs will open and close an album, and this song, with all its themes of homecoming and both departure/arrival, felt so right to end the record - wrapping up this chapter.’ Austel shared. 

The arrival of Mirror To Mine signals progression both personally and professionally for Austel. The beautifully expansive project is an acoustic-led endeavour, anchored in nylon string guitar, subtle ensemble arrangements and evocative, delicately placed field recordings. Austel’s efforts in the run up to the album haven't gone unnoticed. With support from the likes of Metal Magazine, Under The Radar, Ones To Watch, The Line of Best Fit and Clash Magazine, who flagged Austel's music as ‘charming’ and ​​’a space for reflection’. Single 30th Day was featured on alexrainbirdMusic’s May 2026 compilation. 

Originally from Devon but now based in London, Austel brings a detail-oriented, emotionally intuitive approach to each project, with a growing portfolio spanning genres and formats. She has a first-class honours MA in Creative Music Production and was long-listed for Breakthrough Producer and Self-Producing Artist of the Year for the 2024 & 2025 MPG Awards. Austel is a member of 2% Rising (a community for female and gender-expansive producers) and an advocate for safer, more inclusive practices within the music industry.

Rachel Bochner - Happier You’re Gone (SASE).

Brooklyn-based artist Rachel Bochner has built a reputation for sharp, emotionally charged indie-pop that cuts straight to the core. Since her debut, she’s carved out a space defined by candid lyricism and an unflinching willingness to explore the messier edges of love, identity, and self-discovery. Now, with her latest single “Happier You’re Gone (SASE)”, she enters a new chapter, one that feels both deeply personal and transformative.

At its heart, “Happier You’re Gone (SASE)” is a reckoning. Written from a place of distance and hard-won clarity, the track reframes the aftermath of heartbreak into something more introspective, and ultimately liberating. What initially reads like a breakup song reveals itself to be something more nuanced: a confrontation with the past self who stayed too long, ignored too much, or simply didn’t yet know better. For Bochner, the meaning stretches across multiple interpretations, whether that’s a past lover or a more complicated, internal goodbye, but ultimately lands as a letter of good riddance. “A post-breakup note, or a ‘see-you-never!’ to a formerly destructive self,” she explains. After finishing the song, she added “SASE” (self addressed stamped envelope) to the title as a final, knowing detail, a small piece of context for those paying closer attention.

Inspired by a vivid dream in which she encountered a previous version of herself, the song captures a striking realization: I’m happy she happened, but I’m much happier that she’s gone. It’s this duality that gives the track its resonance, balancing vulnerability with a sense of resolve. Sonically, “Happier You’re Gone (SASE)” leans into an indie-pop landscape with alternative edges, reflecting Bochner’s evolving sound. Produced by Jackson Hoffman, the track pairs its emotional weight with a textured, expansive backdrop that allows her voice, and her story, to sit front and center.

Taxi Girls - Secret Handshake.

Montreal’s Taxi Girls just returned with “Secret Handshake,” the new single and video and on Stomp Records. Following the punch of their debut “Say It,” the track offers a second look at the band’s upcoming LP Static, out June 26. If the first single kicked the door open, this one tears the walls down.

Formed in 2022, the all-female garage punk outfit has quickly carved out their place in Montreal’s underground, the kind built on packed basements, blown speakers, and nights that don’t really end so much as fade out. You can hear the city all over it, somewhere between a late-night dépanneur run, a half-crushed pack of DuMauriers, and the spill of bodies onto Saint-Laurent after last call. There’s a sense the band picked up half their moves from late-night VHS hangs, rewinding Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains, digging into The Runaways, Girlschool, and Nena’s The Stripes, then running it all back louder and faster.

“Secret Handshake” reveals a softer side of Taxi Girls, showcasing the band’s sweeter and more vulnerable side. Written from a place of love and longing, the song captures the feeling of wanting a summer fling to last a bit longer than the fading season. Even when summer is over, you’ll always have your secret handshake.

The lyrics paint a picture as old as time: sharing something special with someone and wishing it could last beyond the summer. A100s - Rude and Lovely / Too Rad To Be Sad.

Southern California’s A100s are a brand new band nearly a decade in the making from the core songwriting duo of Matt Hensley (accordionist of Flogging Molly) and Sean Wheeler (vocalist of Throw Rag), playing music inspired by vintage ska & reggae with a touch of Conjunto accordion.

The band has released a new music video for their second single, the title track from their debut LP Rude and Lovely, currently available for pre-order via Pirates Press Records. The LP is scheduled for release on July 10, 2026.

“Rolling through Mexico City looking out the backseat window like one hundred times before...taking in the rhythm of the city, I see a rotulo on a beauty salon’s storefront: ‘Rude and Lovely,’ hand painted to perfection,” explains Wheeler. Unable to get the phrase out of his head, he excitedly called Hensley immediately. “That's it! The perfect statement for what we had been doing musically!”

“Rude and Lovely” follows their debut single & video, for “Too Rad To Be Sad.” Regarding “Too Rad To Be Sad,” Wheeler points to it as a message of hope & resilience. He says it is about “reminding those around us to keep their heads up. Stay in the light and remind them that they are loved, appreciated, and necessary for the bright future ahead.”

Apryll Aileen - Call Me Anytime.

Canadian singer-songwriter Apryll Aileen shares “Call Me Anytime,” a warm and uplifting pop/alt-country single that captures the quiet strength of unconditional love across distance. Rooted in storytelling and emotional clarity, the track follows a grandfather supporting his grandson as he leaves home to pursue a rising soccer career, balancing pride, longing, and the enduring promise of connection.

At its core, the song is written from the perspective of a grandfather speaking to his grandson as he begins to find success in the Canadian soccer world. Through simple yet deeply resonant lyrics, he reminds him that no matter how far he goes, he is never alone. “Call Me Anytime” becomes both a message and a mantra; a steady reassurance that love remains constant, even as life pulls people in different directions.

That sense of connection extends into the song’s visual world. Filmed in Toronto during JUNO week, the accompanying music video features rising youth soccer talent Malakhai Eaton, one of the top defensive players in the GTA (12 and under). The video captures the emotional tension between ambition and home, reflecting the reality of leaving behind familiarity to chase something bigger, while still holding onto where you came from.

The creative process behind the song unfolded organically. “I was actually on a flight to the UK when I heard the chorus melody in my head,” Apryll shares. “I didn’t want to lose it, so I recorded a voice note right there in my seat. As soon as the plane touched down, I grabbed my friend’s guitar and the song grew naturally from there; it wrote itself.” The track was later brought to life in collaboration with UK-based producer Danny Lafrombe, blending simplicity with dynamic shifts that mirror the emotional arc of the story.

Bandits on the Run - lostlostlost.

Continuing to build excitement for their highly anticipated full-length album, Rough Magic, out on June 12, 2026, NYC-based indie-folk-pop trio, Bandits on the Run, just released the new single, “lostlostlost.” With rotating lead vocals and varied instrumentation, Adrian Blake Enscoe, Sydney Shepherd, and Regina Strayhorn combine to evoke the 60s and 70s spirit of bands like Fleetwood Mac while also carrying the sonic inventiveness of the modern folk power pop acts like First Aid Kit and Bonnie Light Horsemen, and trios like I'm With Her, featuring impeccable harmonies and elevated songwriting so good they make the balancing act seem simple. 

Grown from theatrical roots Enscoe and Shepherd have appeared on Broadway, while Strayhorn has a successful career in casting - they are also writing several original musicals, including a stage musical adaptation of the novel What's Eating Gilbert Grape with actor-musician-longtime-friend Christopher Sears and newfound friend, Academy Award Nominee Peter Hedges. This summer, after a tour supporting Alan Doyle and the release of Rough Magic, Enscoe, Shepherd, and Strayhorn will perform their musical based on William Shakespeare's As You Like It, the basis for their 2025 EP, The Shakespeare Tapes, at the Chautauqua Institution, from August 10 - 15th, as well as two Bandits on the Run shows surrounding that production on August 9 and 12.
 
The new single, “lostlostlost,” was written “off the map,” during an increasingly rare moment when none of the band members were working on anything Bandits-related. Shepherd was starring in the world premiere of a show in Minneapolis, Strayhorn was working on a casting job and starting up a film portrait business, and Enscoe was cast in a TV show. Shepherd and Enscoe - who are married - were also moving, and Enscoe found themselves traveling between NY and Minneapolis, as well as visiting friends in other states. 

“It was a lot of being alone, and without the context of Bandits and our other collective pursuits, it got me in a meaningless-ness state of mind,” Enscoe reflects. “When I don't have Sydney to sleep next to, my circadian rhythm drifts, and soon I was staying up almost to sunrise and sleeping in the middle of the day. My life as a quasi-drifter lacked context. Much as I tried to find some pursuit to latch onto, I never stayed anywhere too long, so no shape took hold.”

Like a snowy cab ride down Saint-Laurent after last call, their music carries the texture of late-night dépanneur runs, sesame bagels eaten on the curb, a Labatt 50 sweating in hand and a DuMaurier burned down to the filter. That feeling fuels a mix of garage rock cool and punk urgency, with infectious energy and a clear sense of identity. Big hooks cut through blown-out guitars, while the dual-vocal dynamic between Jamie Radu and Vera keeps everything shifting, trading lines, colliding and snapping into focus without losing control.

“Say It!” serves as the first glimpse of the band’s forthcoming debut LP Static, set for release on June 26.
