Isabel Rumble - Soften.

Indie-folk songstress Isabel Rumble just released her captivating single 'Soften' and its elemental music video. Her 2023 debut album 'Bird Be Brave' was embraced by the music scene with open arms, drawing praise for its intimate songwriting, gaining a Folk Alliance Australia Award nomination, and going on to spur an international tour across Europe and Australia. Having supported artists like Lior & Domini, Daniel Champagne, Holly Arrowsmith and Ireland’s David Keenan, Isabel Rumble is a rising star in Australia's sky.

'Soften' is a perfect picture of the kind of songwriting that has earned Isabel Rumble her flowers: she aimed to write a song that encapsulated "acceptance of choices made, and a longing to return to the knowing of the body," and delivered in full.

Exploring how it feels to surrender to an inevitable change through soft, intertwining guitar riffs and tender vocals this song feels like listening to a careful, vulnerable conversation. Then, with a gentle burst, the song blossoms with keyboard and slow-jam drums, exploring the quiet strength drawn from those who came before.

Filmed on Thaua Country, Yuin Nation, in the far southern valleys of NSW, this sepia-toned visual offering moves with the land that shaped it. Minimal and elemental, the video captures Isabel's body in gentle motion amidst ancient rock formations. It is a quiet conversation between self and place. 'Soften' is a song that teeters on the edge between light and dark, softness and strength, and this video captures that dance.

KĀMA - Is It So Or Not.

KĀMA recently released the single Is It So Or Not, taken from the debut album Propaganda. Is It So Or Not blends post-punk, art-rock and experimental minimalism influences for a romantically restless anthem.

The sonic energy crosses industrial territories: the tinkling of the guitars weaves a hypnotic plot for a gentle and deep baritone voice questioning the nexus between reality and imagination, while the pressing bass riff and the nervous and broken drums prepare an imaginary meeting between the Smiths, the Jam, the Talking Heads and the Einstürzende Neubauten; the rhythmic breaks wink at the concrete experimentations of Pierre Schaeffer; the crooked intersection of the final guitar arpeggios pay homage to the minimalist phasing of Steve Reich.

The song is paired with a surreal video clip, featuring the metamorphosis in negative blue of the faces of the four members of the band, as a visualizer for the reality-imagination nexus on which the song's lyrics are built. With Is It So Or Not, KĀMA confirm their unmistakable style: contaminated, cultured, in the sign of the most audacious and contemporary alt-rock.

Mollie Elizabeth - Doe Eyes.

Following her debut EP Dirty Blonde, Mollie Elizabeth delivers a visually stunning music video for “Doe Eyed” (dir. Maya Sassoon). The 21-year-old Washington State-based artist Mollie Elizabeth released her debut EP via Neon Gold / Virgin Music, known for her whimsical, melancholic, and empowering songs, the Pacific Northwest artist describes her music as “tiny worlds”, a refuge shaped by her upbringing in the Washington woods, suffused with old-Hollywood elegance and emotional depth. Mollie co-produced her newest song, “Doe Eyes”, along with her Dirty Blonde EP with Dean Reid (Lana Del Rey, Marina) and co-written with Reid and GRAMMY-nominated Casey Smith (Olivia Rodrigo, Ashe, Benson Boone).

Mollie adds: “I have always had a bad habit of romanticizing things/people that are now lost to time. This song is really the anthem for all the girls and guys out there who just can’t help but think one more night might be a good idea- even though it’s definitely not!”

Last month, Mollie released “Until We Meet Again” - a dusky, cinematic ballad steeped in Old Hollywood glamour. With a rare blend of chic elegance, playful confidence, and sincere sweetness, she infuses the track with timeless allure. The single was produced by Dean Reid (Lana Del Rey, MARINA) and co-written with Reid and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter Casey Smith (Olivia Rodrigo, Ashe, Benson Boone).

Maddison Kate - More To Me.

Meanjin-based folk artist, Maddison Kate, continues to deliver raw emotion with her warm tones and tender melodies in her single 'More To Me' (just out Friday, July 11). She brings a contemplative and honest energy on this stunning new track, providing a glimpse of her upcoming EP 'What I'd Say To You', out on Friday, August 8.

Maddison Kate's journey into music started at age 9, where she would perform at open mic nights with just her vocals and her guitar, and since then her career has taken off to soaring heights. Now, she has a number of notable venues under her belt, including Gympie Music Muster and Queensland Music Festival, and recently, opening for Kyle Lionhart, on the Queensland leg of his 2024 ‘Careless’ Tour.

Her poetic sound, folk melodies, and earthy tones have led to plenty of eyes on her and won her competitions like the 2TM Discovered Competition for Tamworth Country Music Festival and Queensland Music Festival’s On Song competition.

'More To Me' is an introspective tune made from the gentle plinking of piano, soaring violin, charming guitar and vocals that play with the spectrum of emotion and become something angelic. This gentle song explores the overwhelming feelings about being better off without someone unless they grow and change, and hoping for that change regardless.  With her enchanting voice and delicate composition, this song is an introspective and meditative folk-pop number that moves like a playful dance.

MF Tomlinson - Die To Wake Up From A Dream (Album).

MF Tomlinson releases new album 'Die To Wake Up From A Dream' on PRAH Recordings. Tomlinson plays a run of in-store dates this coming week before embarking on a headline tour this October.

MF Tomlinson's third studio album 'Die To Wake Up From A Dream' marks the final chapter in a trilogy of self-produced full lengths, following his 2021 debut 'Strange Time' and 2023's 'We Are Still Wild Horses', respectively drawing universal praise from Uncut, Mojo, The Times, The Arts Desk, Record Collector, The Line of Best Fit, CLASH Magazine and many more.

An opus on human experience, new album 'Die To Wake Up From A Dream' is an urgent and vivid description of the times in which we live. Inspired in part by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov’s installation Labyrinth (My Mother’s Album), the album confronts darkness head-on; mapping the psychic geography of our reality, journeying through personal and collective dreamstates before emerging into a nuanced, grounded sense of hope.

Encompassing folk, shoegaze, art-rock, prog and orchestral traditions, the new album was produced by Tomlinson in his studio in Poplar, London. Meticulously captured one instrument at a time, 'Die To Wake Up From A Dream' is a psychoacoustic odyssey of impossible proportions.

From the post-punk pulse of today’s focus single 'Dream Of You' and the grandeur of album opener 'Blink And You’ll Miss It', to the liminal landscapes of instrumental pieces 'A Dream' and 'A Meadow (Part I)', Tomlinson’s work remains characteristically expansive.

Victoria Akua - You Remind Me.

Victoria Akua from Copenhagen, Denmark, releases her new single „You Remind Me“ on July 11, 2025 via Greywood Records. Victoria describes her music as a genre mix of indie pop, folky singer-songwriter and meditative music. Victoria Akua on her new single: "‘You Remind Me’ was inspired by an experience I had of being reminded how to look at myself with softness and kindness, by looking into the loving eyes of a friend. At the same time the song is also about being courageous enough to accept oneself, even when others don’t get you or share the same point of view. - Victoria Akua

Victoria's music is based on her own journey, which began at a young age, searching for more balance and a deeper peace and understanding within herself. In a hectic world where it is so easy to be pulled in many directions, she wants to find ways to stay centered with an open heart in the hope that her music can support others on their own paths.

The intention of the music is to have a nourishing, calming and healing effect. Music that comes from the heart and that reflects and creates inner peace, trust and self-love - and connects us.

Her music is inspired by the rhythms and cycles of nature, healthy and nurturing connections between people and creating spaces for expression, creativity and loving energy. Through the simplicity of the music, the listener is invited directly into a calm cocoon where breathing becomes deeper and the mind can rest.

Eve Goodman & SERA - Blodyn Gwyllt.

Blodyn Gwyllt (‘Wildflower’ in English) is the first in a run of singles by singer-songwriters Eve Goodman and SERA from their upcoming collaborative album, Natur, due for release in the Autumn of 2025.  Blodyn Gwyllt is about being true to your nature and living freely. It is also a celebration of both our natural environment and women (two themes that run alonsgide each other throughout the album).

The duo share this ‘West Coast’ folk-rock inspired track just in time for the summer. Alongside their harmonious vocals and guitars, the track features pedal steel (Gwyndaf Williams) and bass guitar from co-producer Colin Bass (member of Camel and also producer of the Tincian album from 9 Bach which won ‘Best Album’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award in 2015).

The song was recorded at Wild End Studio near Llanrwst, North Wales.  Eve Goodman and SERA began working together after they were selected as BBC Horizons Artists in 2019. Both folk singer-songwriters, with rising solo careers and both had grown up in Caernarfon. Being part of Horizons brought them together and after just one writing session they found common ground in their connection and curiosity for nature. Surrounded by the beautiful North Wales landscape that is such an important part of their lives and Inspired by the Lost Words - Spells Songs project, they began to explore the Welsh names for birds and trees, flowers and fish.

The song tendrils soon grew to touch upon the cyclical element of both nature and women, and soon enough a body of work was growing, each song a hymn of love to both.  2020 started off as an exciting year for the pair, performing on Heno, then live at BBC Maida Vale Studios, and released two popular tracks (Gaeafgwsg and Rhwng y Coed) which were playlisted on BBC Radio Cymru. Of course, Covid lockdown hit, and the project paused for a few years. Thanks to a Ty Cerdd Lottery grant  and then the Horizons launchpad fund, the two were able to make time to write the remaining tracks for their album, they took part in Can i Gymru 2023 with Tangnefedd, then went into the studio.

McCabe - Sunset Boulevard (Album).

The wait is finally over for fans of London’s experimental soul-artist McCabe as he drops his debut album Sunset Boulevard on July 11th. Blending vintage Motown sounds and emotive string-based pop with darker, experimental excursions into dub and trip-hop, McCabe’s debut LP navigates themes of love, loss, stardom, madness, and paranoia across ten meticulously crafted tracks. The album stands as a truly genre-bending odyssey, refusing categorisation as it weaves between pop, soul, R&B, indie, electronic, and avant-garde sensibilities with fearless originality.

"Throughout the process, the intent was to marry my love of pop music and experimental music," McCabe explains. "I threw the idea of traditional songwriting structures out of the window and chose a free-flowing, stream of consciousness approach instead, improvising many of the lyrics in the early stages and letting the song direct me rather than me directing the song."

From the sun-drenched melancholy of 'Vicious' to the west coast-inspired title track, ‘Sunset Boulevard’ showcases McCabe's artistic depth and versatility. However, it's the focus track 'Borderline' that reveals McCabe at his most cinematic – a lush soundscape featuring warm, velvety strings and infectious guitars beneath his hypnotic vocals. "Borderline is about being betrayed by friends in a time of need and the feeling of not fitting into the musical and social landscape but continuing on anyway with the belief that one day it will all be understood," McCabe shares. Masterfully fusing soul elements with indie influences like The Smiths or The Strokes, McCabe creates a compelling centerpiece that encapsulates the album's emotional core.

Brought to life in collaboration with acclaimed producer Patrick James Fitzroy, (known for his work with Sorry, Katy J Pearson, and PVA) this ambitious hi-fi production features contributions from 17 musicians, including David Zbirka (Drum Store Romeos) on drums and Nat Phillipps (Crack Cloud) on saxophone. "It was a great experience working with Patrick," McCabe reflects. "We both have very different qualities. He is very technical and detail-focused while I am more stream of consciousness and untrained in my approach." The creative journey wasn't without challenges – at one point, a studio blackout led to lost files that Fitzroy had to meticulously reconstruct. "One expects the making of an album to have these incidents," he adds, "and it adds a character unto the world in which it exists."

Jonathan Jeremiah - Kolkata Bear.

With “Kolkata Bear,” Jonathan Jeremiah announces his new album We Come Alive, set for release on November 7th via [PIAS] Recordings. A musical statement full of soul, suspense, and cinematic grandeur, the track is energetic and charged, driven by dramatic strings, lush arrangements, and layered choirs—all held together by Jeremiah’s unmistakable baritone voice: warm, direct, and stirring.

Thematically, the British singer-songwriter weaves together family history and imagination. “Kolkata Bear” was inspired by a story his father told him about Jeremiah’s grandmother, who—as a child—had a bear as a pet. This animal companion lived on a farm in India before being given to a prince’s zoo. This surreal anecdote, combined with the loss of his beloved dog Lilly, became the starting point for a song that oscillates between memory, grief, and strength.

The upcoming album We Come Alive presents a seasoned songwriter at the height of his expressive power—personal, bold, and stylistically expansive. The record was created between a remote farmhouse studio in Somerset (UK) and the bustling Oost district of Amsterdam. The result is a musical patchwork of European pop history, warm soul, orchestral richness, and intimate moments.

Lloyd & The Leftovers - Spin The Wheel.

Lloyd & The Leftovers take a moment to get honest in their debut album's title track, 'Spin The Wheel', and explore the daydream in its companion music video, both out this weekend. Their debut album will follow on Friday, August 8. Hailing from Walyalup (Western Australia), Lloyd & the Leftovers are five-piece indie-folk/rock band that take the sounds of americana and adds an Australian twist.  Known for their vibrant live shows and DIY recordings, they've left their mark on the scene at festivals like In The Pines RTRFM Festival and the City of Fremantle Winter Festival, and see a range of support from Apple Music, ABC Country, Double J, RTR FM, AAA Backstage and many more

Harmonica and unconventional percussion add a country twang to Lloyd & The Leftovers' indie folk/rock sound in their album's title track 'Spin The Wheel'. Built from strings of emotions, this single is packed with the authenticity that Lloyd & The Leftovers is known for. With vocals packed with longing, singer-songwriter Luke Giglia-Smith takes a walk through a love confession:

"I want the song to give a sense of longing for someone and weighing up feelings for someone who lives that same life of working on the road, always being far away from home and out of service, counting the days until you can get back and lift all the weight of these feelings off your chest."

Shot like a short film, the music video dives into a daydream of a fish and chip shop worker as she finds escapism in a love story with herself and a customer at the centre. Contrasting the dull tones of a fish and chip shop with the warm and sun-soaked colours of the day dream, the girl imagines a life with the man, complete with arguments  and apologies, dances and drives, until she comes back into reality at the end, simply exchanging a smile with him.

Maygen & The Birdwatcher - Elizabeth.

This week, the Minnesota-based group Maygen & The Birdwatcher announce that their sophomore LP The Americana Dream will be released on October 10 via Yellow House Music Collective / Missing Piece Records. It reimagines the traditional definition of the American Dream, shifting away from the aspirational nature of the concept itself and moving towards a full embrace of the literal definition of Americana – the vast geographical, historical and cultural expanse that reflects Maygen & The Birdwatcher’s roots as well as this country as a whole.

Alongside the album’s announcement, the band is releasing cathartic new single “Elizabeth,” which pairs Maygen Lacey’s soft voice with a high energy banjo and a bouncy fiddle to sing about someone who is unequivocally magnetic but is perhaps concealing something more ominous. The group will continue touring through the summer and into the fall with a variety of headline and festival dates. They will also travel south later this year for a series of visits to Americana radio stations such as Nashville’s WMOT and Louisville’s WFPK who have invited them to play on-air sessions. See below for a full list of dates.

“‘Elizabeth’ is the North Star of our next musical chapter,” shares Lacey. “She’s the one that is helping us break down some genre barriers while also bringing along our favorite parts of where we’ve already musically been. Elizabeth is the one that you let take too much from you. The one you let dishevel all your hard lines in the sand. And maybe you’re ok with that, because she has that certain charm and confidence about her that keeps you wanting to stay within reach. Only through time can you make sense that her confidence and insistence on the limelight was her mask for self-consciousness.”

Cactus Lee - Sons of Sevilla - Gwenno

Cactus Lee - Got A Heart Like Rainwater Blues.

This spring Cactus Lee released a new self-titled album (with R. Crumb artwork) via the esteemed Austin label Western Vinyl. Yesterday they released a music video for the single "Got A Heart Like Rainwater Blues." Culled from Super-8 tour footage this spring, the video captures the nostalgia-tinted quality of Cactus Lee's timeless Texas music.

Fronted by Austin songwriter Kevin Dehan, Cactus Lee's music shares the outsider spirit of the Lone Star state -- the dusty dive bars, the humming jukeboxes, the packed sweaty nightclubs. With a lilt to his voice, Dehan explores the highs and lows of loneliness and self-discovery. Often backed by a pedal steel and a shuffling drumbeat, his music evokes summers long-gone, days spent in the heat and humidity. Throughout you’ll find Dehan coming to terms with change and reflecting on life as memories float by and friendships grow.

The band has toured the US heavily, with headline shows in New York, Chicago, Nashville, and Los Angeles. Their music has been included on Spotify's Fresh Folk, Emerging Americana, Fresh Finds Folk, and NPR's New Music Friday playlists.

Sons of Sevilla - Butterfly.

Today, UK-based duo Sons of Sevilla announced the upcoming release of Street Light Moon, an album built for endless summers and retro-futurist reveries. Produced by GRAMMY-winning Adrian Quesada of Black Pumas, the album was inspired by a world's worth of influences and the pursuit of a vintage, real sound. The duo of brothers Henry and Reuben Smith have also released the lead single “Butterfly,” an immersive song that conjures up the tranquil daze of Spanish summers.

“We don’t sing about where we’re from,” says Henry. “The music escapes it. We’re trying very hard not to be an English indie rock band, because the world already has a lot of those. Instead, we’re trying to step into something else… and somewhere else.”

With a sound that exists out of time and off the map, the band draws from a world’s worth of influences: the family-owned British pub where brothers Henry and Reuben Smith grew up, watching their parents sling drinks as songs by John Prine and J.J. Cale played over the speakers; the marina in Gibraltar where they spent three weeks aboard an old fishing trawler, writing the album's songs as waves splashed against the dock; the recording studio in Austin, Texas, where they recorded Street Light Moon with Adrian Quesada and a small group of multi-instrumentalists.

Raised on the outskirts of Leeds, Henry and Reuben spent countless hours in their parents' taproom as pre-teens – all that time indoors was a musical education, introducing the young boys to songs by Buena Vista Social Club, Bob Dylan, Terry Reid, Neil Young, and Gene Clark. The summer months offered a different sort of education, with the family leaving their hometown of Featherstone and heading to the Spanish city of Sevilla. The area's Mediterranean climate felt downright exotic after a long, chilly British winter, and the new city helped broaden Henry and Reuben's appreciation for different cultures. Years later, when they began recording their debut album, the brothers nodded to those summertime vacations abroad by naming the project "Sons of Sevilla.

Gwenno - Utopia.

This Friday, July 11, Gwenno releases her hugely anticipated and already highly acclaimed new album Utopia via Heavenly Recordings. Following the singles "Dancing On Volcanoes”, “War” and “Y Gath”, today Gwenno shares a ravishing video for the album’s gorgeous and dreamlike title track. “Utopia” paints a picture of someone living their life against the rapidly fading colors of Las Vegas. That story is sung over an ever-evolving groove that sounds like a Philly Soul band taking Moon Safari on an exciting new journey into the cosmos. The accompanying video was shot “Casino”-style on location in Las Vegas by Claire Marie Bailey.

43 years into her life, Gwenno Saunders has been many people. The disaffected Cardiff schoolgirl; the teenage Las Vegas dancer; the singer in indie pop group The Pipettes. There was a turn in a Bollywood film, a nightclub tour, a stint cleaning floors in an East London pub. Long before she would become an acclaimed solo songwriter in both Welsh and Cornish, a winner of the Welsh Music Prize, a nominee for the Mercury, a Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh, there were the days of Nevada, London, Brighton; of Irish dancing, techno clubs, messiness and chaos.

Utopia, Saunders’ fourth solo album, is an extraordinary exploration of all of these selves. If the singer regards her first three solo records — 2014’s Y Dydd Olaf, 2018’s Le Kov and 2022’s Tresor as “childhood records”, rooted in her upbringing, her parents, her formative identity, then Utopia captures a time of self-determination and experimentation. These are songs of discovery, of the years between being someone’s daughter and becoming someone’s wife and someone’s mother. They range from floor-fillers to piano ballads, via contributions from Cate Le Bon and H. Hawkline, and encompass William Blake, a favorite Edrica Huws poem, and the Number 73 bus. It is her finest work to date.

There is a sense of revelation to Utopia, a feeling markedly different to that of previous records. Having released three albums in Welsh and Cornish, Utopia is Gwenno’s first album recorded predominantly in English, and presents a very different side to her life and songwriting.

Imogen Clark - Baba Pen & The Bim Bam Band - Home Counties

Imogen Clark - Choking on Fuel (Album).

We are a little late to the parade regarding Imogen Clark's new album 'Choking on Fuel' but it's more than worth a share on Beehive Candy and it is already kicking her 2025 into high gear. The last few weeks have seen Imogen return to the UK for a sold-out headline tour and performance at Maverick festival, and land on the lineup of this year's AMERICANAFEST in Nashville (alongside artists like Kashus Culpepper, Kip Moore, Jade Bird, Rodney Crowell and Ruston Kelly).

Nashville-via-Sydney singer-songwriter Imogen Clark is getting high octane and back to the nitty gritty with her new album ‘Choking on Fuel’. After a breakneck year of non-stop touring, returning to her roots armed with an acoustic guitar, Imogen is rolling out a record that captures the intensity, vulnerability, musical dexterity and vocal power that characterizes her compelling live performances.

“I spent last year on the road around the world, playing headline shows but also touring with Robyn Hitchcock, Steve Poltz, Bowen * Young and Andrew Farriss”, Imogen explains. “So many people have messaged me or commented on my social media to say that they would love to have an album that captured the spirit of what I do live, and that’s what this is”.

The album puts Imogen’s rich, devastating vocals front and center, foregrounding her deft, cutting lyrics and affecting melodies. The record runs the emotional gamut from the wry, incendiary All Hard Feelings (with 70s style backing vocals from co-writers Sinead Burgess and Blake O’Connor, who also tears up a blistering slide guitar solo), a high-octane harmonica solo on The Art of Getting Through from the legendary Mickey Raphael, the sexy bluegrass raveup of Sebastian (where Imogen is backed by Aussie grassers Midnight Chicken) to the raw, powerful anthem The Last of Me (with My Morning Jacket’s Bo Koster on propulsive piano), the road not taken nightmare of Squinters (a co-write with Steve Poltz powered by Bryan Sutton’s nuanced acoustic guitar), a fiery Nebraska-esque anthem If I Want In (featuring ARIA-winner Ella Hooper) to the delicate, timeless wisdom of If Your Heart Never Breaks (featuring gorgeous harmonies from co-writer Jim Lauderdale and a dexterous and beautiful guitar from the iconic Tommy Emmanuel).

Baba Pen & The Bim Bam Band - Hare In The Haze.

Baba Pen & The Bimbam Band return with their third single, Hare in the Haze – a swirling folky journey into the misty corners of old Europe. Picture this: roadside taverns, wandering bards, and tales passed down by firelight. This one tells of a cunning hare and an aging hunter locked in a never-ending chase. Just as the hunter takes aim, a thick haze rolls in… and the hare vanishes once again. But not all stories end well for those who seek control. With rippling guitars and a timeless groove, Hare in the Haze pulls you into a world of myth and mischief – the kind that makes you want to grab a pint and stay a while.

Bastian Pen, lead singer of the band Tricklebolt, steps into new creative territory with a fresh project under the moniker Baba Pen. Collaborating with a group of talented friends, they form Baba Pen & The Bim Bam Band, a collective destined to make waves. Their debut album, set for release on October 10, 2025, blends 60s-inspired psychedelic rock with hints of folk and cosmic country, all wrapped in the lush, intricate production style of Jonathan Wilson.

Featuring members from Grand East, Money and the Man, Tricklebolt, and Jimmy Diamond, "Hare In The Haze" is a captivating taste of what’s to come, offering a glimpse into the diverse sonic landscape of Baba Pen & The Bim Bam Band. It's a brilliant first step into an album that promises to explore the many shades of Baba Pen's musical world.

Home Counties - Humdrum.

Home Counties today announce their highly-anticipated second album 'Humdrum' - out 24th October on Submarine Cat Records. Produced by Al Doyle (of Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem), new album 'Humdrum' is the follow up to the London six-piece's 2024 debut album 'Exactly As It Seems'.

To mark the announcement, Home Counties are today sharing the album's title track and new single 'Humdrum'. A sardonic unravelling of social misfires, ‘Humdrum’ captures the anxiety of saying the wrong thing and stewing over it later ("It’s also about feeling bitter towards people who are just better at chatting shit," singer Will Harrison notes).

Originally almost scrapped, the track shape-shifted through krautrock and bedroom pop before landing on its final form - a jittery, synth-heavy, hook-laced highlight that reckons with self-sabotage and success-envy in equal measure.
